Inside of the alumni dormitory, Mikaela sat facing to two men while they paced back and forth.

"How was seeing your father?"

"The King is fine." Ailwin hated when people called that man his father.

"Okay…. Is there some reason why the two of you are playing tag?"

Braeden and Ailwin stopped mid-turn and looked at each other. Subconsciously they had been going around in circles following each other.

"Why are you pacing about?" Ailwin asked looking at his best friend. 

When the King had mentioned the honey tree problem, the first thing that popped into Braeden's head was Mikaela and that thing she did with the tree back at Ash city. He didn't know how the two are related, but he felt it in his bones that they were.

 The problem now was he couldn't tell Ailwin about it or anyone else for that matter.

"There is something I want to ask Miss Mikaela, but I don't know how…" Braeden gave Mikaela a pointed look. 

Mikaela didn't know what Braeden's glare was about, but she wasn't about to let it slide, so she gave him a nasty look right back.

"Okay, I don't know what is going on with you two but Mika… Did your uncle ever say anything else about the raids at The Steppes?" Ailwin's abrupt question caught Mika off guard.

"Huh? Why are you bring that back up?"

"I'll explain later."

"Hmm...no, he didn't let much slip about the raids to me." Mika shook her head. "Can you explain now, why you are asking this?"

"King Rych.e.l.l has ask us to go to the southwestern border to stop some disputes...most likely the same thing that happened at The Steppes. I just wanted to make sure Thallan is not involved in this again."

Talking about the Steppes, Mika caught Braeden's stare from the corner of her eyes.

Is this why he giving me such a look...The hairs on Mika's neck stood up. Does the King know something?

"Are the two linked in some kind of way?" She probed.

"Yes….and no."

"Which is it!?" Ailwin was shock by her outburst.

"Sorry, I...I just don't have good memories of that time…"

"En...don't worry, I doubt your family has any plans in this." He patted Mika's back.

Mika was skeptical. It wasn't her family that she was worried about, it was his.

Braeden hmph underneath his breath at Mika's response. Ailwin ignored his friend's actions, but Mika could see that he was struggling to get words out of his mouth.

"The similarities between the two places, has my gut churning though." He didn't know what it was, but his six sense was telling him that it not as simple as his father was telling him it was.

"...he ask for you personally to handle this situation?"

"Yes." Ailwin gave up pacing back and forth and took the seat beside her.

While Ailwin and Mika were thinking to themselves on this matter, Braeden continued to stare at her.

Braeden was in his own turmoil as his mouth would listen to his commands.

Finally realizing that his friend has been extra quiet lately, Ailwin ask for his opinions. 

"Braeden, you haven't said much lately, what do you think?"

"Tsk! Ailwin...her," He pointed at Mika, struggling to get the words out of his mouth, "Sheha.s.somethingtotellyou!" That was all he could muster from his lips.

Ailwin looked at Mikaela, who in turn was throwing daggers at Braeden with her eyes.

Ailwin touched Mika's chin and turned her head back towards him. Jealousy flickered through his eyes. He already made it clear to her that he didn't like to be left out of her plans.

Mika could see that Ailwin was gearing up the question what Braeden meant. She didn't want to lie to him, but she didn't want to reveal everything right now. There were still parts she was trying to figure out, and if this information leaks or gets into the wrong hands it won't just be her life that would be at stake.

Seeing the hesitation in her eyes, Ailwin knew she was keeping something from him. 

Rather than pulling teeth from Mika's mouth, he asked Braeden while continuously looking in her eyes.

"Braeden, what exactly does Mikaela need to tell me?"

Braeden struggled again to find the correct words he could get out of his mouth without the spell she put on him blocking him.

"...s-s-steppes!…" Ailwin looked at Braeden for more information. Yet, that was all he could get out. Pointing his finger Mika's way, Braeden gesture for Ailwin to ask her for the rest.
