Mu Qing paled as he said through clenched teeth, “Master Jing, she can’t be….”

Jing Yichen nodded. “Yes, she is.”

Mu Qing suddenly started to rub his hands against his suit as if they were infected with something filthy. Zheng Jing was quite confused by both their behaviors.

“What are you two talking about? Who is Lan Yu? I am so confused!” Zheng Jing held Mu Qing’s arms as he watched Mu Qing rubbing off his hands crazily.

Mu Qing said pitifully in despair, “Bro, I have been completely tricked by Master Jing. I have just been touched by that hideous woman. She took advantage of me. Oh my innocence has been ruined.”

Zheng Jing was speechless. He released his arms and snorted. “Lan Yu’s voice is terrible, but she looks decent. How come she is hideous? Also, you touched her first and took advantage of her. Now you are saying that you are the disadvantaged party. Anyways, tell me, who on earth is Lan Yu?”

Jing Yichen’s cold voice said, “Her name is Yang Muyan.”

Zheng Jing turned his head in astonishment. “Yang Muyan? You mean the weirdo of Family Yang? But isn’t Yang Muyan very…”

He threw a look at Mu Qing and said, “Very hideous? I heard that she was madly in love with Mu Qing and wanted to marry no one but him. The entire A City knew that!”

If she wanted to marry an ordinary man then it was still ok. But Mu Qing was the director of a top-notch hospital in A City, was outgoing, and good-looking as well. He had way too many girls courting him.

The problem was that Yang Muyan desperately wanted to marry Mu Qing, even offering half of Family Yang’s properties as dowry. But Mu Qing turned her down because he found her to be too ugly.

No one knew the exact worth of half of Family Yang’s properties. But Family Yang was the third wealthiest family of A City and earned billions of yuan each year from their family enterprise. It was said that the majority of the income was earned by Yang Muyan.

Yang Muyan had been an intellectual girl who was deeply adored by Lady Yang. But she barely showed up at any occasions and few people in the city had met her, including Zheng Jing.

But there had been many rumors going around about her. One of the most important one was that she was way too hideous!

Mu Qing had made up his mind to marry her so that he could take the truckload of dowry for investing in his hospital.

But he had told Zheng Jing many times that he wouldn’t be able to accept that his wife was an ugly person.

Therefore, he retreated as many times as he made up his mind. Eventually, Jing Yichen invested Family Mu’s Hospital so that the hospital could go on functioning smoothly.

“Are you sure?” Zheng Jing still couldn’t believe it. “Lan Yu sounds horrible, like 100 crows singing together. But she looks good, not ugly at all!”

Mu Qing also asked. “Master Jing, are you sure? I have met Yang Muyan. Honestly, she was so ugly that it gave me nightmares for several days in a row. Also, the voice is different. Her voice was quite nice if I remember correctly.”

Although he asked him the question, he knew pretty well that Jing Yichen was not the kind to make a mistake. If he said that Lan Yu was really Yang Muyan, then she was for sure.

Jing Yichen said calmly, “I am sure. Yang Muyan must have killed the real Lan Yu. The Lan Yu we met fits Yang Muyan’s profile. She is smart, intelligent, fragile and weak. Her voice has changed because of the fire at Family Yang. As for the look, Mu Qing, try to remember what she was like when you met her for the first time.”

Since it was important, Mu Qing thought carefully before replying. “When I saw her for the first time, her face was totally swelled up. She had pustules all over her, which were like large sized acne. I think that she must have got them because of a serious endocrine dyscrasia, or maybe because she had tried too many products on herself.”

“When you saw her back then, she was in an abnormal condition. What we saw today might be how she normally looks. She didn’t go out because of her appearance, so no one knows much about her. Even if Mu Qing had met her before, he couldn’t possibly have recognized her straight away. Hence it has been easy for her to disguise herself.”

Jing Yichen’s thoughts got more and more clear. He had suspected Lan Yu’s ident.i.ty right from the beginning.

No one apart from Yang Muyan would be able to get 10% shares of Family Ji’s Enterprise for Ji Bo. Yang Muyan must have already been in charge of her dowry before the fire, which must be a tremendously large amount of money.

“She must have been practicing a lot to become such an evil woman. Her appearance is what people talk about. I bet that she must have turned into the woman Mu Qing met, when she was just a teenager. That was why she barely went out. But she has always been fond of Mu Qing and that is why I asked Mu Qing to join us today – to test her.”

Both Mu Qing and Zheng Jing were reminded of how Lan Yu had reacted when she had seen him. Lan Yu had never been fond of her fiancé Ji Bo but showed a sharp emotional response towards Mu Qing. Apparently, Jing Yichen was right.

“You said that Yang Muyan became what she looked like because of too many external products. But I disagree. I think that someone from Family Yang poisoned her to make her look like this, someone who hated her but stayed close to her. Yang Muyan is now back to normal because she is away from that person after Family Yang was destroyed.”

Having heard him a.n.a.lyzing the situation, Zheng Jing laughed bitterly. “Honestly, Master Jing, if you ever think of becoming a police officer, maybe me and my team would be jobless!”

Jing Yichen could connect seemingly unrelated things together and catch all the small details. He was a born policeman!
