Mu Wensheng’s first wife pa.s.sed away at an early age, leaving one son behind. The second and third sons were born by the woman whom he remarried. She pa.s.sed away a few years later. But all of his three sons were in very good relations.h.i.+p with each other as if they were real siblings. They had never quarreled with each other during the past decades and there was no such thing as fight for property in their house.

Therefore, he had never understood how the situation of Family Jing could be so complicated.

He thought for a while and scratched his slightly unkempt hair as he said, “I thought that the two brothers were fighting against each other for the granddaughter-in-law. But it seems that they are both out for money.”

Jing Tianyuan glared. “What is that supposed to mean? My granddaughter-in-law is Yichen’s wife. How is she related to that b.a.s.t.a.r.d boy?”

Mu Wensheng was not pleased. “Of course she is! When I went to rescue the girl’s life, Jing Yiran looked as if his own mother had died. I almost couldn’t tell whose wife she was. Then my grandson told me that your granddaughter-in-law was hospitalized because she had been kidnapped by Jing Yiran so that she could become his instead. If he hadn’t drugged her so badly, the girl would not have nearly lost her life. d.a.m.n, I had to take the helicopter to the hospital to save a life.”

Mu Wensheng might not be a reliable person, but he never lied. So Jing Tianyuan knew that what he said was true and he got even more irritated by that.

“Is that true? I never knew about that. Neither my son nor grandson said anything about that. My granddaughter-in-law is a precious being and that b.a.s.t.a.r.d is forbidden to touch her. If anything like this spreads around, then Family Jing would totally lose face.”

He stood up instantly and said, “G.o.d, I need to go home to check on it. I don’t want to lose my home. Maybe my old wife has given my private properties also to that b.a.s.t.a.r.d.”

Mu Wensheng didn’t force him to stay. He said as he was lying in the long chair, “If your home is taken away by that boy, you are welcome to come and live under my roof. Just make sure that you pay the rent.”

Mu Wensheng and Jing Tianyuan had been staying in this yard during the past few days rather than in the villa of Family Mu, because the environment here was much better with green landscape around, befitting the old men.

Jing Tianyuan waved his hands and left in a hurry.

When he arrived at Family Jing, he asked the Butler to meet him in the study. Then he took out the account book which he hadn’t touched in years and started to check the status of his properties.

There were many properties in his hands that used to be registered under both his and Mo Lan’s names. There were some parts that were only registered under Mo Lan’s name for convenience’s sake, so that she didn’t need to go through his approval if she wanted to do anything with those properties.

Jing Tianyuan had never thought about checking the account, because he believed that his wife would not touch his properties so easily.

But with Jing Yiran existing, he couldn’t just be sure any more.

He spent days checking the account. The accounts were not only complicated and many and needed to be checked with related government departments, but also because Jing Tianyuan was no longer young and he couldn’t work for too long.

When the check was complete, Jing Tianyuan almost pa.s.sed out.

He had lost almost a quarter of his properties.

It was not a small number. These properties were enough to establish an enormous business empire.

All of his properties had been acc.u.mulated and pa.s.sed down from generations of Family Jing and they were going to be pa.s.sed down to Jing Yichen later so that he could pa.s.s them down to his offspring.

How was he going to face the ancestors of Family Jing when a quarter of the properties was missing?

Jing Tianyuan got so annoyed that his face paled. The Butler called the doctor immediately.

In Jing Zhongxiu’s absence, the old lord needed to be fine.

Having heard that the old lord was not feeling well, the doctor arrived instantly. After checking him thoroughly, he looked a bit more relaxed.

“The old lord is just angry and agitated because of which his heartbeat is irregular. He needs some rest and then he will be fine.”

Jing Tianyuan felt much better after resting for a while.

He had always been healthy. He barely got sick since he always ate the therapy ball Mu Wensheng had made for him.

But when Mo Lan returned home at night, Jing Tianyuan was furious.

“Mo Lan, tell me where are the properties of old Family Jing? Why are the ones under your name, missing? How can I face my dad and grandpa when I pa.s.s away?”

Jing Tianyuan had been spoiling Mo Lan throughout his whole life. They were a couple whom everyone else envied, when they had been young. Even in the later years, they always had a wonderful relations.h.i.+p with each other. They quarreled with each other but never had a real fight.

During the past decades, Jing Tianyuan had lost his temper at Mo Lan only twice.

The first time was when she had insisted on keeping Zhang Rong’s baby due to which Zhao Qing died in a car accident.

And today was the second time.

Jing Tianyuan would not frown even if Mo Lan made a huge mistake.

But these matters were family affairs and might lead to the splitting of Family Jing because of which this flouris.h.i.+ng family would collapse.

That was what he couldn’t tolerate.

Mo Lan got a bit uneasy being interrogated by Jing Tianyuan. But she had always been the dominating one so she didn’t allow Jing Tianyuan to shout at her.

“So what! I took them!” She shouted loudly and furiously matching Jing Tianyuan’s.

“I have given them to n.o.body else but Ran. He is also my grandson. What is wrong with giving them to him? You can give everything to Chen, so why can’t you give anything to Ran? Chen has everything but Ran has nothing. I am willing to give everything to him and I will give him more. I have also given him the shares and all of my dowries. He would have been killed by Chen without these things around him.”

Jing Tianyuan never expected that his wife could be so unreasonable. She could be unreasonable in small matters but she always listened to him rather than make decisions alone. But she had snapped at him in this way at this moment.

Those were the roots Family Jing fed on one generation after another, the biggest jumping board Family Jing could use in case Family Jing wobbled.

Mo Lan wanted to give Jing Yiran even more with a quarter missing, and she had even given him the dowry. Those were enough to buy out half of Jingsheng.

With fury attacking right into the heart, Jing Tianyuan spilled out a mouthful of blood and pa.s.sed out.

The Butler screamed at the top of his voice in fright, “Old Lord!”
