Honey : The Empire's Treasure 369 Incoming

After coming to a decision with his trusted people, Ailwin spent the rest of the time on the carrier in meetings with his captains and Braeden.

He had offer to give her a seat at the table, but she refused as she had other things that needed her attention.

Leaving Ailwin and the rest to their own devices, Mika spent the better part of the journey in her mind's s.p.a.ce, working with her nanos and copy Yumsa.

Just like that, two weeks pa.s.sed and they were about to reach the residence of Prince Ailwin, home to the Shadow Wolves Army.

"I'm pretty surprised that the journey here has been so smooth… I was expecting the King to send wars.h.i.+ps after us. It doesn't feel like we have just escaped with our lives." Hycis looked out of the cafeteria windows at the bright skies and beautiful landscapes ahead of them.

Celaena gaze out of the windows with him, but instead on feeling at eased she felt like this was the calm before the storm. Sure enough, her feeling was right.

"You shouldn't speak too soon…" She said as she pointed towards Prince Ailwin's palace.

Hycis followed her directions and saw cl.u.s.ter of structures surrounding a majestic palace in the middle. As they got closer, Hycis could make out two of the Kaia Kingdom's wars.h.i.+ps hovering right above the small town-like residence.

Hycis slapped his mouth.

When did I develop gifts to curse myself!?

With the sight of the wars.h.i.+ps ahead of them, all the air carriers went on high alert.

The ringing alarms woke Mika from her mediation. Exiting the side room Ailwin had allotted to her after the whole punching him in sleep fiasco, Mika made her way to the navigation deck.

Having accepted Mika as their sister-in-law, the soldiers didn't block her access.

"Ailwin…?" She called out to him when he was too busy to notice she was on deck.

"Mika… Did the alarms disturb you?"

"En…but what's happening?"

"Remember a few days ago, we have been wondering why the King hasn't come after us, well…" He indicated the big screen in front of them. Two aircrafts, twice the size of his air carriers, hovered over his home.

"He was waiting for us to come to him…"

Mika stared at the screen astounded, this was the first time she was seeing Kaia Kingdom's wars.h.i.+ps.

She thought Ailwin's air carriers were very state-of-the-art, but those wars.h.i.+ps made Ailwin's air carriers look puny.

She now understood the need for the alarms. One hit from the weapons on those s.h.i.+ps and they could kiss their lives goodbye.

"What's the plan?"

"To not get shot!" Braeden shouted out from behind them. Two weeks of therapy had Braeden as good as new. He was able to walk and train like he use to with a little moderation.

Mikaela ignored Braeden's comment and waited for Ailwin's answer.

"Um...well, to not get shot…" Ailwin didn't have a better answer for her. The wars.h.i.+ps were faster, more agile and stronger than their carriers. 

Which meant they couldn't out run them, they couldn't fight weapon to weapon against them and they couldn't hide from them. 

Furthermore, their position placed them right above the families and the rest of his soldiers down on land.

This is clearly their way of threatening him by taking his people hostage.

Mika looked at everyone on deck and saw worried expressions for their friends and family below those wars.h.i.+ps.

SH*T! This is not good…

With everyone concerned about the people on the ground, they can't think of a proper plan.

*Bing!* *Bing!* *Bing!*

"Commander, they are on the comms! Should I open the connection?" A soldier asked.

"Yes, and put it up on the screens…" He wanted Braeden, Mikaela and all of his captains to hear the conversation.

"Yes, sir." The soldier cut off the alarms and connected the incoming comm to the screen.

"Commander Qinvyre?" A mid-age man came on the flat screen. Dressed in the uniform of the red and black, Ailwin surmised that this person is the Commander of the royal guards.

"Yes, and who are you?"

"I am the Commander for the Royal Guards, Pharom Wynfina." The man on screen had greying brown hair, closely cut to his head on top with a long braid in the back falling over his shoulder.

He stood proudly in front of the screen, as if he was waiting for Ailwin to bow to him after he introduced himself.

"Hmm? Then do you mind explaining Commander Wynfina, why you are stationed above my home without my permission?" 

When Ailwin didn't show any regard towards him and his t.i.tle, Pharom, sneer on screen.

"Heh...Commander Qinvyre, I am acting on his majesty's orders-"

"Commander Wynfina, are you insinuating that the King is breaking the law?" Ailwin used the King's name just like Commander Wynfina was about to do.

Putting Pharom in a very awkward position. If Commander Wynfina, says he is only following the King's orders to occupied another Commander's lands then the King would be openly breaking military laws.

If Commander Wynfina doesn't use that King's authority to invade Prince Ailwin's landing then he would be acting on his own.

While they was talking, Mikaela got an idea and raced off towards the office.

 Ailwin's saw Mika leave from the corner of his eye. He wanted to ask her where she was going, but refused to break eye contact with Commander Wynfina.

Braeden also saw Mika leaving and chose to follow her, This brat is not the type to run away, what is she up to?

With Braeden chasing after Mika, Ailwin stop worrying about her and focus on Commander Wynfina on the screen.

"Prince Ailwin...you jest," You f**king little imp! How dare you try to bully and embarra.s.s me in front of my men! "The King has sent me here to help you…"

"Help me? What exactly would I need your help with, Lord Pharom…?" Ailwin looked clearly show disdain at Pharom, for thinking they were on the same level.
