Xiu Mei kept sobbing with her face buried in her knees. Why couldn't she talk to him? Why did she run away from there? Why couldn't she pretend that she heard nothing? Why she didn't ask for some time?

She wiped her tears with the hospital gown but stubborn tears won't stop coming out. Feng Jianyu picked her phone and starting reading Lu Xion's message on it.

'Please pick up my call…'

'Talk this out with grandpa…'

'Grandpa Zeng is in hospital. Stop being stubborn and meet him once. He really loves you a lot'

'There is no medicine of regret. Make a rational decision before it's too late'

Xiu Mei s.n.a.t.c.hed her phone from his hands and checked there are more than 200 missed calls of Lu Xion, Wu Shen, and Wu Zixin in the last 24 hours, whereas there was no ending of countless messages on her phone. Every message was asking for her to talk to Mr. Zeng before it's too late.

She wiped her tears furiously. "Why didn't you told me about it? Why didn't you wake me up? Don't you know what the meaning of multiple missed calls is? IT MEANS AN EMERGENCY… AN EMERGENCY DAMMIT!"

"Really? Does it mean emergency? You know that?" He scolded her "If you are so intelligent, then why didn't you talked to Lu Xion the moment you saw his missed calls in the meeting. If not during the meeting then you should have called him later or least you could have dropped a message. But what did you do? Switched it off! Went to the bar to create unnecessary havoc?"

She tried to open her mouth to answer him about her relations.h.i.+p with Mr. Zeng, but words stuck inside her mouth. Blankly she lowered down her head and stared at her phone, reading messages….

Feng Jianyu looked at her impa.s.sively. "By the way wifey, last night you said you'll never talk to Mr. Zeng s.h.i.+hong because he hides the truth of being your grandfather. You also mentioned something about betrayal, trust issues, lies, and no family. Now all of a sudden you are worried about Mr. Zeng! I think you are confused about your feelings"

Xiu Mei looked at him like a statue, not able to understand his words. She herself doesn't know what her exact words were in a drunken stupor. She tried to recall but everything was so blurry that she stopped making any efforts.

"But I never wanted him to die. I just wanted to have some time to sort out the things. No matter what, we are blood-related…. he was still my grandfather" She whimpered, clenching the phone tightly in between her hands that her knuckles turned white.

"Oh! So now you are regretting everything. Do you want to turn back the time clock by 24 hours? Do you have any invention for that? If Yes, please turn back the clock by seven years, back to the night when all this happened. There will be no Mr. Zeng in your life… Easy solution"

Xiu Mei stayed quiet as he attacked her with his sarcasm.

"Mei, let me ask you directly, was your resentment against that old man was worth it? Considering how much he cared for you in your worst time. And that's something you yourself confessed to me. Remember?" She looked at him feeling perplexed and lowered her eyes, remembering how he cared for her during her two year recuperation period on his island. He rummaged the entire world in search of best doctors.

"For once step into Mr. Zeng s.h.i.+hong's shoes and imagine how painful it must be for him to see you in front of his eyes but could never exercise the rights of being a grandfather. Can you imagine the depth of self-control he must have muttered up to hide this truth for seven years? Just imagine his mental condition for that one year during which you were blind? Being the King of Underworld he failed to protect his own granddaughter, how does that feel? Hearing Mr. Zeng every time instead of grandfather, how does that feel?"

He flicked Xiu Mei's head, "Are you getting what I'm saying, you blockhead? Some secrets are too painful to be talked about that it's easy to keep them hidden inside our hearts. But we forget that by doing so, we are harming both the parties. On one side our heart is suffering and on the other someone else'"

Feng Jianyu was trying to knock some sense into his stubborn wife's brain. He knows without settling this matter she will not only affect her health but if anything happened to Mr. Zeng because of this, she will never be able to come out of this trauma. So for his beloved wife's sake, he has to be a little strict for some time and play an act.

"Stop being a jerk now. Your grandfather is right next door, go and meet him once. If not as a granddaughter than meet him as your dear Mr. Zeng, to whom you love so much. Try talking to him. Trust me, it will calm down your heart, and mine too"

"Mr. Zeng is in next room?" She raised her head feeling shocked and asked pointing her finger at the gla.s.s wall between them.

"Yes"

"He is alive?"

"Of course… w.a.n.g s.h.i.+'s G.o.dly skills are simply amazing"

"What you did was a drama to teach me a lesson?"

"Um… cough… Yes"

Xiu Mei gave an annoyed look before jumping over the man, feeling enraged at his exaggerated acting. Holding his neck in her hands she shouted at him. "Feng Jianyu I'm going to strangle you today. How dare you use such a cheap trick on me? Is this how you treat your wife? Mr. Zeng is very much alive and you dare scare me like this"

"But when did I say he is dead? It was your overthinking, not my exaggerated acting" He answered in a playful way, letting her strangle his neck "Love, careful with your husband's neck. You can strangle me, but first, allow me to finish the uncompleted task"

"What task?" she frowned.

"I want to lose my chast.i.ty to my wife… Let's finish the uncomplete deed of that night" He stroked her cheeks gently to wipe the tears off.

"Argh…. Shameless pervert" Her face flushed red till neck as she realized how close she is sitting near the danger zone.
