Jack knew that this was a lie. However, he was banking on the fact that Lily was a very private person. He believed that Lily did not tell Cathy any information about the matter at all.

"You think… Lily is that shallow?" Cathy almost laughed. How could she not understand Jack's motive in coming here?

"No- No… of course not. But that cheating incident must have hurt her. Both of us knew that Lily is a very prideful person. How could she allow her fiance to embarra.s.s her like that?"

Cathy stared at Jack for a few seconds. "I don't think Lily would lower herself to your brother's level. She is a very calculating person. Someone that would treat everything as an investment. If…"
