Legacy Of Forgotten Times 188 Kasumi

Jaime felt a burning sensation on her shoulder and ran back. There was a giant burn in there and it hurt like h.e.l.l. She started to perspire. Sigh, someone who was clad in flames was really a bad matchup for her. Just now, instead of hurting Leon, she was the one hurt by the flames protecting him. Every boss was designed so that there is a way to beat them.

[Fire Lord] Leon was the initial boss. He was supposed to thin the herd which were the students. That was why he was clad in flames and also had a bunch of AoE attacks: if you wanted to defeat him you had to be using ranged attacks.

White fireb.a.l.l.s appeared behind Leon as he had a confident smirk on his face. Jaime was about to be hit when the ground below her give in and she fell to the first floor.

"Everyone run while I hold him off!" the voice belonged to Keiji Makoto, the geology teacher. He was an Earth Mage, so he had opened a hole under the students so that they can escape. Granted, it was really a painful way, but it was still efficient.

After falling down the students started to run out of the school. There was nothing she could do... Wait! Maybe there was one thing.

Jaime looked around to see a blue-haired girl standing up from the debris. She had a short bob and was wearing gla.s.ses. Everything about her shouted that she was a meek person. This person was Kasumi Mizuho, second student character of Kou... but, most importantly, she was a water mage. 

Ugh, thinking about it, Kou had three elemental characters: Keiji with earth, Kou with wind and Kasumi with water. Anyway, she could not remember her whole power set, but she remembered Kou saying she was a support-type character.

Skills:

Water Walking/Surfing: Kasumi can walk, run, or simply stand on the surface of any water, including water she is controlling at a very small prana cost to maintain. This allows for a higher amount of mobility because Kasumi can stand on the water she is controlling and increase its speed with her secondary ability.

Aquatic Breath: Kasumi can breathe underwater as long as necessary due to her elemental affinity. This is effortless for Kasumi, meaning she can even breathe underwater while unconscious or out of prana.

Enhanced Swimming: Kasumi's control of water allows her to move in water rather quickly, being able to move at two stages higher Speed than the amount of speed she has. This means that she would normally be able to swim at [2x Exceptional Speed], but could go faster if her Speed was enhanced by allies. Due to her control of water, she does not have to perform swimming motions to gain this increased speed.

Phase Alteration: Kasumi can change ice and mist into liquid water, which allows her to use ice and mist as additional water sources. Mist is already liquid, but it is condensed from many small water droplets and pulled together. She can also do the reverse and turn liquid water into ice or mist. In the case of mist, the water being controlled would spread out into mist. Turning water into ice is not very easy since the freezing process must begin near Kasumi and move towards wherever she is directing it to. The water turned into ice melts quickly and can only stay frozen for one minute. Recently melted ice cannot be frozen again for another turn. However, Kasumi cannot control ice itself, only being able to turn it into liquid water. Overall, it is easier for Kasumi to melt ice than to freeze water.

Mist: Kasumi can control mist as well as more condensed water, although to a lesser degree. One effective way for Kasumi to use mist in a helpful way is to spread out a cloud of mist near allies to heal them using her evolved secondary power.

Hydro Blasts: Kasumi can send out jets of water that knockback and damage targets. .h.i.t. Kasumi can attack with a short burst or a continual stream and the power can vary depending on how much prana Kasumi uses. Kasumi can also use small water jets that can pierce and do not knock enemies back much. However, the overall power of Kasumi's water has increased and it is less costly for her to perform more powerful attacks.

Bubble s.h.i.+eld: Kasumi can create water and form it into a sphere around her, resulting in a defensive barrier of water that can stop or slow down attacks. .h.i.tting it. Depending on how much water Kasumi uses in it, its defensive power can vary. When projectiles. .h.i.t it, the sphere can react and increase the density of water in that area. Using the water in the sphere, Kasumi can extend water from it to use at range for attacking or other purposes. However, it is also possible for Kasumi to cause the sphere of water to spin, allowing for projectile deflection instead of only blocking. The bubble s.h.i.+eld can react to piercing attacks and use this spinning to deflect those kinds of attacks. While inside this Bubble s.h.i.+eld, Kasumi can still move, using Surfing to go faster if necessary. She can float above the ground inside the water sphere, allowing her to move effectively while inside it. Due to her water manipulation, it is possible for Kasumi to move the water sphere separately from herself, allowing it to be an origin point for attacks or defence for others. Overall, it is a relatively effective, but not impenetrable defence that costs varying amounts of prana to maintain depending on how much water is used and how much effort Kasumi puts into making it more effective.

Cutting Water: By controlling the shape and density of water, Kasumi can use it to perform cutting attacks. Some ways of doing this include cutting projectiles and blades of water created from Kasumi's arms using water body transformation.

Secondary Ability: [Magical Water]

Skills: 

Healing Water: Kasumi can heal wounds on either herself or allies by applying healing water to them. This also applies to mist and the effectiveness of Kasumi's healing has improved significantly due to the power evolving. When healing allies or herself, Kasumi can either focus entirely on restoring health, or she can use her enhancement of water to give the person being healed increased Strength or Speed by one stage.

Powerful Water: Kasumi can enhance water by improving its power. The maximum amount of increased strength in water is three stages higher Strength than normal. It is also possible to not use the maximum strength enhancement in order to make the water faster as well. For example, she could enhance water to have two stages higher Strength and one stage higher Speed.

Fast Water: Kasumi can enhance the speed of water she controls. The maximum amount of increased speed is three stages faster than normal. It is also possible to not use the maximum speed enhancement in order to make the water stronger as well. For example, she could enhance water to have two stages higher Speed and one stage higher Strength.

Extra Ability: [Water Body Transformation]

Skills: 

Kasumi has the ability to transform each and every part of her body into water. When she is transformed, she can still cast her magic like normal. This process does not consume any prana.

Ex-Burst: [Rain Dance]

Prequiseties;

1- Kasumi must focus for 15 seconds without any interruptions

2- While focusing, she is unable to enhance water

3- While focusing, she is unable to transform into water and has to be in her human form

4- In case she chose to use Healing Rain, Kasumi has to mark her enemies with water droplets before casting her Rain Dance. The ability itself doesn't differentiate between allies and enemies

Skills: Kasumi calls down the rain and gives one of the three properties listed down below. After choosing which one the rain continues to fall for 10 minutes or until Kasumi decides to cancel it.

Powerful Rain

Rain with enhanced power hits with high Strength, although the actual Strength of individual attacks varies based on how much rain is concentrated in one attack. A large rain blast with strength enhancement can hit with Superior Strength at most. Overall, this version of the Ex-Burst can do more damage than the Speed enhancement rain, although the attacks are easier to evade compared to speed enhanced rain.

Fast Rain

Rain with enhanced Speed flies through the air very quickly, making evasion difficult. A large rain blast with Speed enhancement can reach Superior Speed at most. Although this version of the Ex-Burst does not have as much overall damage, it is more likely to hit and is useful against fast and agile opponents. The high velocity increases its force, but it still does significantly less damage than Powerful Rain.

Healing Rain

Healing rain is very different from the other two versions since it is not meant for attacking. Rain falls from the sky, healing anyone it touches very effectively and curing status effects. Healing rain also enhances the Strength and Speed of anyone healed by one stage each.

...Was Kou serious? Did she seriously say that, from her perspective, Kasumi was just a support character? Excuse me? She had enough potential to go mano a mano against Leon and you have the audacity to tell me she was just a support character?!

Despite how jealous she was inside, Jaime did not let it be apparent on her expression. She dashed next to Kasumi and helped her get up.

"Are you okay?" she asked with a concerned voice.

"Yes, thank you, Jaime," said Kasumi.

*BOOOOOM*

Jaime heard a giant explosion above them. She hoped that Mr. Keiji was still fine.

"Let's go to the shelter, we can't spend any more time in here," said Kasumi as she tried to drag Jaime away with her.

"No, I want to stay and fight!" said Jaime.

"But why?"

"That..."

Honestly, even Jaime herself did not know the reason why she wanted to fight so much. She was just frustrated with her being unable to do anything. It was always Linri in the spotlight. It was always him doing the dangerous things so, for once, she wanted to be the one fighting. And, unlike him, she was stuck. In a small corner of her heart, she was thinking. Maybe, it would be better for her to stay weak. Maybe others would find the way home and she could just follow after them. Maybe she could just stay as Jaime. She was smart and she was beautiful.

Did she really want to go back? Yes, she would not be able to see her brother and parents anymore, but the Jaime she created wouldn't treat them badly. She might even be happy to have parents again. This wasn't a question she was ready to answer as of yet and the only way to keep herself from thinking such thoughts was fighting. Whenever she fought against someone, she would feel calm. Every useless thought would disappear. 

Yes, she did not know why she wanted to fight Leon, but what better way was there to find out than fighting itself?

"I don't know why I want to fight, but even so... even so, would you please stay and help me?" Jaime asked Kasumi sincerely.
