Packing all her tools and her clothes, the last thing she grabbed was her swords.

Opening the case, she glazed down at her twin blades. They had been restored beautifully.

Mr. Vulas, sure can do wonders…

The polish Ospian metal gleamed when the natural light in the room hit its surface.

Think back to when she pick them up, she could help, but to smile.

~Months back before they left for the academy~

A month had gone past and Saavi, Jonas and Mikaela were set to leave next week. They need to get all the last minute items for school before leaving.

When entering the blacksmith shop to pick up their weapons, they saw a grumpy Mr. Vulas sitting behind the counter holding a smooth wooden case.

"Finally, you show up…" Was the first thing out of his mouth at seeing Mika entering his store again.

"Yes, I have decided to grace you with my presence." Mika walked to the counter and hopped up onto a stool.

He choose to ignore her smart remark. The only thing he was focusing on was getting her out of his shop as quickly as possible before she makes his high blood pressure take his life.

"Here, open it...you two," Pointing at Saavi and Jonas, "...your things are in the back. Kailu should have them ready for you." He waved his hand to shoo them away before Mika could reveal his work.

Sitting at the counter in front of the case, Mika slowly opened it to find her twin blades neatly lying inside.

"This is not how they looked before…" Mika said as she took out the twin blades, she was recalling the sketch he drew out for her a month ago.

"I upgraded them some more...don't worry, my work in flawless." He liked seeing the amazed look on Mika's face.

Little girl, do you know who should be honored…!

"People who do flawless work don't have to say their work is flawless." Mika quietly reminded him of her words a month earlier.

"Just try it out." Vulas held his forehead feeling a headache coming on.

Is it so wrong about praising one's own work!?

He pointed to a block of solid wood to side of the door. It already had nicks and slices from previous sword fighters testing their weapons on it.

Mika gripped the twin swords, the feel of the even balance and light weight in her hands was simply incredible. Walking up to the block of wood that was taller than she is, she swung the blades in an elegant arc across its body, slicing the block in two.

"It cuts wood like b.u.t.ter…." Mika whispered, marvelling at the results of her restored blades.

Vulas was shocked as well, he didn't think a fledgling so young would be such an amazing sword fighter.

She was able to handle the blades with care and strength. Who taught she young lady?

Seeing Mika execute a simply move on the block of wood and being able to cut it in half, had Vulas' mind running with new ideas for weapons to create for her.

"Thank you, they are perfect." Mika was wholeheartedly gracious for his work, she never thought she will have her swords again.

Coming back to himself, Mr. Vulas stopped Mika from putting the swords into the case.

"I added something else to the weapon, other than the look and feel of them…" Vulas held out his hands for the twin swords, "...you told me that you used to be able to combine the swords to make a double-ended bladed shaft."

Mika nodded her head, watching as Vulas combined her swords into the Double-ended bladed shaft.

"There is one other thing your swords can do," Vulas pulled out a wire from the top of one end of the blades and attached it to the end of the other blade tip, creating a bow, "I saw that you also have the finger tips of an archer."

Handing the bow to Mika, Vulas gestured again to the now half block of wood.

Mika was so astonished it took her a moment to realized she was holding a bow.

"Whhow did you do this?" Mika examined her weapon carefully and saw that one of the blades hid a small compartment where the wire is stored and on the other blade a small hole was made to easily connect the wire.

"Are you going to try it or not?" Vulas placed an arrow on the countertop, waiting to see Mika's archery skills.

A feeling of excitement course through she fingertips as she picked up the arrow and took aim.

The arrow struck the block of wood hard, making it topple backwards.

Mika was so happy she wanted to cry. After her family's heir loom burnt to a crisp, she thought she didn't want to hold another bow again. However, this bow in her hands made her feel like her mother's bow was still with her.

"How much?" Was all she said to Vulas after she was done shooting.

"What?" He couldn't understand what she was trying to say to him.

"How much would you charge for this work?"

"I have already gave you the price."

"Okay, I'll pay the remain amount."

Hmph...now you see why my work isn't cheap. Vulas thought as he smirked at her .

Yet, he must admit it was worth the ha.s.sle to restore her blades, if he gets to see a real sword fighter and archer back in his shop again. Only these kind of warriors deserve his weapons.

After paying the remain amount for Mr. Vulas' pricing, Mika left the store happy to have spent more credits in that one shop than she had on all her school gear.
