At last, when it became hard to stay in the room, he walked out of the room. Corridor lights turn on automatically, marking his presence as he walked down the stairs. Walking into the kitchen, he switches on the flame to heat a cup of milk and added a pinch of cinnamon to it.

But soon he sensed someone's presence in the kitchen. Thanks to his special training, he is always vigilant of his surroundings. His brows furrowed as he paid attention to the minute sound coming from under the kitchen counter. It sounded like a slurping sound as if someone was licking something.

Clenching his fists tightly, he braced himself to beat this intruder black and blue. As soon he crouched down positioning himself defensively, a beautiful angel like figure clenched her eyes tightly as she jumped in fear.

"Mei??"

Sitting under the counter, holding a big bucket of Chocolate caramel ice cream in her hands, she was looking like a kid who got caught stealing food. Feng Jianyu's heart melts like the very ice-cream at the sight of her frightened rabbit look.

Licking the ice-cream from her lips, she peeked opening her right eye. She blinked multiple times at the man in front of her before snapping out from her thoughts.

"What the h.e.l.l? Feng Jianyu, don't you know how scary you're? You should not lurk around in the middle of the night; beautiful girls like me are scared of horrible creatures." Xiu Mei advised her seriously, "Please…. Stay in your room at night. If Uncle Tom or Aunt Mary sees you roaming in the night, I don't think their old heart can withstand this pressure."

Feng Jianyu "..."

He narrowed his eyes sharply at her and retorts back, "Really?? Pot calling the kettle black!! Look at you, with this white attire, open hair, cherry red lips, Uncle Tom and Aunty Mary can take you as a white witch. Don't you think they'll die of heart attack looking at you, roaming in the house?"

They both looked at each other's clothes and then their own clothes. Indeed, Feng Jianyu was wearing all black silk pajama set with 'FJ' printed on the front pocket, while Xiu Mei was wearing white silk nightdress with 'XM' printed on the left side. Finding their banter funny, Xiu Mei bites her lips trying to suppress her laugh. But eventually, they both ended up smiling at the situation. Feng Jianyu's heart skipped a beat looking at her mesmerizing smile. He forgets about everything that had happened throughout the day and surrendered himself completely to the ecstasy of the moment.

He proffered his hand towards her, "Come out my chipmunk…" Xiu Mei eyes him sternly at this endearment, "Don't call me chipmunk!"

Feng Jianyu lovingly brushes her nose, "That's what you are! Only a chipmunk eats food by stuffing it in cheek pouches." Xiu Mei snorts at this.

"Anyway… What's with the Ice-cream? Late night craving?" he asked.

"Tsk… Nightma….. Cough…. I mean, yes… Late night craving" She answered. However, he caught the real truth which almost came out of her mouth.

"And you?" she asked and he truly answered, "Sleeplessness…."

She looked at the milk pan and asked surprisingly, "You drink milk to treat sleeplessness?"

"What's with the surprising reaction?" He asked as he pours the warm milk in the gla.s.s.

"No…. I thought you'd prefer wine or whiskey!" she answered licking the ice-cream from the spoon.

Feng Jianyu smiled, "No… I drink alcohol at business meetings, parties, and sometimes with w.a.n.g s.h.i.+. Other than that I try my best to avoid it" Xiu Mei was impressed hearing this.

He takes the ice-cream tub from her hand before holding the gla.s.s of milk near her lips, "Drink this!"

"Wowww…. I don't want to? And besides, you heated it for yourself. So you drink it…" She turned her head away from the milk.

"Mei…. I've added a pinch of cinnamon to it to aid you with your sleep. C'mon, be a good girl and drink it" He coaxed her like a child, rubbing his palm on her head.

"Nooooo... I don't like the smell of cinnamon. It sucks! Give me my ice-cream tub back." she pinched her nose at the awful smell coming from milk.

Feng Jianyu raised his voice to scold her, "No ice-cream!! If you'll eat anything cold at night it'll slow down your metabolism. Resulting in bloating and indigestion that interferes with night's sleep."

"Argh…. Are you Dr. w.a.n.g?"

"What?"

"Yes….. You are behaving as if you're a doctor. Whatever you said just now, did you yourself understand the meaning of it? Or you have just mugged up to impress others?" she took a step back away from the cinnamon smell.

Feng Jianyu puts the gla.s.s of milk on the kitchen counter before lifting her up by her waist. He makes her sit at the kitchen countertop and traps her in-between his chest by blocking her way out.

"Mei….. I may not be w.a.n.g s.h.i.+, but my grandmother has taught me everything related to Traditional Chinese medicine. If w.a.n.g s.h.i.+ is a Dr. of modern medicine than I'm the doctor of ancient Chinese medicine. Whatever I said just now is a hundred percent verified truth…. Without any doubt"

Under his watchful gaze, Xiu Mei's expression was pitiable as she looked appealingly at him. It slowly dawned on her that he was scolding her for her own benefit and nothing against her. She was out of argument this time.

"Got it," he asked picking the gla.s.s of milk from the counter. Xiu Mei nodded her head like a pecking chicken, "Yes…. but I still refuse to drink the milk. Make it strawberry or orange flavor, then I'll drink it happily" she answered meekly and Feng Jianyu smiled as he lovingly rubbed her head.

Looking at his devilish smile, Xiu Mei feels like a frightened animal who is coaxed before being taken for sacrifice. And her premonition turns out to be true…..

The next second, he pinched her nose with one hand and forcefully makes her drink the whole gla.s.s of milk.

"Good girl!! You finished it in one breath! Was it that tasty?" He teased her by patting her cheeks and moved away from her.

Xiu Mei was not in the position to answer him back. With the twisted face, she was still trying to recover from the taste of cinnamon in her mouth. "Yukkkk….. You're so bad, Feng Jianyu. How can you make me drink the gla.s.s of milk forcefully?" She shouted sticking her tongue out, "I dare you; you do that again with me"

Feng Jianyu raised his brows, "As you wis.h.!.+ Holding another gla.s.s of milk he approached her again"

Xiu Mei yelped clenching her eyes and covering her mouth, "No…. I'm sorry. Please, not again. This time I'll puke…. Sorry…. Sorry…. Sorry….. pleaseeee"

She sneakily opened her eyes to check and was dumbfounded looking at the scene. That second gla.s.s of the milk was for Feng Jianyu. Pressing her lips, she looked at him indignantly as he finishes the gla.s.s of milk.

"Let's go" He lifted her off from the kitchen counter to make her stand on her feet.

"Where?"
