Shangguan Ning took the handkerchief and observed it carefully. She noticed that on this seemingly ordinary white handkerchief, there was concealed stripe, unique to Family Jing. On one corner of the handkerchief there was a series of seemingly insignificant numbers.

When Jing Yichen noticed that she looked slightly puzzled, wondering what the numbers meant, he explained patiently, “Each of the handkerchiefs used by every male member of Family Jing differs from the other. This series of numbers is unique to me and represents the fact that I am the eldest son of Family Jing and the first heir of Family Jing, in this generation. I have never given this handkerchief to anyone else but you, nor did I ever use it to clean Tang Yun’s face. This is part of the Jing ident.i.ty. Even Jing Yiran, who has had numerous affairs, has never given his handkerchief to anybody else before.”

Jing Yichen thought of how strained things were, between him and Jing Yiran, at the moment.

He was aware that the two brothers had never really gotten along very well, anyway, What upset him further was that this discord was something that should’ve stayed between both of them, and Shangguan Ning should not have been involved. She was innocent and had no business being dragged into this bad blood between the two brothers. But this was Jing Yiran. He never worked in accordance to principles. He didn’t care if Shangguan Ning was innocent or not.

Therefore, Jing Yichen also adopted a smarter technique this time. Only he knew that Jing Yiran was due to receive a huge “surprise!” tonight!

Shangguan Ning felt the handkerchief. It was made out of the finest materials. She didn’t notice that Jing Yichen was still fuming over Jing Yiran’s doings.

She suddenly remembered that when she first met Jing Yichen for a game of tennis, Jing Yichen had kindly given her his handkerchief to wipe her face. She didn’t return it to him because she thought it would be gross to give him a napkin that had been stained by her sweat. She had thought she would wash it before returning it to him, so she stuffed it into her own purse!

It was only now that she learnt how important the handkerchief was, to Yichen.

She took his handkerchief without having known all of this. After they got married, she discovered that he had a wardrobe of white handkerchiefs, so she didn’t think that the one that she had kept with her, was of any significance.

“So, you gave me the handkerchief so casually before, but you already had your eyes on me, right?”

Leaning in, in his arms, Shangguan Ning fiddled with the wine-stained handkerchief and asked Yichen, with mischief in her eyes.

Jing Yichen pulled her cheeks with love. “I didn’t know what I was thinking back then. I just felt that being with you made me feel comfortable. It just felt right. I’m not the kind of person who uses someone else’s things, nor do I approve of someone else using my personal belongings – but when I met you, all of this didn’t matter. It just felt different. Like we belonged together.”

Shangguan Ning didn’t have an inkling about Jing Yichen’s physical intimacy issues. She wasn’t aware that he had never been intimate with anyone else, because of this. With her, Jing Yichen had been absolutely normal.

What she knew was that Jing Yichen did not believe in a public displays of affection. He did not believe in gestures that over over the top or cheesy lines that were full of mush. However, his concern and love for Shangguan Ning were true and she could feel it. The rest was not important.

She smiled sweetly and stole a glance at Tiger, who was driving the car. Even though he was in the driver’s seat, and was extremely attentive, he did not once make them feel as if he was invading their privacy.

She quickly looked up and gave Jing Yichen a kiss, then she whispered. “You liked me, didn’t you? Why don’t you admit it?”

It wasn’t often that Shangguan Ning was so openly affectionate. Jing Yichen was in a good mood too, and his smile broadened as he said softly. “I told you, baby, I have always loved you.”

Jing Yichen knew of his shortcomings. He knew that he wasn’t expressive when it came to his emotions. Nor was he good at whispering sweet nothings. Therefore, he had been trying extra hard to show his true self to Shangguan Ning so that she knew that his love was true.

He had always thought earlier that he would never ever be able to love anyone unconditionally. He would never get to feel the emotions that they showed in romantic movies.Ironically when he himself was saying these words, they didn’t feel fake or cheesy. In fact, they came to him organically.

He wanted to tell Shangguan Ning, how much he loved her.

When Shangguan Ning heard these three words, her heart skipped a beat. It was not until sometime later, that she whispered shyly, “I love you too!”

Shangguan Ning also felt that she was similar to Jing Yichen when it came to professing her love for him. Now that she had said it, she felt only happiness in her heart.

They were so deeply in love with each other, even a simple “I love you” was more than thousands of mushy words. Every small act of love brought the two hearts closer than ever.

Jing Yichen’s heartbeat fastened as he bent over and kissed her on her lips.

Jing Yichen didn’t kiss her as pa.s.sionately as he usually did, because they were in the car. After he was done kissing her, he looked at Shangguan Ning and found her still wanting.

He chuckled, “I will inundate you with kisses, when we get home!”

Shangguan Ning was embarra.s.sed. She just wasn’t used to soft kisses coming from him, but she didn’t have the intention of continuing things in the car. Jing Yichen had just distorted the facts to his convenience and was making naughty jokes out of it. She pinched him hard on his arm.

She blushed shyly, all the way home.

After they got home, Shangguan Ning immediately went to the bathroom to have a warm, cozy shower. Finally, her body was free of the smell of wine.

Jing Yichen took a shower as well. He had wanted to shower with Shangguan Ning, but she rejected his suggestion, straight out. So he had no choice but to shower alone, in the other bathroom. Right now, he hated it that his apartment was equipped with two bathrooms. The second bathroom was completely unnecessary.

After showering, he was finally able to carry Shanguan Ning in his arms, without a care in the world. She smelt very nice after the shower. Her body had a scent that was irresistible.

Shangguan Ning held his hand, as he groped her body and asked him,”Do you think you overdid it at the party?”

Although she knew that Jing Yichen was extremely capable and powerful, she was still worried. He had tormented so many people this evening, that she prayed that it wouldn’t all come back to him in some way. She was anxious because she knew that they all would now be seeking revenge.

Jing Yichen smiled. Then he said to her in a seductive voice. “Your husband can handle all the problems that come his way. No matter how big the problem is. I’m sorry that you were in such a helpless position today. I’m glad I decided to bring Lee Duo along. Incase any lives are lost in combat, handling the matter is my responsibility. Anyway, no one would dare to utter a word.”

“Hmm…”

“How do you plan to reward your husband?”

“Isn’t that something that you should do? Why are you asking for a reward now?”

“Alright, it is fine if you don’t reward me. Then you should settle the debt that you owe me, for the past two nights and then we shall call its quits. As for the reward for today, we will discuss it later…”

Jing Yichen and Ning spent the night in each other’s arms. The morning was unusually beautiful.

When Shangguan Ning woke up, she noticed that Jing Yichen had already woken up. He wasn’t in bed anymore.

Jing Yichen was always an early riser, but today he had woken up even earlier because he had to bid goodbye to someone. Before Shangguan Ning had even opened her eyes, he was already at the airport.

It was a bright and sunny morning. Everything looked beautiful, bathed in sunlight.

At the airport though, Tang Yun was creating a scene. She was crying loudly and making a huge fuss, at the VIP lounge. Everyone in the room was already fed up of her tantrums.

The rest of the pa.s.sengers had already boarded the plane whilst Tang Yun refused to get on it. Lee Yong and his men, who were responsible for her protection, couldn’t force her beyond a point. They felt helpless so they had no choice but to call Jing Yichen.

“Get Yichen here! I am absolutely not leaving like this! He was the one who convinced me to come back and now he wants me gone? That is impossible! You must have been bribed by Shangguan Ning. She is the one who wants me gone. I am not boarding this flight and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
