Xiu Mei stared at him feeling reluctant and asked, "I-I need some time. Mr. Zeng is a good person and he surely loves me a lot. But how can you expect me to accept everything overnight? You are saying as if everything was my fault and what Mr. Zeng did was absolutely right. Can you please not take a side?"

He sighed and pulled her in his arms before talking to her in a soft voice, "If it ever comes to taking sides, this husband will always take his wife's side. But don't expect I'll support you blindly even in wrong decisions. What you both did was wrong. If Mr. Zeng was wrong in hiding the truth than what you did yesterday was not worthy to be praised. Have you ever thought this impulsiveness might be the very reason why Mr. Zeng didn't told you anything? Or why don't you go and ask him the reason behind it?"

Xiu Mei pressed her lips together as whatever Jianyu said was true. She indeed acts on whim and her last night's behavior was a fresh example. Instead of torturing herself and Mr. Zeng why not talk to him and hear out his reasons and tell him that she needs some time.

Xiu Mei entered inside the room with heavy steps hiding a white rose behind her back, which she had plucked from the hospital garden. In the silent room, only the beeps of the machines could be heard. Mr. Zeng was comfortably lying on the bed, probably still in sleep.

A tear dropped from her eyes looking at his pale face. She placed the rose on the side table extended her hand to press down the frown lines on his forehead but it comes back again as if he is disturbed in his sleep too. She had just settled down on the stool when she heard his soft murmur, "My child, come back… don't leave me…"

Her heart broke on watching him so sad and crying in his sleep. She wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes with her fingers and gently caressed his head. "M-Mr. Zeng, I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere…. Please calm down"

Few Hours Later

"It was not a case of a heart attack but a temporary heart condition that's often brought on by stressful situations, such as the death or separation of a loved one. People with this condition may have sudden chest pain or think they're having a heart attack and eventually faints"

"It's called Broken Heart syndrome in which there's a temporary disruption of your heart's normal pumping function in one area of the heart. Thankfully it's treatable, and the condition usually reverses itself in days or weeks. But I'm keeping him under observation for a week to make sure there are no complications"

Xiu Mei wakes up hearing Dr. w.a.n.g's voice and looked around. w.a.n.g s.h.i.+ was explaining Zeng s.h.i.+hong's condition to Lu Xion, holding a detailed a.n.a.lysis report. Unknowingly while coaxing the old man, she slept holding his hands.

She was still in a daze when a trembling hand comes over her head. She looked up and indeed it was Mr. Zeng's hand caressing her hair with a smile on his lips. "Did they disturb your sleep? Should I send them out?" His voice was hoa.r.s.e but gentle and full of love.

"No I'm fine" She walked straight to w.a.n.g s.h.i.+ and s.n.a.t.c.hed the report from his hands.

"Dr. w.a.n.g, will it leave any harmful effect? Did you checked his asthma, it's quite severe too? Can you please do a full health examination on him, he is really careless when it comes to health? I read an article about lung therapy, to strengthen the lung muscles. Do you think it will benefit him? Please check his medicines also. In fact, I think you should revise his complete prescription. Why there are some red marks in this report? How can we….."

"Miss. Mei, what are you doing here? Did I give you permission to leave your room? Instead of asking about red marks of this report, should I show you how many red marks are there on your report?" w.a.n.g s.h.i.+ mercilessly chided her in front of Lu Xion and Zeng s.h.i.+hong.
