Even after drinking a few sips of water, Zeng s.h.i.+hong's breathing was erratic. Watching him in this condition Xion got panicked, "Grandpa where is your inhaler?"

He went for pant pockets of Zeng s.h.i.+hong to search for his emergency inhaler. "Dammit! It's not here… Grandpa…. ??"

Zeng s.h.i.+hong was not in a condition to answer any of his questions. Breathing heavily he clutched his chest as he pointed out with his finger towards the side table of bed. Xion noticed the direction of his finger and ran towards it to get the inhaler.

With trembling hands, he pulled the first drawer, in his anxiousness Xion used so much force that the drawer comes out causing its contents to fall down on the floor. With his sharp eyes, he saw the inhaler and ran back to his grandpa to give him medicine. Holding the inhaler he shook it a few times before bringing it to Zeng s.h.i.+hong's mouth to let him have it.

With his left hand, Xion supported his grandpas' back while with his right hand he sprayed the medicine three times in Zeng s.h.i.+hong's mouth.

Due to lack of oxygen Zeng s.h.i.+hong's face has turned red, tears of the struggle for breath rolled down his cheeks, he was almost on the verge of collapsing when Xion sprayed the medicine in his mouth. "Inhale grandpa… inhale…. Right! Like this… Slowly…. It's Ok, calm down..."

Right after the first spray of medicine, Zeng s.h.i.+hong took a deep breath, to fill his lungs with oxygen for which he was struggling just a moment ago.

After taking medicine he was still panting, but his struggle for breath stopped. He looked at Xion with drooping eyes, as he pushed the inhaler away from his mouth.

"No more?"

Zeng s.h.i.+hong shook his head lightly, while still concentrating on his breath.

Xion looked at his grandpa worriedly but noticed that his face is no more as red as before. Taking a sigh of relief he wiped the beads of sweat with his sleeves as he sat down beside grandpa on to the couch.

"I'll call the doctor to examine you", he takes out his phone from his pocket, but before he could dial Zeng s.h.i.+hong stopped him, "No… No need to call the doctor, I'm fine."

"But grandpa…"

"Xion… I said I'm fine…. Don't go against my wish…" Zeng s.h.i.+hong looked straight into his eyes, "Not today, not anytime in the future…" He paused for a minute before saying further with a hoa.r.s.e voice, "You are wise enough to understand what I'm talking about"

Xion pinched his glabella as he felt exhausted. After a minute of silence, he looked at Zeng s.h.i.+hong to voice out his thoughts, "Of course I know what you are trying to say… But don't you think she has the right to know that you are her grandfather"

Zeng s.h.i.+hong asked back firmly, "Right! She has the right to know that I'm her grandfather, but what next? What will you tell her when she will ask about her parents? Do you know where they are? Do you know who her father is? Do you think she will forgive me after knowing how terrible father I was… " As he asked these questions he did not remove his piercing gaze from Xion's face for even a minute.

Xion felt himself tongue-tied at Zeng s.h.i.+hong's question, obviously, there are inevitable consequences if they dare to tell the truth to Xiu Mei. Unable to provide any proper explanation to his grandpa, he averted his eyes.

Grandpa scoffed, "No Xion… She will never forgive me after knowing how I treated her mother … Throughout her life, my daughter craved for my love, but I was such a dumb a.s.s that instead of reciprocating to my daughter's love, I never even bothered to take a second look at her face…. As he heard about the night 7 years back, Xion's eyes turned vicious, his whole aura changed into that of a deathly devil, "Don't worry grandpa…. Whoever dared to put our Little Mei in that condition, I'll myself give him a life that death will look more peaceful to him… ".
