Explosions was happening across the entirety of the city, w.a.n.g Ling was running for the meantime and old Emissary was enjoying himself as he toyed w.a.n.g Ling.

"Haha, I don't know what custom this is but this is a good one. My dear successor, make sure you do not die. Oh, another one is incoming!" The Gray Figure was having fun as it watches the chaos unfolds.

w.a.n.g Ling was running around the city, he could quite clearly tell that this old man was an eighth meridian Immortal. Even if he unleashes his full might without fear of being detected by the Holy Race, he will still be unable to kill this old man unless he is prepared to exchange life for a life.

"Hmm, Young Immortal, are you just going to keep running away? Remember, unless you pa.s.s my test you will be the one paying for the damages inflicted on the city."

w.a.n.g Ling's eyes widened as he heard the words of the old man. He was still unsure as to what this little culture he was playing into. Was this the s.a.d.i.s.tic old man's selfish games or was it a genuine law? w.a.n.g Ling did not know, but upon hearing the old man's words he finally woke up and decide what it is he ought to do.

"I'll take down that old man." w.a.n.g Ling turned his head back to look at the old man chasing after him with explosive qi. This technique of the old emissary I somewhat troublesome, but it is not so strong that it is impossible to overcome.

w.a.n.g Ling looked around the area and noticed the lack of civilians roaming around. He had already noticed this simple fact, but this is the only time he finally understood how he should use this against the old man.

"Young Immortal, are you a rat? Face me like an honorable brat!" The old emissary howled at w.a.n.g Ling who had been fleeing all this time. Gathering his qi on his palms, red lights flickered on the old emissary's palms, like a firefly that came alive the light flew towards w.a.n.g Ling.

"Fer! Come out!" A black lion came out of w.a.n.g Ling's right hand and then pounced at the red lights. The Black Lion roared and had the red flicker explode in exchange from its form.

A smokescreen was formed, it provided w.a.n.g Ling a place to hide from the old emissary. However, the emissary did not bother with such minor tricks, instead, it didn't even hesitate to strike its palms, "[Thousand Exploding Palms]!"

One giant palm appeared out of nowhere and blew the smoke away. The emissary expected for w.a.n.g Ling to be hiding within the dark smoke, but as he saw no one was behind the smoke, the old emissary smiled.

But he was not just some senile old man, he abruptly turned around and waved his palm towards the sneaky sword trying to cut his neck, "Nicely done Young Immortal, you used the smoke to move away and even sneaked to my back. You didn't make a sound that will compromise your presence, but the divinity of your sword had already attacked me before you could ever approach me!"

The moved in a blink of an eye and grabbed w.a.n.g Ling's sword in midair. But as he tried, w.a.n.g Ling's eyes shone brightly and his unique crimson pupils revolved. Despite the absurd speed of the old man, w.a.n.g Ling processed everything he sees so fast that everything seemed to slow down.

He then sneakily circulated his Immortal Qi with his h.e.l.lish Qi. By diluting the h.e.l.lish qi with plain old Immortal Qi, the effects and augmentations of his h.e.l.lish Qi would lessen, but it will be enough for w.a.n.g Ling's body to jump levels for a moment.

With a surge of qi, w.a.n.g Ling's entire being exploded with power. For a split second, he can now easily dispatch a third meridian Immortal. It may seem to be useless augmentation, but that sudden burst of power was enough to quicken the speed of his blade's travel.

He rendered the wind to howl, Reaper swiftly made its way pa.s.s through the defenses of the old emissary. The old emissary saw this and was astounded, he wanted to react, but there was not enough time.

When w.a.n.g Ling suddenly showed a burst of strength, the sword was already just a few inches away from his neck, and now that w.a.n.g Ling's short sword was moving like the sharp talons of a phoenix trying to take his neck, the old emissary feared w.a.n.g Ling.

Death was coming, slash*! w.a.n.g Ling's sharp short sword was like lightning that descended from the heavens, it was uncontested in terms of power, no one of the same levels would be able to meet it, but as it touched the old emissary's neck, the sharpest blade on w.a.n.g Ling's a.r.s.enal stopped on its tracks!

He knew it was dangerous, but no matter how much he tried getting his sword to dig into the old man's neck it never moved pa.s.s the skin he managed to cut.

The old emissary held w.a.n.g Ling's black short sword and tossed it away from his neck. With his vice-like grip, w.a.n.g Ling was tossed away with the Reaper. The old emissary touched the sword wound and frowned. He looked at w.a.n.g Ling who had just regained his balance and felt irritated. He flicked his finger and then sent w.a.n.g Ling flying with a mysterious force.

"Tsk, I really want to fail you for actually wanting to kill an emissary, but I will let you off because you have my interest. Kid, I'll take you to the Black Dragon's Final Battlefield." The old emissary twisted his wrist and then had w.a.n.g Ling come to his side.

w.a.n.g Ling was dragged by a mysterious force onto the old man's hand. The old man looked intently at w.a.n.g Ling and then smiled, "If I take on the battlefield those arrogant brats should act more subdued. That is if you are to perform well, let us go!"

The old emissary did not even bother looking at the damage done by him and w.a.n.g Ling…no, w.a.n.g Ling was a hundred percent sure that the old man was the one that destroyed the city, he was just the casualty.

w.a.n.g Ling flew out of the city with the old man, they were moving at a fast rate and being dragged by the old emissary was rather hard. However, w.a.n.g Ling who had been dragged as such momentarily remembered something important and shouted aloud, "Wait, wait, stop! I can't go to the Black Dragon's Battlefield just yet!"

The old emissary stopped on his tracks and had w.a.n.g Ling face him, "Don't act like a b.i.t.c.h now, brat. You already accepted my offer, what is there to hesitate for? Let us go already!"

w.a.n.g Ling breathed in a mouthful of air and looked at the old man, "I apologize, here…"

"Don't talk in such a manner, it sounds irritating so stop it, I don't know why but hearing it from you sounds forced so stop it. Talk normally." The old emissary demanded.

w.a.n.g Ling sighed, but thanked the old emissary deep within, "Alright, alright I'll talk normally; look, it is not like I am backing out but I wish to stay in the Cloudless City for two months, I am currently waiting for someone, and if my name reverberates in the different states she should get to where I am in a month or less. Do not worry, I'll drop out of the Heavenly Dragon Selection, I already got what I wanted anyway."

w.a.n.g Ling explained. He only wanted to gain some fame from the Heavenly Dragon Selection and from what he had shown today, he was quite sure that his name would resound all around the empire without much problem.

The old emissary thought about it and then looked at w.a.n.g Ling's stubborn eyes before sighing, "Brat, I normally wouldn't do this but I'll let you do it because I actually forgot to pay for the destruction we caused, and the other beastman who requested to come with us if you decide to leave is also back there so I will now take you back."

w.a.n.g Ling looked at the old emissary and thought to himself, [Was everyone in the Lower Heaven this shameless?] meeting Fjord, and this old emissary before meeting other people had already led w.a.n.g Ling to stereotype the people of the Lower Heaven as shameless.

They flew back to the Cloudless City and the old emissary was met with the Lord who collected the fee. Fjord was also there, screaming and shouting as he felt indignant.

With w.a.n.g Ling's sudden appearance as one of the youngest, if not the being the youngest Immortal his name was already quite the talk. But added the 'trial' of the emissary which led to w.a.n.g Ling using his Divine Sword Qi and the fact that he pa.s.sed the exam in a single round no less, w.a.n.g Ling became the talk of many saying he was the only Divine Sword of the Heavenly Dragon Empire; at the age below a hundred of course.

Many expected w.a.n.g Ling to advance to the Heavenly Dragon Selection with full glory, but the next day it became known that w.a.n.g Ling chose to remain in the Cloudless City instead of partic.i.p.ating in the Selection.

A mix reception resulted from his actions, but w.a.n.g Ling didn't think any of it as he instead chose to cultivate his soul in the Cloudless City instead of minding the rumors. What matters is the fact that w.a.n.g Ling managed to spread his name and nothing more.

He also managed to avoid getting too much attention from the Heavenly Dragon Empire by choosing to stop his advance on the Selection. From what he gathered from Fjord, it would seem that people of the Heavenly Dragon Sect pick their disciple from the compet.i.tion.

 He wouldn't want to accept anyone as a master anyway so it was a good thing he stopped, it also made him avoid the conflict of aristocrats if there are any. And besides, choosing to stop he partic.i.p.ation somehow increased his popularity, so all was good.

In a weeks' time, Fjord would come back from the Heavenly Dragon Selection as the second placer. w.a.n.g Ling doubted if Bai Xue had joined and won the Heavenly Dragon Selection but his doubts was cleared by Fjord's words. The winner was a beastman of the same cultivation, the contestant was a man and was a famous name in the Heavenly Dragon Empire.

w.a.n.g Ling never really cared for anything other than gaining fame so he let it go.

After this whole event, w.a.n.g Ling cultivated while waiting for Bai Xue. After cultivating for two months, w.a.n.g Ling reached the peak of early First Meridian.

It took him two months to achieve such a leap. It was quite hard for him, and only now did he finally managed to see how hard advancement to the future would be. 80 years seems awfully shorter now.

w.a.n.g Ling waited for two months and Bai Xue never came, so, he left with the old emissary for the Black Dragon's Final Battlefield.

However at the same time as w.a.n.g Ling's decision of going to the Black Dragon's Final Battlefield. The Chaos Qi that had been unleased in the Universe fluctuated and messed with s.p.a.ce. Some of the worlds that had been sealed off when the Father disappeared became non-enterable area as a h.e.l.lish Qi, Angelic Qi, and Chaos Qi ravaged the area.

But on some places the s.p.a.ce, or to be specific, the seal of one world began to loosen even more.

In an area of the Lower h.e.l.l, Lower Heaven, and other minor realms a dark rift in s.p.a.ce was created. It mattered not where it was but a rift was created, and as it did, beings of pure darkness emerged.
