"The first case of the honey trees sickness was in a small city just outside of the eastern border, at the time it cause a big commotion." Ailwin's words before he and Braeden left popped in her mind.

You have got to be kidding me…

"Your whole clan is dead because…"

"….the King ordered the city be wiped off of the map." Celaena finished Mika's sentence, leaving Hycis, Jonas, and Saavi stunned.

"What! When did this happen!?" Shouts from all three filled the room.

Walking back to her computer, Mika search through piles and piles of files to find the information on the eastern border during that time. She berated herself for not doing it earlier.

It didn't take long as she figured the King would have erased everything a.s.sociating with the eastern border from the government's mainframe. Yet, he wouldn't be able to delete it from the academy's.

With Ailwin' and Braeden's words as clues and since the academy is an inst.i.tution of knowledge, they would definitely keep what happened during that time in their files.

Finding and pulling up the records, Mika began to read over the events that took place.

In the year x.x.xX, a small city, Sunmond, outside of the Eastern border experienced a drastic decline in the health of their honey trees. Numerous attempt were made to cure the sick trees with nothing working. The Governor at the time thought it would be better option to dig up all sick trees from their roots to stop the spread. Hence, a citywide "uprooting" took place. Over a thousand trees were transported outside the city's barriers and burned. For a time the plan seem to have worked. There were no more reports of sick trees tormenting the farmers. However, honey production slowed. Despite the fact that the sickly trees were indeed gone, the healthy trees couldn't make up for the lost of over a thousand trees burned.

Although that was the case, the Governor of Sunmond didn't see it as a big deal. Everyone knows the trees will sprout seeds and by next year their the saplings would replace all the trees they had lost.

This would have been the case if the honey trees did indeed sprout seeds.

At the end of harvest season, Sunmond City farmers saw no dropping of seeds from their honey trees. Winter quickly came and with it the went into hibernation.

The citizens of Sunmond were is a bad situation. Due to not having a sufficient amount of honey during harvest season, the citizens were already looking thin and many of them were coming coming down with ailments.

Mika paused in her reading, I wonder if what they are calling aliments is actually the plague that's happening in Rowood City?

Mika skimmed down the information to see if it alluded to what the aliments were, but there was only one section remaining in the information concerning Sunmond City.

After several months of discussion with government officials, his royal highness, King Rych.e.l.l made the decision to eliminate Sunmond City from the rest of Kaia in the hopes that what happened to them would not affect the rest of the country.

Mika read the page again, but she couldn't find any word about the Ayire clan.

"Why don't I know about this?" Hycis spoke from behind her back. Jonas and Saavi stood with him as they read over Mika's shoulders.

"It was before we were born…"

"...but never even heard of anyone talking about it…" Hycis didn't know what to make of that, a whole city is gone and people find nothing wrong with it?

"Celaena...was your family in the city at the time?" Mika turned to look at the Celaena.

"Yes, they were trying to find out cause to the problem with the Governor."

"By using the Ayire clan's gift of time...?" Mika guessed.

"En...my grandfather, he was clan leader at the time. He allowed the family members to go back in time to search for reasons to why that," Celaena pointed at the computer screen, " was happening and hopfully solve the situation. They used all their energy to travel back and forth, from the past to the present for months until finally my father found something…"

"What was it?" Mika impatiently asked.

Celaena shook her head, "I don't know, but it was enough to have my whole clan killed because of it. If my brother wasn't away at the time, I doubt I would be here."

"Why is that?" Saavi asked.

"When my brother found out what had happened in Sunmond City, he went back in time to try save our clan but he could only save my mother who was pregnant with me at the time. However, her body was weaken and after giving birth to me months after, she died too…"

They could hear to pain and anger in her voice as Celaena recounted the demise of her whole clan.

"My brother and I have been looking for clues ever since. The only information we had to work with to finding out the truth was what our mother had told my brother and what we could find out from files that weren't destroyed."

Everyone turned to look back at the mminuscule amount of information Mika was able to find, and felt heartbroken for Celaena and her brother.

A city and a powerful clan lost in a day.
