"You what?"

"I hate it when you talk to her! At first, I was okay since you said you had a girlfriend. I thought maybe in time he would forget her and we can get together. I was fine with waiting but then you go and start talking to that Elizabeth. I remember who she was! Tell me! Am I not good enough for you!? Is that why you went to her instead of me!?" Jaime stopped being defensive and started to corner Linri to a wall. With each word, she was pus.h.i.+ng him back with a single finger.

"What then? Just because I don't want to date you I can't date others is that it?"

"Yes!"

"Wow, I never knew you were such a person. Just so you know there was nothing between us. She was the one who came to me! But at this point, I guess I should be the one going to her. It is clear to me that nothing can ever happen between us. Good day," Linri said in a calm tone. He knew that when someone was angry at you the best thing you can do is act calm. That makes them even angrier.

Honestly, this event made one thing clear to Linri. Even if he liked Jaime, he should never ever date her. Because it would only be a toxic relations.h.i.+p. She would be jealous of women around him and he would break her heart with his words. Both sides would come out with big scars.

The best thing he can do now is just put distance between them and at best act like friends. Well, they were friends. He still liked hanging out with her but they can never be anything more than that.

---

Linri was sitting in the auditorium with his cla.s.smates. Today they were going to make an announce-

"Psst!"

"What?"

"I heard you and big sis had a fight. What's that about? Weren't you trying to patch things up?"

"I don't know, she said something about hating it when I hang out with other girl and that I can only ever be with her. I hated how that sounded like so I lashed out. What about you? Is your brother still bothering you?" Linri asked trying to change the subject.

"Nope! He even changes his way whenever we come across each other"

"Is that a good thing? I mean don't you want to speak with him again?"

"What would you do if you were in my shoes?"

"I would just straight-up murder him. Honestly, I am surprised that you even let him go to this school. You know that with one word I can get rid of him right?"

"And why would you? Aren't you the bad guy?" Linri could not help but smile a little.

"Smart girl! Of course, if I did that you would be my eternal servant"

"Hmph! There is no way I would agree to that" Brie sounded displeased but she seemed happy to be praised.

*Rat-tat-tat-tat*

"Okay everyone can I have your attention please?" said Richard after ticking on the microphone.

All the students in the auditorium fell silent.

"Today, as some of you might know, we have two big announcements. First of all, we are going to make a statement about the recent terrorist attack on the school grounds and secondly we are going to announce the Student Council President picked from your votes. He or she will come to the stage and make a speech. That will be all for today. So let's welcome Mr Hawke to make the statement" said Richard and started to clap. The students followed after him and started to clap as well.

For a guy who claimed to be bad at political stuff, Richard was actually pretty good when it came to that. Well, I guess that was a given when you were an immortal being. Even if you were dumb or hated it, you would unintentionally learn it due to pa.s.sage of time and seeing it constantly... or time to time... or just reading about it because you were bored. Anyway, you get the point!

Mr Hawke walked into the stage and started to give his speech.

"As you might know our school has suffered a terrible tragedy but the school board of Autumnfall Highschool confirms that no such events will ever happen. In this school we are raising the future leaders of the world, we are raising the strongest warriors. So in order to a.s.sure their safety, of course, we have the strongest defenders. That's how we were able to uncover the ident.i.ty of the terrorist attacking our inst.i.tute. He was a member of the terrorist organisation known as Renegades and his code name was One. Unfortunately, we have to inform you that their attacks won't just stop at one and they will keep on coming. Not just to our school but also to your homes and families. The Renegades are planning to take over the world and they are h.e.l.l-bent on killing anyone standing on their way including you and your families..."

Hawke kept on speaking but Linri was not paying attention to him anymore. Something was wrong. This was not how the original events were supposed to go. They were supposed to explain Zero's origins and warn students to be righteous and good or otherwise Zero would return to kill them. This time they put all the blame on Renegades and even changed Zero's name. Linri was feeling uncomfortable because there was a scheme going on and he wasn't aware of it. Now the most important question was why? Why would they change their decision and put the blame on the Renegades?

He needed to figure this out. Hmm, maybe he could go to Richard again? No. That wouldn't work. Most of the time he wouldn't care about this stuff and the only reason he was a princ.i.p.al here was that he liked teaching other people. He also was killing time in the meantime. Then who would be the best person to ask? Zave? Nope, he was too strict and wouldn't let a student know about their decisions. Snow? Maybe she could be helpful but Linri still didn't trust her especially considering she was about to nuke the school. Valerie? Same reason as Richie she was only interested in human psychology there was no way she would care about that stuff. Hawke was the only choice left but he was also strict like Zave. Wait there was one more person! Hina... No, she wouldn't work either. Ugh, can't this school have more competent teachers that he could con?

Oh yeah, his father was also going to work here in the future wasn't he? He might be a nice source of information. Still, he needed to wait until after his awakening. Ugh, such a drag!

"Okay now as for the results of the vote. The winner is... drumroll please... Elvario from cla.s.s 3-1! Let's welcome him to the stage!" said Richard acting like a game show host. Yep, he was bored with acting so uptight.

Elvario looked surprised at first but walked to the stage. Linri inspected him silently. That was the character of his mentor. He had raven black hair and blue eyes. His skin was unnaturally pale and he looked so thin. Almost as if a single gust of wind can knock him down. Even the clothes he wore looked so big compared to him.

This was Elvario, the person who thought of his immortality as a curse. You see he was actually a sacrifice to create the Philosopher's Stone. That was why he looked so sickly, he was actually a slave. But just like any other superhero origin, something went wrong and the newly created Philosopher's Stone lodged itself into his body and made him immortal. There was one drawback though. The kind of immortality you get from PS was like a photocopy meaning you always stayed the same. Let's say you worked out and got some muscles. Wrong! PS doesn't let you have that. Let's say you eat healthily and gained weight. Bzzt! PS dictates that you shall stay thin and sickly. He couldn't even grow a beard or cut his hair. It would just grow back instantly.

So Elvario's body was in a constant state. It would always stay like this till the day PS runs out of juice which was impossible. So he could never get stronger. The way Elvario got around that was he always studied. If he can't get stronger he was just going to learn whatever he could and he did that. Don't get me wrong Elvario was no genius but he was like a walking encyclopedia. He might not find an answer to a puzzle question but it wouldn't take him a second to solve an equation.

"First of all, let me thank you for choosing me as your president. When I joined the elections I honestly did not think I would be the eventual winner. Truth be told I am both honoured and scared by the position. Just look at me. What part of me looks like a leader? But I will still try to do what I can and do my best to not let anyone of you down. I will do everything I can to ensure your safety. Actually, now that we are on the subject I might have discovered something about the ident.i.ty of the attacker..."

Linri got ready. He was not sure if everything was going to go the same way as the club but even if it didn't, today he had to stand on the opposite side of Elvario.
