It was quiet inside Governor Kelim's office as everyone returned deep in their thoughts, especially Ailwin.

"Prince Ailwin, I would like to know what was found on that tablet Lord Elre gave you…" Kelim pointed to the tablet that was still being clenched in Ailwin's hand.

Ailwin looked down the tablet in questioned, he wanted to throw it far a way from him but couldn't bring himself to.

"Governor Kelim...before I discuss the contents in this tablet. I want to ask you a couple more questions first…"

"Okay…" Kelim gestured for his advisor to serve everyone some tea.

"You said you were the governor of this city for over hundred years... Did the King ever visit this area before?" Kelim thought about this for a while before asking.

"No, not to my knowledge… The King would usually send word out to me via comms or his advisors would relay his orders to me."

While Ailwin and Governor Kelim were talking, Braeden was paying attention to Governor Kelim's advisor.

At the mention of the King's visit, he jumped and spill a bit of tea on his clothes and table. Ailwin didn't notice as he was too focus on Governor Kelim's reaction, but Braeden saw.

"Ruven… Ruven…!" Kelim called out to his advisor when he realized that he was just standing there with the tray of mugs in his hands, "...serve the tea."

"Oh!...yes, sorry sir." Placing the tray down on the table, Ruven stepped back and sat down beside Kelim.

"Have the honey trees in the area been….sick?"

Kelim looked at Prince Ailwin like he a little slow.

"Prince Ailwin, the honey trees all over the Kingdom have been sick, this is no new news."

"Yes, sorry I… what I meant was when did your trees become sick?"

"Um…I believe it was after the East border incident…"

"You sure…?" The graveness in Ailwin's voice and the haunted look in his eyes, made Kelim pause to think things over it again.

"I...I believe so, but I could be wrong. We can check our records…"

"Please do..."

"Prince Ailwin, please don't take this the wrong way, but what does this have to do with helping the citizens?"

"Sigh...according to what Lord Elre gave me...everything," Ailwin turned ON the tablet then walked to the monitor at Governor Kelim's desk. He transferred the information onto the screen so everyone could see.

Governor Kelim, his advisor, Ruven and Braeden stood in front of each other reading over the information.

"This...this can't be possible…."

"Oh my G.o.ds…!"

"Ailwin...this...is this true." Braeden looked at his friend for so many years with dread written all over his face. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

"We need to wait for what Kaze is able to find out before a.s.suming that everything on the this tablet is correct…" Ailwin didn't want to believe that what he was holding in his hands was the key to why Kaia's citizens were starving and ill.

"If it is...Ailwin...if it is, it means the King is responsible for... genocide." As soon as Braeden's words left his mouth, his wristband beeped for an incoming comm.

"Answer it, it might be from Kaze."

"En." Palms sweaty and a little jiggery, Braeden had a hard time pressing the correct b.u.t.tons to open the message.

"d.a.m.nit...come on…!"

"General Gilwenys, calm yourself!" Ailwin's shout seem to have snapped Braeden back to himself for the moment as he was able to finally open the message for Ailwin to see.

As Ailwin was reading the comm, Governor Kelim sat behind his desk sick to his stomach.

He didn't know what else to say to the information in front of him. He didn't want to look at it anymore but he couldn't take his eyes from reading it over and over again.

The King has been purposely polluted the honey trees...these experiments have already killed hundreds! Why is he doing this?....Rowwod city....it's citizens...are we all just test subjects!

"Governor Kelim…" Ailwin called out to the frozen governor while looking at Braeden's wristband. When he got no response, he lift his head to look at Kelim.

"Governor Kelim…sigh, Governor!"

"Uh...oh, Prince Ailwin…" Kelim didn't look good, he was in shock. His skin was pasty and his eyes were wide with fright.

His body was shaking so much, he nearly hit his head on the table as he try to stand up from his chair.

"Careful…!" Braeden was able to grab him in time before a b.l.o.o.d.y gash could appears on his forehead.

"...t-thank….thank you, General." Kelim held his desk for support, "Prince Ailwin, you were about to ask something…?"

"...yes. We need to get the city's communications back up. Also, my men need to leave the city."

"I can take you to the mainframe room...as for you soldiers…." Kelim's words drifted off as his eyes strayed towards his monitor again.

"Lord Elre said it is a contamination, which means as long as we find the source of the pollution we can stop the spread of the infection."

"...um..okay…." Kelim nodded and led the way to the city's mainframe.

As they were about to exit the door, Ailwin pulled Braeden back.

"Get our men ready…there somewhere we have to go."

"En."

However, just as they were about to split up, Braeden abruptly turned back around, "Ailwin.....watch out for Ruven."
