The men waited in the shop counting the minutes until sunrise, when an hour into the wait they saw their Commander's rover driving down the street.

"Sir…"

"Hold positions!" He cursed himself for taking off his wristband, he couldn't get incontact Ailwin.

Just as Braeden was contemplating walking out of the shop, Ailwin's rover drove off.

"Sir, isn't the Commander in danger?"

"Yes….but he is still in a better condition than we are. We will wait, if he comes back around they will make our move then."

"Yes, sir." The men felt their confidence increasing, their Commander's rover had enough s.p.a.ce for all of them to fit inside.

However, two hours later they felt their hopes slowly simmering back down.

"Sir." The squad leader called from the back of the room.

"What is it?" They only had one hour left, the sun will soon be up, all the needed to do was stay quiet and hold this position.

"The two in the back aren't doing well. The swelling in their legs is cutting off their blood circulation. If they don't get treated soon, they will lose their legs or even worst…"

Braeden didn't need his squadron leader to say anything more, he knew the dangers of untreated injuries.

"Okay, we'll move. The monster hasn't come back around, maybe we can make a run for it."

"Yes, sir." 

Looking out the store front window, Braeden surveyed the area for any movement. He would rather wait this out until the morning sun rose, but his men didn't have the luxury of time.

"Sir, we are ready." The squad leader could see that the General was hesitating.

"Okay, we are going to move to the next corner store. If thing stays clear, we move again to the next corner. Once we reach there, it's only 15 meters to the government building. "Good, on my mark…..3….2….go!" Opening the door, Braeden stepped out and looked around the area before allowing his men outside to start heading down the street to the next store.

The men moved swiftly, even with two disabled men between them. Braeden thought they would be able to make it to the next block.

However, who would have thought that the monster had never left the area. 

Braeden caught the movement first and yelled at his men to get back, but it was too late.

The creature move fast as it swept the first two men off their feet, throwing them a couple of feet away from the group.

"Shoot!" Braeden pulled out his weapon and was shooting at the shadow creepy towards his fallen men before the rest could even understand what had happen.

Aiming their guns at the shadows, they began to shoot while Braeden rushed towards one of the down men. He was out cold on the road unaware of the danger over him.

The other man had his gun out was shooting, but his head hit the ground pretty hard making his shooting go wide.

Braeden was almost to the unconscious man when he heard a scream from behind him.

"Ahhhhh!"

The monster had ripped a chunk of meat out of the other fallen soldier's leg before it could get a good shot off on his gun.

Braeden was in a dilemma, if he went the soldier who was unconscious the monster will finish off the other and if he went to help that man, he was sure that the monster will go after the other.

Just when Braeden was about to make his decision on who to sacrifice, he heard Ailwin calling his name.

"Braeden...!"

Braeden had turned to head to see Ailwin coming down the road at full speed. Seeing this, Braeden didn't hesitate any longer and rushed towards the man who was bleeding.

Ailwin had searched the city looking for the creature after he couldn't find Braeden's group anywhere. Realizing that the sun was about to sunrise he heading back towards the government building when he heard shouting coming from up ahead.

Understanding that neither Braeden nor the monster had left the original area and they were now back to fight each other, Ailwin sped down the road.

Stopping the next to the unconscious man, Ailwin threw him inside the rover before getting back inside to stop next to the other four soldier on the side of the road.

"Get in!" Ailwin didn't have to tell them twice. 

While they got inside, Ailwin took over providing cover. With him throwing the last of his flame sh.e.l.ls at the creature, Braeden and his bleeding companion was able to reach the rover.

"Get in, quickly!"

As the rest of the men got the bleeding comrade inside the rover, Braeden and Ailwin continue to shoot until they were the only two left outside.

"Get inside, Braeden."

"...no, you-"

"Get inside now, Braeden!" Ailwin had turned his head at the wrong time to yell at Braeden as the monster had chose that time to attack him. Noticing his friend was about to be in mortal danger, Braeden leaped on top of Ailwin, dragging him down to the floor as the monster's claws and teeth bit into Braeden's neck and back.

"Sh*t!" Ailwin raise his hand at the creatures' head at point blank range and kept pulling the tigger until the thing got off of them.

Ailwin didn't know if he harmed it or not, but it was finally running away from them.

Flipping Braeden off his body, all Ailwin could see was blood coating every part of his body.

"Commander…?" 

"Help me, get him inside the rover." Was all he said at seeing the bad state his friend was in after saving his life.

"Yes…" The Squadron leader and Ailwin carefully moved Braeden into the pa.s.senger seat.

Ailwin made the Squadron leader drive while he called for Kaze to enter to city with all their healers.
