These magical gems have the power to materialize in a specific weapon that can be used to fight Eidolons. Eidolons are not affected by any normal weapon, not even a nuclear bomb. Only Weapon Gems can be used to fight them.

A strong example of this weapon is my katana, which was the standard weapon of the shrine maidens. I had the Weapon Gem installed on my watch so that I can deploy it anytime an Eidolon attacks me.

Tiara gave it to me since she's not comfortable using a sword. She's better off barehanded.

Let's go to the battle!

Tiara kicked the ground as she dashed forward to the enemy skeleton. The enemy then responded by magically launching fireb.a.l.l.s from its bony hands!

Through my ability , I can see the events that will happen twelve seconds in advance! I memorized the pattern where the giant skeleton will fire his projectiles!

"Right, right, left, right!" I commanded Tiara. Tiara obediently jumped to the right, then right, a single dash to the left, and then right. There, she found a clean opportunity to attack!

"Haaaa!" Tiara made a right hook! There was an impact that broke the collarbone of the skeleton! The Eidolon only made a step back, even if it was a direct attack.

Tiara was about to connect her other punch but then I ordered Tiara to retreat. I saw in my vision that the Eidolon will have a quick counterattack if Tiara continued her combo punches.

I raised my hand, and I gathered light energy from around me. After a whole second, the light materialized a chilling disk in a shape of a snowflake! It was as big as a regular plate, but it's full of prana!

"!!!" I threw the icy disk, targeting the enemy's feet, and bull's eye! Upon contact, the skeleton's right feet was now a frozen solid! Now it cannot move freely!

Meanwhile, Tiara was charging a ball of blue flame from her two hands. She was holding it in her chest level as she channels for more energy!

"!!!" Tiara's...o...b..of blue flame released a beam of sapphire photons that went straight to the skeleton's head! The Eidolon was unable to endure the attack, so it crashed to the ground.

Tiara and I dashed forward to seize the opportunity! It's finally down, so we can land a true deadly hit! Tiara was able to move close first, but before she can deliver a deadly smash, the skeleton stood up and prepared a gigantic sweep with its right arm!

Unfortunately for our enemy, I already foresaw the attack thanks to . I ran with all my might and stabbed the thin air.

A horizontal tornado was formed, and drilled through the giant skeleton's stomach! My spell left a huge hole on its wizard's robe, as well as a critical damage to the Eidolon's spine!

Tiara then jumped ten meters above, and readied her final attack!

"!!!" Her right arm was filled with a brown aura that was shaped into a giant dragon's arm! She used the tremendous energy she gathered to smash the skeleton's head directly!

Bam! A huge crater was formed due to the power of Tiara's finis.h.i.+ng blow! There was a sonic boom that made the dust particles fly all over the mansion.

Seeing that made me promise myself not to get hit by Tiara's punches again.

When the surroundings finally calmed down, we saw Tiara standing at the center of the crater, and the Eidolon remains vaporized into ashes.

Tiara was holding a green orb of light. No, not holding. The orb of light freely floats on her palms.

That orb of light is called a Quintessence, which is the core of the Eidolon. Quintessences appear once the Eidolon is defeated, and these cute orbs of light can be spent in order for a Gate Guardian to use his or her Guardian Ability or even spells in the Earth Realm.

The Quintessence immediately rushed to Tiara's heart, which she absorbed like a sponge. These Quintessences are stored in a Gate Guardian's heart, but it can be transferred to another Gate Guardian through physical contact.

Jeannette was busy writing on her notes, while Asumi was giving a thumbs up to Tiara. Tiara responded with an innocent smile.

I saw something weird about that shrine maiden friend of mine so I rushed to her side and grabbed both of her hands. As I thought, her knuckle is already swollen, probably because of her heavy punches to that Eidolon. She even made a cute "Kya!" cry when I touched those injured fists.

I used the spell I learned from her, the . This spell can cure minor injuries such as bruises and shallow cuts. This also gives a refres.h.i.+ng sensation to the patient.

She has used this spell multiple times to heal my bleeding nose (That was always her fault, by the way).

"R-Rikkun… Thank you…" She smiled with a blush.

And our exhibition battle was finally over. The two spectators went to our side.

"Don't worry, Tiara." Asumi held her hips and proudly straighten her back. "Now that you've grown stronger, Sister Asumi will buy a Gauntlet-Type Weapon Gem for you~"

"R-Really?" Tiara's eyes sparkled like stars. "Arigatou, oneee-chan!"

"Aside from that… " Jeannette b.u.t.ted in. "I will include you in my special team. Your abilities as a striker Gate Guardian will help me in many ways... You too, Ric."

"Wait, what?" I tilted my head.

"That special training is not for free, you idiot!" Jeannette sermoned me like a mother. "I made a special contract with the Kozukata Shrine Maidens just to let you in! I had you trained so that you can aid me in my upcoming missions."

"I didn't sign for this!" I protested. There's no way I'm gonna be with her group doing free community services!

"Completing missions have a high compensation, like those of a doctor's."

"Okay, I signed for this."

"Nette Senpai, what're the special missions you're talking about?" Tiara had her face full of a question mark.

"The details are still unknown, but…" Jeannette held her chin. "Black Cross Legion will summon me one of these days for more clarification. All they said is that I should form a small team."

Black Cross Legion is the central organization of the Gate Guardians all around the world. I heard that they are supported by governments of different countries, but it is in the domain of the Catholic Church. That organization is responsible for aiding and a.s.signing Gate Guardians to different cities. They also compensate the hard working Gate Guardians who have completed their mission.

"Anyway, good work for this day~" Jeannette gave a cute smile to us as she clapped her hands.

That night was so exhausting. I immediately went to my room in that shrine and jumped on my bed. Five seconds later, I fell into a deep sleep.

The next time I opened my eyes, I was in the middle of a blizzard. I was standing on top of a cliff made of ice. It looks a lot like I'm climbing in Mount Everest except that I'm on my school uniform and I don't feel cold at all.

I looked above to check if I was still in Earth Realm or I was transported to Yami. But I couldn't decide on that since it's not dark, and I can't see the blood moon because of the blizzard.

I turned around and saw a white-haired teenager wearing a black jacket and a red scarf. His eyes are glowing red, and instead of a golden cross sigil like us Gate Guardians, he has a black triangle on his sclera.
