Yet Mika, almost becoming a victim of the gem's powers because of another student's frustrations, had him wanting to see the box safely away.

Clutching the box tightly, Ailwin walked away from the school building in search of Braeden.

After being dropped off at the dorm, Mika was still on cloud nine from her make-out session until she began to pick up the weird looks coming from the students around her.

"Is that her…?"

"Yea, I heard she is her sister…"

"Whthen why would she do such a thing…"

"Dunno, maybe they not on good terms…"

With the strange glances thrown her way and murmurs going on around her, Mika could decipher that they were talking about her. Feeling left out of the loop with all the muttering going on she contacted Saavi. Figuring Saavi would probably have some info on what is going on.

In the cafeteria, Saavi and the rest were sitting down enjoying their meal like most of the students around then when she received Mika's message.

"Mika is on her way…" She informed the group.

"She is okay?" Jonas asked. They had all saw the end of the match with Valindra's sneak attack.

"Yea, but…"

"But...what?"

"She wants to know what everyone is talking about…" Saavi and Jonas blew out a breath. They knew once Mika found out about the talks going on around her, she will take matter into her own hands.

"Man, I never thought that elite families were this bad…" Hycis commented as his shook his head in disgust.

As he was from an average clan that operates at the outer reaches of the Kaia kingdom to the North. He never saw nor experience the conflicts inside these high clans.

Although Saavi isn't an child of an high clan, she like Jonas and Celaena have witnessed enough of their families' fights to know that what was happening to Mika.

"Okay...so what is with all the long faces?" Having been lost in their thoughts, no one noticed Mika walking right up to the table.

"Mika, you all right? How is Prince Ailwin?" Saavi came around the table to hug and whisper into Mika's ear. Though everyone sat behind Prince Ailwin and General Gilwenys at the arena, it still wasn't known to anyone that Mika is Ailwin's fiancee.

"Fine..." Mika answered, but with a hint of a blush covering her cheeks, " So tell me what all this whispering doing on is all about?"

The three faces at the table all look to Saavi. 

"Sigh...It seems that the other opponents who didn't show up, let it be known that it was Kamryn and Lula who told them to fight you in the arena. Now everyone is making a.s.sumptions about what is going on in the Amara clan."

"Mmm...okay, I figured as much." Mika breath a sigh of relief if this was all they were talking about.

Not one to wallow in this awful atmosphere, Hycis demanded a card match with Mika, much to Celaena' and Saavi's protest.

"Oh, come on! You can't tell me that you don't want to try to beat her…"They all turned to look at Mika who was sipping on a gla.s.s of juice.

"I'm in..," Jonas agreed. If he could beat Mika just once at something, he'll be able to brag about it for days.

"Okay, let's try…" Saavi agreed only to keep up the cheery the mood.

"….en." Celaena wanted to see if she can figure out Mika's cheating method this time.

Getting a deck of cards, their table was soon full of grumbling, shouting and laughter. As Mika wasn't one to turn down free credits, she took Hycis up on his offer. Three rounds into the game, Hycis had already lost half his credits for the school term.

"Mika, you're scary...." Hycis said, afraid to ask for another card. He was getting a front-row experience at what her opponents feeling in that arena when they realized that everything depends on the next card that is dealt to them.

Mika just smiled. Since coming back from the arena, Saavi could see that she wasn't her usually self.

"Mika, is something wrong? Did something happen with you and Ailwin?" She whispered to Mika when Jonas won the round much to Celaena' and Hycis' disappointment.

"No... I don't know, I just feel that something is coming...it's unsettling."

Thinking that the sneak attack by Valindra at the arena had Mika spooked, Saavi tried to comfort her when Mika's wristband dinged.

Excusing herself from the next round of cards, Mika read the brief message Ailwin sent her.

"Kamryn gave Valindra the Gem of Wraith. Prince Thallan knows about us. Keep a lookout. Need to hide gem. Be gone for some days. -Ailwin"

Mika cursed. She had known that Kamryn and Lula werethe masterminds behind her fights. However, she didn't know that Kamryn would Valindra a gem that would condemn her soul for all eternity. 

It seems like my ex-sisters had too much time on their hands.

Feeling like she needed to give her ex-sisters a little payback present, Mika left her friends to retire to her room.

On Ailwin's side, he had Braeden fire up their air craft while leaving Kaze behind to make sure his brother didn't try anything with Mika.

"How the h.e.l.l did Mika's sister get her hands on this!?" Braeden looked at the tiny box lying on the console of the shuttle with anxious eyes.

"I don't know. Right now, I just want to get this thing as far away from her, her sister and my brother as possible..." Ailwin entered coordinates into the navigation system.

"We should destroy it..." Braeden didn't want to sit next to this thing any longer than he had to.

"We will...once I know how. Until then we need to hide it, from other people's eyes." Braeden wholeheartedly agreed, things like this artifact shouldn't have been made.

Flying off to a hidden location, Ailwin hoped nothing else would happen while he was gone.

Considering Mika's success for attracting trouble to her. He should only hope that a war doesn't break out while he is gone.

As Ailwin was on his way to hide the gem, Mika sat in front of her monitor in her dorm room, laughing evilly. 

The next day when Saavi saw Mika again, she was back to her usual self.
