She cried out, "I lost my eyes again. How will I tell him that I didn't take care of his fiancee's eyes? I'm despicable…"

These words alarmed him. The temperature around him turned into a cold icy wind from artic. Feng Jianyu's eyes flashed with killing intent, as more and more layers of the horrible truth of the night are coming out. 'That inhuman b.a.s.t.a.r.d didn't even spare her eyes? She was just a child dammit. Just how much had he made her suffer?'

"Do Something…. Please… Stop the pain, I beg you…"

She stifled, she cried, she struggled in his arms, trying to break free her clasped hands from his tight grip. She wanted to touch her stinging eyes but Jianyu didn't allow her to do this, seeing her desperate situation he knows she is not in her senses and can cause more damage by touching her already sensitive eyes. He hated himself for doing this but it's important for her, so he tightened his heart and refused to buzz.

He was angry, but his tone was extremely gentle when he spoke to her, "Sorry love… just a little while. The doctor is coming… I'm sorry… I didn't know my one action will give you this much pain…. I'm sorry" Her every sob was getting unbearable for him. He would rather let his eyes suffer from this pain than hers. Feeling helpless, he kept on glancing at the door, hoping for the doctor. These 15 minutes seems like an eternity to him.

After making a call Feng Junjie came running to his brother holding the phone. "Bro. Senior cousin is on phone."

"Put the phone on speaker!"

w.a.n.g s.h.i.+: "Jianyu…."

"Dammit come fast… She's in pain!" Feng Jianyu roared angrily.

w.a.n.g s.h.i.+: "I'm coming. The senior ophthalmologist is with me; just explain him briefly what's the situation so he can guide you for the first aid. Phone is on speaker…"

Feng Jianyu explained the situation at his best.

Senior ophthalmologist can hear the m.u.f.fled sound of someone crying in the background. He instructed Jianyu to not let her touch, press or rub her eyes and wipe them with sterilized cotton pads dipped in chilled water to sooth the burning pain.

Feng Junjie heard the instructions, "Bro. I'll get cotton pads and chilled water."

After some time…

When w.a.n.g s.h.i.+ enters inside Xiu Mei's room along with the senior doctor, he noticed the couple in a complete mess. Xiu Mei was sprawled in his brother's arms and he was coaxing her like a child. Both their clothes were wet; don't know if it was because of her tears, sweat or the chilled water with which Jianyu was painstakingly trying to ease out the burning pain in Xiu Mei's eyes. Their hair and clothes were messy and out of place.

Feng Junjie was standing on the side, helping Jianyu in holding the cotton pads on her eyes, because his brother has to clamp the girl tightly in his arms to avoid her touching her eyes.

Her crying had turned into sobs and hiccups… After struggling so much, she had absolutely no strength left…

As soon as Jianyu saw w.a.n.g s.h.i.+, he called out for him, "Hurry up! Help her, please…. Uncle Choy, do something to ease out her pain"

Senior Ophthalmologist, Dr. Choy, was in his late sixties and a fellow colleague working with w.a.n.g s.h.i.+. He has been the eye specialist of the Feng and w.a.n.g family for years and is a close friend of Feng Dingxiong. He is very well acquainted with the Feng brothers since they were kids and is used to being addressed by them as Uncle Choy.

Although he wanted to ask many questions, looking at the condition of the lady in Feng Jianyu's arms he pushed back all the questions at the back of his head.

Pus.h.i.+ng Feng Junjie aside, he first sanitized his hands and removed the cotton pads off of Xiu Mei's eyes to check the condition. She winced in pain when Dr. Choy tries to open her eyelids and flashed the light to see.

"Had she undergone an eye surgery before?" Dr. Choy's question was directed towards Feng Jianyu.

"Y-Yes… C-Complete… corneal tran…splant" Xiu Mei is aware that he doesn't know anything about the past. So she answered it weakly in between her sobs. "Please… J-Just get over with this pain"

"May I know when?"

"S-Six years back… "

"Just one last question… What was the time gap between your surgery and the eye sight loss?"

She didn't answer the question, but biting her lips remained silent and clenched Jianyu's s.h.i.+rt in between her fingers tightly.

"Approx… One year…" Feng Jianyu answered with a tight jaw and looked at her, "Am I right Mei?"

She remained silent, that concludes the answer to be yes….

All three brothers laid their eyes on the woman and felt bad for her. This is the first time when w.a.n.g s.h.i.+ and Feng Junjie were witnessing her vulnerable side too. It was impossible for them to believe that the girl who behaves so strongly in front of them had gone through something like this before.

Her face was red, wet and she looked extremely weak.

After getting the answer Dr. Choy started the treatment without any further delay. He ordered Feng Jianyu to lay her down on the bed and step aside, and while carefully wiping her eyes, he asked w.a.n.g s.h.i.+ to a.s.sist him.

It took barely a few minutes for Dr. Choy to clean her eyes with a special solution and dilute the effects of the medicine used by Jianyu.

Standing behind the doctor, Feng Jianyu heaved a sigh of relief when he noticed her expression relaxed out a little, but did not dare to let down his guards.

"Mei, is it still hurting? Are you feeling uncomfortable? You can tell the doctor…"

Although her eyes were closed, she sensed the pain in his voice and felt bad for how she scared him minutes ago. Raising her hand she called for him and patted the s.p.a.ce beside her on the bed. "Come…."
