Chapter 326: Opportunities

Mu Qing ignored her and went to prepare tea and fruit for the three of them. Standing in the kitchen, he hummed under his breath.

Seeing Mu Qing treating Zhao Anan so nicely and spoiling her in such a way, Zheng Lun couldn’t help but get envious. She said wistfully, “Anan, Doctor Mu is very nice to you. You are definitely going to be very happy in the future.”

Zheng Lun didn’t know about Zhao Anan’s disease. She couldn’t have known that though they looked happy together, there was a lot of trouble hidden underneath.

Zhao Anan stayed silent for a bit before smiling and replying, “You will be happy too!”

Zheng Lun shook her head as her brother’s image flashed in her brain. She didn’t know whether to be disappointed or hopeful.

“Come to my house in a couple of days! I have been to Ning’s and yours. My mother says that good friends treat each other to food. I only have you two as my good friends. I have never invited anyone to my home before this.”

Shangguan Ning and Zhao Anan nodded with a smile. “Okay, of course!”

The three women with different personalities played cards, chatted, all the while getting closer to each other. Zheng Lun was no longer as timid and restrained as when they first met her. She was showing the other side of hers.

As the evening approached, the servant of Family Zhao came to deliver the ingredients again. But this time, the chef was here too.

Zhao Anan had asked the chef to come. She wanted to learn how to cook from the chef of Family Zhao.

Therefore, when Jing Yichen and Zheng Jing came back, they found that half of the dishes on the table were delicate and tasty whilst the other half… were horrible.

The two of them threw a look at Mu Qing who nodded helplessly –”Yes, those dishes which are burnt and have no traces of the original ingredients, are the achievements of these three ladies!”

Jing Yichen and Zheng Jing exchanged a look and sat down for food without further complaints.

When they finished half of the meal, Jing Yichen suddenly said, “Ning, you better not cook in the future.”

Shangguan Ning looked at the black fried shrimps which she had made and also thought the same thing. She nodded sadly, “I can’t agree more!”

She knew that she wasn’t good at making food, but Zhao Anan had forced her to. Now she had lost all her reputation.

Compared to Jing Yichen who was straightforward, Zheng Jing said in a very polite tone, fearing that he could break his sister’s heart, “Lun, you have worked hard today. I can take care of this kind of hard work in the future, instead.”

But his obedient sister said excitedly, “No, no! I like making food. Try this dish, Brother, I think that it has turned out well.”

Hearing their conversation, Mu Qing just couldn’t help but feel like laughing. He didn’t say anything to Zhao Anan but started to gulp down the two dishes which she had made.

Zhao Anan was a careless woman, not as elegant as Shangguan Ning or as gentle as Zheng Lun. But she seemed to be better at cooking than them – the look of the dishes might not be good but they tasted okay. At least they were not burnt and the oil and salt was properly used.

For some reason, she turned out to be the best student amongst the three of them.

It was 11pm already by the time they finished the meal. Shangguan Ning and Jing Yichen wanted to leave for home, but were stopped by Zhao Anan.

“It is my birthday today, no one is leaving! We are all sleeping here tonight!”

But there were only three bedrooms at Zhao Anan’s!

Shangguan Ning looked at Zheng Lun and wondered what Zheng Lun and Zheng Jing were going to do? They were brother and sister but they were adults. Besides, Zheng Lun was deeply in love with Zheng Jing. Would it be okay for them to share the bed?

What was Zhao Anan thinking?

Zheng Jing said with a smile, “Alright, we will keep the birthday girl company! I will share the room with Mu Qing, Anan you can share the room with my sister.”

“That won’t work!”

Mu Qing and Zhao Anan burst out these words at the same time and then exchanged a surprised look with each other.

What Mu Qing had not expected was that Zhao Anan would voluntarily want to share the bed with him. Didn’t she always try to get away from his arms?

Zhao Anan didn’t bother about his reasons for saying so. She said happily, “Zheng Jing, you can share the bed with Lun, you are brother and sister, so it is okay to share the bed!”

Zheng Jing was a bit embarra.s.sed. Mu Qing didn’t want to share the bed with him and Jing Yichen was not going to share the bed with anyone else.

But it was a problem if he had to share the bed with his sister.

After saying so, Zhao Anan pushed Zheng Lun and Zheng Jing into one bedroom despite their hesitation. Then she pointed at the bedroom where Shangguan Ning had stayed overnight before. “Ning, that room is yours. Good Night!”

Then she dragged Mu Qing to another bedroom.

Shangguan Ning noticed the proud smile on Zhao Anan’s face. She smiled as she shook her head. She finally understood that Zhao Anan was creating opportunities for Zheng Lun.

But she didn’t think that what was going on with Zheng Lun would work. They were siblings and they couldn’t… get married.

Jing Yichen never cared about such a thing. He didn’t care about what was going on with other people’s relations.h.i.+ps, not even Zhao Anan’s.

Shangguan Ning entered the bedroom with Jing Yichen. As they changed into pajamas, she asked softly, “How did it go with Family Shen?”

She had been thinking about this matter throughout the entire day but didn’t want to mention it earlier because it may have ruined the atmosphere.

Jing Yichen scooped her into his arms and said calmly, “There won’t be any problem with Family Shen. Shen Jinjun is a considerate man. He won’t break up with Family Jing just because his daughter died. Also, Jing Yiran didn’t kill Shen Lingbing. He did drug her but that was not fatal. Her death was caused due to ODing.”

“The person who drugged her was smart. He used the same drug Jing which Yiran did, yet he made sure the portion was many times times larger. Also, Jing Yiran had started to drug Shen Lingbing ten days earlier. All he wanted to do was to make sure Shen Lingbing got sick so that she lost her strength to attend the engagement party. The other person who drugged her, however, increased the portion and killed Shen Lingbing straightaway.”

Shangguan Ning felt really bad when she heard this.
