Lying on the bed, Rong Xiang was reading a book when he heard the doorbell. He looked up at the door from his reading gla.s.ses then glanced at the wall clock and saw it was half-past nine. Who could come at this late night?

He was in the process of getting off the bed when he heard the sound of the door unlocking. It must be Bai Xin who came out of her room to check who showed up. But since it was a late hour and Bai Xin lives alone, Rong Xiang didn't let his guards down and slowly unlocked the door of his room and peeped out to make sure there's no one with bad intentions.

However, the moment the door unlocked a man and a woman brought themselves inside, uninvited.

Bai Xin's mouth twitched in annoyance. She wanted to sleep early today but now it seems impossible. "What are you two doing here at this late hour?" She clutched onto her waist, her brows scrunched together as if she was in pain but the two unwanted guests did not pay any heed.

"Sister, come with us to the hospital, the mother might not be able to make it. The doctor said her condition is not optimal and she needs another surgery ASAP" The two hold on to Bai Xin's hand and cried.

The two were Bai Xin's half-siblings. Her father met a Russian woman while he was on a secret mission in Russia. It was a mutual attraction between the two and soon they started living together after a few months of courts.h.i.+p.

Two years later she gave birth to a beautiful girl.

But unknown to Father Bai, his wife was having an affair with his own younger brother and caught the two of them in bed, red-handed which resulted in him divorcing her.

Bai Xin's mother didn't feel ashamed for her wrongdoings and openly accepted her extramarital affair and went to live with her boyfriend, leaving her three-year-old daughter behind.

All this while, Bai Xin's father diligently played the role of father and mother for the little Bai Xin until his untimely death at the hands of European Mafia when she was barely thirteen.

Before his death, her father taught his daughter everything that he knew about shooting and gun handling. He did not want her to become an a.s.sa.s.sin like him but rather pursue a career in sports and aim to get an Olympic medal for the country in the shooting.

The man who was elder spoke, "Sister, how can you say like this? Our mother is ill and there's not even a single line of worry on your forehead. Has your conscience died?"

"Before questioning about my conscience first tell me what did you do with the money I deposited in the hospital's account for YOUR mother's operation. I know you withdrew it later saying you're not getting the surgery done"

The young woman froze and the man's eyes turned bigger. He bribed the hospital staff to not let the money withdrawal news out, especially to his eldest half-sister. They thought of swindling another batch of money by saying that the first surgery failed but it seems Bai Xin knows everything in advance. But how? The plan was full proof, even the doctors and the staff was cooperating with them.

"Get out from here. I already paid the money in full. It's your fault to withdrew it and invest in the stock market in order to make quick money when you didn't even know the ABCD of shares" Bai Xin growled.

"I invested in shares in the hopes of paying you back with interest but unfortunately the shares slummed due to a scam against the company" The brother explained and raised his hand to caress the head of her sister who started sobbing, revealing the expensive watch in the process.

"Y-Yes sister, please help us one last time. She is your mother too after all. Don't be heartless" the girl said in between her cries.
