“What?” Luosang had gooseb.u.mps all over as she listened to him. She had been busy going about her own perfectly normal day. “How is your grandma?”
“She’s alright. She just sprained her foot. But…” Nian Junting paused before continuing, “Leng Shuangwei was in the bathroom, too, and she was stabbed in the abdomen. She’s in the ICU now.”
Luosang’s heart dropped. “Is she in danger now?”
“Her condition has stabilized. I asked Nian Xi to go over later when the police come looking for you,” he explained. “I have to stay here. My grandma is still here, and Leng Shuangwei is hurt from protecting my family.”
“I understand.” Luosang’s mind was a mess now. She felt uneasy, and she had so many questions on her mind that she didn’t know where to start. She finally spoke after a long while. “Junting, why did this happen? Did she really go after your family because of me?”
“Don’t let your imagination run wild. The police said that she was on drugs. She had all sorts of wounds on her, too. She had probably been abused by Miao Zheng. Her heart is already twisted. Don’t worry, we will find out the truth,” Nian Junting comforted her. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Ok.” She put down her phone, and her mind eased a little. Zhong Yi’s deed would probably make the Nian family detest her further. The entire family would also be grateful to Leng Shuangwei for coming to Grandma Nian’s aid. They would be touched by her heroic act, and Nian Junting would be touched, too.
