Ailwin could see the dire situation Braeden and the solders were in. If they couldn't make it through the next couple of turns, he knew he will never see his friend again.

Racking his brain for a solution, Ailwin peeped over at Ruven to see him eyeing the tablet. The sorry and fretful look on his face was gone, and replacing it was shrewd look in his eyes. Ailwin was so taken aback by this change that he forgot what he wanted to ask him.

Who the h.e.l.l is this guy? Is he really as weak-minded as I think he is or has he been toying with me? 

Controlling the need to exposed Ruven, Ailwin chose to wait and watch to see what Ruven was up to first.

"Ruven…"

"Yes, Prince Ailwin…" Ruven's face reverted back to the face Ailwin was used to seeing on him.

"Where are the flame sh.e.l.ls?"

"We don't have any...we have been using torches to kill the creatures."

 "Torches?"

"Yeah, with materials in the city being limited. We have to improvise by using the wood in the surrounding forest." Ruven replied off-handedly.

Ailwin stared at Ruven as he spoke, "I thought Governor Kelim didn't allow people to leave the city..."

Ruven was startled, he didn't realized Governor Kelim had said this to Ailwin. 

"Heh...Governor Kelim must have been mistaken, we have let people into the forest to hunt for food and chop down wood…" Ailwin nodded his head, making Ruven believe he saw logic in his words.

"Then show me where the torches are…" Leaving his seat and making sure to grab the tablet, Ailwin left the room.

Tsk...d.a.m.nit, I almost had that f**ken tablet! Ruven exited the room to catch up with Ailwin.

Two turns down and one more to go, the rover was not doing so well. So far, two of the pa.s.sengers' doors were gone along with all the windows, and the back left wheel was riding on metal.

Braeden wanted to speed up but was afraid of tipping over the rover, leaving him and his men out in the open for these creatures to attack them freely.

Right now, his Squadron leader and one of his men were already in danger of being ripped out the land rover as both of their doors were gone.

Coming up on the next dark turn, Braeden suddenly hears his wristband go off.

"Answer it." He glance at the squad leader, who picked up the fallen wirstband off the rover's floor.

"Braeden." Ailwin's voice came over the speaker.

"En…"

"They are killed by fire…"

"I know." Braeden was too focus on the upcoming turn to understand what Ailwin was trying to say to him.

"General Gilwenys...use your head," Ailwin stwitch in tone and his address of Braeden had the soldiers in the car straightening their spines, "Do you or any of your men have flame sh.e.l.ls on you?"

"We used some already….and the rest dropped from the rover…" Braeden cursed his lack of attention when the monsters started attacking the rover. 

On the last turn when the creature attacked the rover and pulled off two of its doors, he had swerved too quickly to the side causing his men to lose some of their weapons and gear. "Sh*t…" Was Ailwin's reaction. He had hoped that the men would still have some on them. It would have helped them on the last turn until he could reached them.

"Where are you…?" Braeden could hear the wind blowing from Ailwin' side of the comm.

"Heading towards your position."

"WhWhy!"

"You need help."

 "Don't. We will make it," Braeden's grip on the steering tighten, the rest of the soldiers in the rover wanted to believe what he was saying was true but the next dark turn was leering at them.

Braeden rev the engine, and sped through the next turn.

*KREEEEEEECH!* *BOOM!*

Something slammed into their vehicle as it took the sharp turn. The rover's wheels lift off the ground, tilting to one side and toppling over.

"Braeden!….Braeden!" Ailwin called out, but received no response. Pus.h.i.+ng the speed level up on his rover, Ailwin took off to reach where Braeden and his men had crashed.

Sitting in her room, Mika was wondering what the h.e.l.l was taking Ailwin so long to get back to her.

It been over an hour since they last talked and now Kaze couldn't even get through to him.

"Still nothing…?"

"En...the signal is not even going through." Kaze was outside the city with the rest of the Shadow Wolves army, setting up camp.

"How about the King's people?" Mika worried when she had read his first message.

"They have been complaining about not entering the city, but overall they have been silent and  haven't made any moves yet."

"Good...keep an eye on them and let Ailwin know when you get in contact with him...that I'm on my way."
