"I await your orders."

Mika watched Kaze from above. She didn't have much faith in this fellow. Saavi had told how he manhandles her. Plus she didn't want a babysitter. She understood her father intentions but doing things her way and not as the young miss of the Amara clan was her joy. If she was being watched by this m.o.f.o how will she be able to relax?

It was bad enough with Saavi going with her to be her mother's spy. Now this guy.

"That's okay. I don't need you. You can go back to your old post, I'll talk to my father about this."

Did he get dismiss before even doing his job? Does young miss Mikaela hold a grudge for what happened? If he was thrown back to Lord Mano not even after a day, what face will he have to his family and the other guards?

"Youngest miss Mikaela, I am deeply sorry for what happened. Please allow me to make it up. I will use my life to safeguard yours."

"Uhh.....your life. Mmm...what else you got?" Mika sat down in the head chair.

"What?"

"Other than your life what else do you have to offer, for me to take you in as my personal guard?" Mika response was said quite lazily.

"Youngest miss might not know this, but one's life is the most important possession one can give to another. Please don't look down on it so." Did she think he had infinite lives, that he was just giving them away at will?

"Yes, yes, yes. I'm not looking down on your life. I was just thinking....if you use your life to save mine, then how much use will I have gotten out of you. You are not immoral. How many times you think you can use your life to save mine. Once your dead, I'll be out of a personal guard again. No, no, no that won't do. So what else do you have to offer?..."

Her words had left him speechless.

Was the youngest miss killing him off before he could show his skills? It's true if he gave his life for hers, he would be dead but it shouldn't happen on the first day!

Glimpsing the emotions in Kaze's eyes. Mika knew her words agitated him if he could leave in a huff her father's babysitter would be gone.

"Captain can you answer my question. If not please leave." Mika wanted a bath and sleep. Her mother wanted to see her bright and early every morning for training before the month's end. She was going to need her sleep.

Mika stood up, making her way to the door. Sensing he was about to lose his second job, Kaze blurted out the first thing that came to his mind.

"I offer my loyalty."

Mika stopped in her tracks.

"What did you say?..."

"I offer you my undying loyalty. Even in death, it will stay with you."

"Isn't your loyalty to the Amara clan head? You were just captain."

"No. I am your personal guard and only your personal guard. Not the Amara's."

"How do I know you speak the truth."

Kaze pulled out his dagger slicing his hand, he looked towards Mika waiting. Mika saw he was trying to make a blood oath.

Giving her small hand over, Kaze sliced Mika hand. Palms facing each other, fingers intertwined, Kaze made his oath.

"I hereby swear, my loyalty and trust to Mikaela Crystalmist Amara. Should I ever break this loyalty and trust she has in me, my body shall rot and my soul shall seek retribution for eternity. "

Finis.h.i.+ng the oath, light sparked from their join hands, zipped down his arm and traveled into his heart. Oath settled into place; Kaze wanted to pull his hand from Mika's but she wouldn't let him. Before he could question her, Mika's words stunned him.

"I hereby swear, as Kaze Darkwing Amara's boss. To protect and cherish his life and loyalty. If ever I should betray this oath, my body will rot and my soul will seek retribution for eternity." Light sparked one again from their joined hands, zipped down her arm and settled into her heart.

Finished, she released his hand and bandaged her own. Stupefy, Kaze was rooted to his spot on his knees on the sitting room's floor.

"Now... you are my personal guard." Mika left the room for her bath and dinner, but not before giving Saavi orders to see to Kaze accommodations.

One week later.

"What did you hear?... What is Lord Mano planning?" Lady Delju and Sienna sat in their garden, as Lady Delju questioned her personal maid.

"Replying to Lady Delju, Lord Mano has made plans to send youngest miss Mikaela for treatment."

Since the whole fiasco with Kamryn and Lulu. Sienna advised her mother to stay quiet and away from the whole situation.

"Treatment? Isn't she already wearing a mask..." Lady Delju looked at her maid.

The issue with Mika's poisoning has been kept under wraps. Lord Mano didn't want the outside knowing about this disgrace. He put the elders and guards who were present at the meeting hall that day, under strict secrecy.

For the past two months, Lady Delju and Sienna have been trying their hardest to get the whole truth. As of now they only knew of Mika's facial scar.

"Yes, Lady Delju. I heard some of the youngest miss Mikaela's courtyard maids talking. They said that youngest miss is going to the steppes."

"The Steppes!...why would Mika be going to the steppes?"
