“I told your parents that, sooner or later, I’ll be their son-in-law, and I should try to fit in with your family as soon as possible. Also, since you are always busy with your work, I should spend more time with them instead,” Mo Liuxi said. “And I want to learn how to take care of Yan Yan so that you can live like a queen once we’re married. I’ll take full responsibility for Yan Yan. Your parents were glad to hear that.”

Yan Su fell silent.

She was at a loss for words.

To be honest, Yan Su thought that Mo Liuxi would have a hard time fitting in with her family because of his cold and distant att.i.tude. Who knew that, after only one day, he was practically their son?

“Just by yourself… are you sure about this?” Yan Su was worried about him.

Mo Liuxi chuckled and said, “I’ll make your parents see me as their own.”

Yan Su could not doubt Mo Liuxi anymore since he had given her his words.

As if time had stopped, they were completely lost in each other’s presence.

It was almost midnight. Fireworks exploded in the sky above the small town.

Jiang Peiying and Yan Lv would’ve usually been asleep at that hour. However, because of Mo Liuxi and Yan Su, they decided not to go to bed so early.

“Dad, do you know where Xixi is? I want to fire off some fireworks with him,” said Yan Jin, as she ran toward Yan Lv with all kinds of fireworks in her arms.

Yan Lv looked around puzzled, and said, “He was just here.”

“Maybe he went to the bathroom,” said Yan Su. She did not pay much attention to Mo Liuxi before that as she was taking care of Yan Yan. “Hang on a second, Jin. I’ll get him to go with you.”

Just as Yan Jin was about to nod in acknowledgment, a huge bang came from the garden.

“How could he set off the fireworks in the garden without me!” Yan Jin rushed out first, but she was astounded by what she saw.

Although fireworks were being set off all over town to celebrate the New Year, the sky above the Yan family’s house was especially bright with all sorts of fireworks. It was as bright as daylight and as colorful as a rainbow. s.h.i.+ning autumn Chrysanthemums were blooming in the sky, with fiery roses twinkling among them.

Red, yellow, green, pink, and more.

Every burst added a splash of color into the world above.

Yan Su, Jiang Peiying, and Yan Lv walked out of the house as well. They were all amazed by the scene.

“Look, Sis!” Yan Jin shouted out of the blue. Their gaze fell from the sky and onto the garden below.

It had been snowing for two days; the garden was covered in white snow. At that very moment, red s.h.i.+mmering candles decorated the snow in the shape of a heart. Mo Liuxi had some sparklers lighted in his left hand and a bouquet of red roses in his right. He stood in the middle of the candle arrangement as if he were a snow fairy. He looked into Yan Su’s eyes; his eyes sparkling like the fireworks above them. It happened all so fast and surprised everyone.

Yan Su was stunned, much less the entire Yan family.

Only Yan Yan, who was in the arms of her mother, was shouting with excitement when she saw the sparklers in Mo Liuxi’s hand. No one understood what she was trying to say.

Mo Liuxi looked at Yan Yan’s smiling face, and his heart melted.

He went through so much when he was a little boy, he never imagined that day would come so soon.

It was as if his life was complete.

“Uncle, Aunty, I would like to propose to Susu with you here.”

The sparklers went out. Mo Liuxi slowly walked to Yan Su with the bouquet in his hands. He took out a ring, kneeled on one knee on the snowy ground, and said, “I know this all happened too fast, and your parents have not accepted me completely.
