Xiu Mei didn't respond to Feng Jianyu but turned around to sit face to face with him and leaned on his strong chest to hear the heartbeat. Why it feels so calm on hearing his heartbeat?

"I saw nothing as I broke the monitor before I could see anything else. Anyways there was no need to see it when I faced it all"

Caressing her cheeks down to her shoulder and arms, he sighed, "Stubborn you are. Right? Ready to suffer this alone but won't share it with someone. No even me"

Xiu Mei hugged his waist and closed her eyes as he gently caressed her smooth skin and hugged her. Feng Jianyu shook his head in disappointment, every time he tried to talk about the topic, he could not bring himself to force against her wish.

 After the bath, he lifted her out of the bathtub. "Stand straight my love" He patted her body dried as she looked at him with overwhelming emotions. Why is he so perfect? Why every time she ends up giving him a hard time? If they are sharing everything with each other, why can't she share her grief?

'Grief shared is half, joy shared is doubled'

Lastly, he picked her up and lifted her to the bed. On the bed table, a food tray with a bowl of cold cuc.u.mber soup with yogurt and dill, fruit parfait with granola and pumpkin m.u.f.fins were kept for her. Before taking her for bath, he had ordered the chef the list of cold dishes to be prepared.

"Don't fall asleep. First eat something" He picked the bowl of soup, settled at the edge of the bed and checked the flavor of the dish before feeding her. She pushed the spoon away after taking in first sip. "You too. No discussions"

Along with a gentle pat on the head, he gave the smallest smile followed by sipping the soup in front of her. Although Xiu Mei was drunk, she could read his glum expression that he was trying to hide from her. How can she not read her husband's face? They are connected through hearts. If one feels pain, it reaches to the other. He is sad because she is sad.

After having their fill, she s.h.i.+fted to the side and patted the s.p.a.ce, "Jianyu…"

By now she was sober enough to understand and talk coherently. Before her mood changes, Xiu Mei decided to talk and snuggled closer. Jianyu lifted her up above him and adjusted her head on his chest before pulling the blanket so that she does not catch cold.

He hugged and coaxed her by stroking her back like how a parent does it when the child feels uncomfortable.

Neither of them spoke for a long time then Feng Jianyu broke the silence. "Sharing grief can also be a means of healing" Feeling surprised she looked up from his chest and he took the opportunity to cup her face in between palms before continuing, "Grief isolate us but if shared with someone it becomes the most powerful emotion to connect two people. You know why?" Feng Jianyu saw her shaking her head in denial and rubbed nose with her, "Because, it will make you realize that you are not alone in this world and someone is there to wipe your tears"

Xiu Mei nodded in reply, "And that someone is you in my life"

"I'm honored if you feel so," He said earnestly.

She lied back on his chest for some time to hear the peaceful music. Feng Jianyu felt her taking deep breaths before she looked up again to see into his comforting eyes.

"I wish I could talk to you about that night" Xiu Mei drew out, "But I myself don't know some answers. I never saw their faces… I could not even register their voice as everything was dizzy and blurred. But I'll try telling you whatever I know"

"You can, but only if you feel comfortable. The second you want to stop or feel any discomfort, promise me you will stop right there"

"Promise me Mei" Feng Jianyu shakes her back when she did not respond but looked at him shocked.

"Did Xion told you something?" Her abrupt question confused him, "What was he supposed to tell me?" He asked.

"Nothing!" Xiu Mei's face eased up and she touched Feng Jianyu's face to place light kisses everywhere to comfort the man who takes too much tension for her.

He felt something is wrong by how Xiu Mei is behaving. And what's with the sudden question? Why did she change the topic? Is there something wrong? Should he stop her before she begins telling him?

He tried to stop her with the thought of clearing out some things with Lu Xion first but she was a step ahead and covered his lips by placing her palm above them to stop him from saying anything.

Xiu Mei's eyes grew misty as she continued, "You know…. That night…. That night after you left me alone in the resort lots of things happened…."

NIGHT SEVEN YEARS BACK

"Hey wait! You forgot to take your diamond." Alice yelled from behind.

"Keep it with you… I will take it when I come back, I trust you..." He shouted without looking back.

Alice looked at the box containing the flawless diamond. There was a feeling in her gut that said, 'No! How can he trust her with this precious diamond?' But another feeling crept in her heart that said, 'Yes! He trusts her to no extent. And having trust is the foundation of every relations.h.i.+p. Is this the beginning of their love story? I must not disappoint him and return it back safely. Ahhh! We are going to work together. Forever and ever...'

With a wide smile, she hugged the box close to her chest and twirled around the veranda outside cottage, 'I'll not only return the diamond but surprise him with my software and that Violin box.
