Country B's military hospital

In the VIP room of the hospital, a woman dressed in yellow was waiting patiently for the man sleeping on the bed to wake up.

He was not under sedation but just sleeping, yet she chose to wait instead of waking him up.

On either side of the woman, two furry dogs were lying with their head rested on her lap only for her to run her hands through their fur as she enjoyed touching their fluffy fur.

Perhaps the man sensed someone's presence, his eyes slit open only to find a beautiful woman sitting in front. Her presence like suns.h.i.+ne, illuminating the boring room of the hospital with a new life.

Gosh, how happy he is to see her, his pain just flew out of the window.

"Xiu Mei…."

She quickly got up from the sofa and helped him to sit. "How are you feeling now, Uncle Ghost?" On seeing him nod she sat down beside him. "I spoke to the doctor before coming here; your second reconstructive surgery went well. Just one more surgery left and you are all set to go for another adventure with me. She saw him chuckle and gave a fake smile that didn't go unnoticed from Ghost's sharp eyes. "You brought all this?" Xiu Mei followed his gaze that landed on the vase decorated with red roses and a huge basket of fruits and dog biscuits.

"Yes… But I have something more" saying she placed a doc.u.ment on his lap.

Reading the very first page Ghost's face was filled with disbelief. She has done a DNA test on him and Kong Da…. When?

In the morning w.a.n.g s.h.i.+ gave her the reports, proving Ghost and Kong Da as brothers. Without wasting any more time she heads straight to the hospital to confront Ghost about everything.

"TH-This…."

He saw her picking up a box from the floor and pa.s.s it to him without a word. For some reason, Ghost started to feel uneasy.

Lu Xion's men found the box in Kong Zhi's house. They were shocked to see Xiu Mei's pictures in it and instantly bring it to their boss's knowledge.

Just when Ghost oped the box the content made him breathe through the mouth, his lips pressed into a thin line. The box contained his most treasured possession that is Alice's pictures that he had shot sneakily over the years while she was in Country B. 

The way pictures had turned yellow with corners rolled inside it tells how frequently they were touched.

The box contains a few more things that would be a waste for others but he valued it more than his life.

"We found this box at your home, Uncle Ghost….. Or should I say General Kong Zhi or how about I call you…." She gulped feeling a lump in her throat. Her voice quivered as she spoke meekly, "Da…d…da… Dadda"

That it! That was the end! This magical word that he was dying to hear was more than enough to break free all the restraints and a tear dropped on Alice's picture.

He noticed her picking a water bottle with a Barbie doll printed on it, "So it was you who took it. Not fair! Who takes away the gift after gifting it? She brushed her finger on a tangerine hairpin, my bangs troubled me a lot without this pin and one day I took the scissors and cut them off"

Seeing her pick more things from the box only to complain, his heart pained more. He knows she was not actually complaining but testing him yet it hurts him.

Suddenly she extended her fist and opened it slowly. "I think this bullet belongs to you too"

Feeling heartbroken she dropped the bullet into the box, "I wonder what's the use of collecting these worthless items when I'm nothing to you? Anyhow you are going to maintain distance from me and return back to anonymity. After all who am I? An adopted daughter! A disposed child!"

"Now let me dispose off it too" He hugged the box closely when he saw Xiu Mei trying to take it back.

She looked at him accusingly like her heart was being broken into two. She sniffled, her eyes welled up yet she adamantly didn't let the tear roll down her cheeks but slide a finger under eyes to toss them out.

Ghost sighed. A crying Alice is the most adorable creature on this planet, no one can resist her dove eyes. "Come" He opened his arms only to see her shaking her head.

"Alice…" She yanked his hand when he tried to touch her face.

"I know you are angry"

 "I'm not. Why would I be?" Her tone felt like a mockery.

He pinched the bridge of his nose before s.h.i.+fting a little to hold her hands that were tightly clasped with each other. "You have every right to be angry at me. Instead of fulfilling my duty as a father I left you alone with that abnoxious man and went away to find proof against him"

"Yes, you did that. Do you have any idea how painful it was? Kong Da is a demon" She raised her head and complained like an aggrieved child. A child, who after being bullied came running to complaint to her father.

She jerked away another tear than another….

"Oh dear! I'm sorry! I'm sorry" He immediately engulfed her in his arms, rubbing her back gently.

This time she didn't push him away but neither hugged him back, her hands dangling at the sides….

"If you were alive why you didn't come back?" Her voice didn't contain a trace of warmth.

He heard her and looked down as she moved away. "Tell me everything. If you won't, then I'm going to Kong Da's house. Now" 

Kong Zhi didn't take her warning lightly. She is definitely brave enough to make her words come true.

On seeing him nod she moved to fluff the pillow and make him sit properly.
