"My King, I will never do it again," Creepy promises with a pained voice before disappearing from the floor. 

Fu Sheng turns his gaze to the small figure sitting against the wall with a horrified face. She's afraid of him. He doesn't care anymore. In the past, he might have thought for a second or two about the effect that he has on her. It doesn't matter now. He doesn't want to treat her as his true mate. The more distance they have, the better it is. It's even better if she keeps showing that fearful expression. He won't bother about changing her mind.  

But did she has to scream that loudly though? It was just a miserable sentient being without a master? He wouldn't have rushed here if she didn't scream madly. 

What is she doing in this area of the castle? This is too far from the place allotted to her. Why can't his people do one thing right? They only have to keep her out of his sight. She's only a convert, not even a month old in her vampire life. She's not sharp either. Why can't they manage a single woman? An idiotic sentient creature manages to make her scream like the hunters have invaded the castle. She even fell to her darkness twice under their care.

"Can you find your way back to your room?" He keeps his face expressionless. He hasn't received a moment of sleep. There's a council to deal with. The hunters must have contacted the council after they left. The council have been unable to control the situation in the outside world. He hasn't responded to their message. He can't trust the council and the hunters. His people's safety comes first.

His cold voice wakes her up. She tries to stand up and falls on her knees again. Her legs are weak against the pressure that Fu Sheng is exhibiting. Tired, Fu Sheng suppresses his presence and walks toward her. He reaches to grab her by her arm. He blinks, taking back his hand. He inserts them in his pockets, looking at her with his unfeeling eyes.

'If you push me away, I will never touch you.'

Huang Qiuyan stands up again, leaning on the wall to support herself. She has noticed his reluctance. He is keeping his words. "I think that I can go by myself."

He raises his chin slightly. "Go then."

[I thought that you want to get to know him, Elder Sister.]

Seeing her face turning blank again, he lets out an exasperated sigh. She blinks and meets his gaze. A blush appears on her face. He feels it through the faint link between them. He looks away first, not responding. She places her palm on her face. This is too awkward for her. It would have been better if she jumps to her death right now. 

Is she just going to stand there? Fu Sheng is losing patience. If he hasn't made that promise, he would have carried her back to his chamber. He shrugs. He doesn't regret saying it.

A ghost of a smile appears on his lips and disappears before Huang Qiuyan can catch it. He isn't wavering.  "Did it hurt a lot?" 

"Yes, it did." Huang Qiuyan ma.s.sages the crown of her head unconsciously.

"You deserve it." For falling into negative thoughts easily. 

She grits her teeth. "You are doing it intentionally, aren't you? You did it because I rejected you."

He raises his brow. The woman never fails to impress him with her stupid brain. It's astounding how she manages to decipher his actions in such a way. 

"Huang Qiuyan, if you mention rejection again, I will forget that you are still my mate." He steps closer to her, not touching her. "I will put you to sleep for eternity."

He has the urge to do that. He might just put her in a coffin and bury her somewhere in the castle. If he does that, he doesn't have to worry about her. He won't have to face this humiliation either.

"Put me to sleep?" She widens her eyes. "Like Snow White? Are you an evil witch?"
