When Xin Mei was a child, Xin Jin was very concerned about her safety. He was afraid that other boys or girls would bully her. So, he had personally sent her to the best self-safety cla.s.ses in the city.

That was why Xin Mei was a black belt in karate and her kicking and boxing skills were also very strong. She knew how to protect herself.

So, when handkerchief was placed over her nose, she held her breath to not inhale the chloroform. She was an expert swimmer, so it was not a big deal for her to hold her breath for a slightly longer time. 

She took deep gulps of breath when the handkerchief was removed from her nose. Her heart was beating fast out of fear. Her eyes were wide opened and she was trying to adjust them to the darkness enveloping around them.

She was also feeling slightly dizzy because of the little amount of chloroform which she had accidentally inhaled.

 "Finally, I will have you for myself." She heard a hoa.r.s.e voice and again her heartbeat picked up with fear.

The man in the darkness ran his finger on her cheeks, Xin Mei took his finger in her hand and twisted it badly. The man yelled in pain.

Xin Mei took this chance and stood up from her seat, with unsteady legs, she stepped away from him.

"How dare of you to enter my room? Do you think you can kidnap me? I am not this weak!" She yelled and kept stepping away. Her heart was beating hard out of fear. Her eyes were also blinded with haziness.

"Very smart of you Xin Mei," the man chuckled. "So, you were able to avoid the effect of chloroform, my bad. But do not worry, soon I will take you away, all to myself. For now, I will satisfy myself with a kiss."

The man's sight had already adjusted to the darkness. He walked towards her and cornered her towards the wall. Xin Mei tried to kick him but he easily blocked her attack.

"Did I tell you, I am a martial art expert? Your silly attacks will not have any effect on me."

Heart of Xin Mei skipped a beat and her breath hitched. Sweat formed on her forehead and she started to feel slightly hot.

"Now let me kiss you." The man held on her cheeks with his hand, squeezing them.

Xin Mei took a deep breath and smiled slightly, "did I tell you, I am also a karate expert?"

And with that, she kneed his private part. She pushed him back. She bounced on her legs and kicked him hard on his stomach, using both of her legs. She gave him a U-turn kick before slapping him hard across his face.

She started to breathe hard and looked at the silhouette of that man. She could feel dizziness overtaking her.

"You. I will not...leave to you." She breathed hard and was about to again hit that man but he already took his chance and ran out of the room with fear. He was afraid of getting his ident.i.ty disclosed. He knew lights could be back anytime from now.

Once, he was gone, Xin Mei leaned against the wall. She started to fan herself and took deep breathes. Her breathing became shallow and dots appeared in front of her eyes. She could feel the effect of chloroform taking over her senses.

At the same moment, the lights came back. Xin Mei sighed and rushed towards the water bottle. She emptied it all over her face and sighed.

After that, she reached her mobile and called the number of Su Yuchen.

"Chen," she spoke in a broken and heavy voice. The fear which she was feeling came rus.h.i.+ng to her.

"Mei, what happened? Why are you sounding like this?" he asked with concern.

"Can you come…here?" Her voice became heavy and it looked as if she would cry at any second.

She may have shown bravery and intelligence when an unknown man was in her room. She may have beaten him up. But that did not mean she was not nervous or scared.

She was scared. What if that man had done something to her? What if chloroform had shown its full effect on her? And on top of that, what if she had not taken any self-defence cla.s.ses?

Xin Mei closed her eyes and kept leaning against the wall. 

"Xin Mei, what happened?" Fang Lin returned to her room and looked at Xin Mei with surprise and worry filled eyes. "Why are you lying here like this and why are you all wet? Did something happen?"

"Fang Lin, I am not feeling good. Can you please inform the director that I am going home?" Xin Mei asked, her voice was throaty and hoa.r.s.e. 

"Yes, I will. Is someone coming here to receive you?"

"Yup, my brother is coming." She took a deep breath and opened her eyes. She blinked her eyes multiple times.

'I am here.'

She sighed when she received the message from Su Yuchen. She unsteadily stood up and was immediately held by Fang Lin. Fang Lin supported her and took her towards the parking where she found w.a.n.g Wei.

Fang Lin knew w.a.n.g Wei so she did not think twice before leaving Xin Mei with him.

"Missus, are you feeling alright?" w.a.n.g Wei asked with concern.

"Where is he?"

Without saying anything, w.a.n.g Wei helped her towards the car. The moment he opened the door, Xin Mei entered the car and threw herself in the arms of Su Yuchen.

Her body started to shock involuntarily. Su Yuchen stopped breathing when he saw her poor condition.

"What happened, love? Has someone troubled you again? Has that Zhou Mingyu or Qian Fan troubled you?" he asked with concern only to receive a negative nod from Xin Mei.

Xin Mei placed her nose in the hollow of his neck and started to inhale his familiar fragrance. His scent was enough to calm down her anxiety. Now, she was in the arms of her saviour.

"What happened?" Su Yuchen again asked with gentleness. He lovingly ran his fingers in her hair.

"Chen, in my room..." and with that, Xin Mei told everything to Su Yuchen.

A fire burnt in his eyes and he clutched his fist hard when he heard Xin Mei. He scolded himself for this condition of Xin Mei. He was responsible for all this. He was the one who failed to find that stalker even after having the best team of investigators.

"Huang Chu, call all the guards of Xin Mei and all of our private investigators at home right now." He ordered with fury in his voice. 

This time he would ensure that the man would be caught and then Su Yuchen would not leave him.
