Jing Yichen planted a kiss upon her calves and then said seriously, “Ning, you must tell me when you are injured. I will take revenge for you. You mustn’t tolerate everything alone, understand?”

Shangguan Ning was not a spoilt person. She could handle difficulties and she had always tolerated her injuries quietly. She never told anyone else and had even concealed them from her Uncle, with whom she only wanted to share happiness.

But when Jing Yichen indulged and defended her in this way, she felt that she was getting spoilt, because she could throw a tantrum, vent her anger, and even hit.

Shangguan Ning felt her eyes turn teary as she said softly, “Honey, you will definitely spoil me…”

Jing Yichen smiled as he took her into the arms. He dabbed body lotion upon her legs and said, “My goal is to spoil you so that you can stay by my side all the time. You are my woman and I can indulge you the way I want to.”

He liked it very much Shangguan Ning called him “honey”, because in this way, he felt that she was fully dependent on him and he was a successful husband.

After they finished the bath, Jing Yichen helped Shangguan Ning get dressed. Then he took out the medical kit from the cabinet, picked the anti inflammation cream from it and spread it on the wounds on her calves.

In the brightly lit bedroom, the nail marks upon Shangguan Ning’s white calves looked increasingly clear.

Jing Yichen felt his heart aching. As he dabbed the wound with cotton sticks, he asked softly, “Does it still hurt, baby?”

A light smile hovered over Shangguan Ning’s face. “It was hurting earlier but now when you are dabbing the medicine on it for me, I don’t feel a thing. It is very comfortable, actually.”

Actually, it did hurt a great deal.

When she was stomping upon Tang Yun yesterday, Tang Yun was also pinching her fiercely. Her fingernails were sharp and pointed and they went deep into Shangguan Ning’s flesh.

But she was extremely upset last night and didn’t even taken a shower. So she forgot about the injuries on her legs. When water went into the injuries this morning, it hurt terribly.

But she didn’t want Jing Yichen to get worried. Also, with Jing Yichen by her side and taking care of her all the time, she felt that these injuries didn’t matter at all.

Jing Yichen smiled as he dabbed the medicine for her carefully but felt furious inside his heart.

He could tolerate however Tang Yun behaved with him and whatever evil her plans were, but what he couldn’t tolerate at all was that she had hurt his wife.

If Tang Yun had been standing in front of him, he might have lost control and punched her to death.

After dabbing the medicine, Jing Yichen put away the medical case and dried her hair. He was proficient in it now because he had done this for Shangguan Ning many times.

Shangguan Ning held his waist and allowed Jing Yichen to dry up her hair in peace.

She wasn’t sure if everyone treated their wives so sweetly but what she did know was that no one else would love her as much as Jing Yichen did.

After a while, they went downstairs to have lunch.

Shangguan Ning was impressed by the food on the table as soon as she sat down.

The dishes were very simple and looked ordinary, but all of them were fresh and delicious and Shangguan Ning couldn’t even recognize some of them.

Jing Yichen smiled and said, “Most of them are wild vegetables. Aunt Fu dug each of them from the farm field. Try them!”

Shangguan Ning tasted each of the dish and said with her eyes sparkling, “So delicious!”

She ate up all the wild vegetables and the bowl of shepherd’s purse porridge.

She ate so fast, but Jing Yichen opposite her was still eating in an elegant way. He barely touched the dishes but finished half of the porridge.

Shangguan Ning looked at him in astonishment. “Eat! It is so delicious!”

Jing Yichen smiled helplessly. “These are specially prepared for you. I am a man of refined taste. I can’t eat this kind of food.”

Shangguan Ning got annoyed. Did she have a bad taste? She couldn’t name those wild vegetables but they were very special and delicious.

Maybe Jing Yichen was not used to these dishes. He was, after all, very particular about food.

Only food made by Old Du could satisfy him. He only tasted a little bit of food made by everyone else.

After lunch, they took a nap and when the sun was setting, Jing Yichen took Shangguan Ning outside.

The large patch of land was part of Family Jing’s private property, including the villa group, which was developed and invested in, by Jingsheng Enterprise.

They went through a patch of green farmfield and then reached the brook that looked sparkling. There were fish the size of fingers, swimming back and forth in the brook.

The couple took a walk on the white sand beach next to the brook. Birds were chirping and children’s laughter came from some distance.

Shangguan Ning was a city born girl and had never lived in the countryside before. She didn’t recognize many of the crops but liked the simple and pure air in this place.

It was an environment where there was no compet.i.tion or trouble or jealousy. It was peaceful like a land outside the world where people could relax and be happy.

Shangguan Ning walked for a while and then suddenly stopped. She took off her shoes and held them in her hands.

She said happily, “I want to walk in the water!”

Jing Yichen took her shoes and socks in his hands and said indulgently, “Okay, watch out and don’t slip. Also, you have medicine on your calves, so no water on the wound.”

The brook was very shallow and crystal clear. The water barely covered the back of her feet when Shangguan Ning walked in.

It was already autumn and the water was slightly cool. That made Shangguan Ning feel nice and comfortable.

She kept walking back and forth inside the water, frightening off the fish. That made her laugh loudly.

Shangguan Ning felt as if she had just gone back to her childhood, when Uncle used to take her to the riverside for fis.h.i.+ng and she always wanted to play in the water no matter what. Uncle sometimes agreed that she could play in the shallow water though sometimes he didn’t want her to get into the water. But she always came up with a way to get in, despite his disapproval.

Jing Yichen’s heart softened seeing her laugh happily.

His wife was a woman who could be easily satisfied. A small thing could make her happy for a very long time.

Jing Yichen thought for a second and removed his shoes. Then he put the socks and shoes aside on the beach and walked into the water.

Seeing him join in as well, Shangguan Ning became even happier. She splattered water upon him.

Jing Yichen smiled and s.h.i.+elded himself before he also started the childish game of water splattering with her.
