That sound of crying creeped people out in broad daylight, just like the one from the wronged souls and ghosts.

Zhao Anan sprang up all of a sudden and bellowed, “Who in the h.e.l.l is making such a noise?”

She was not scared of these things, but those cries would affect her unborn nephew.

The villa’s servant walked out of the kitchen and came to Shangguan Ning and said in terror, “Both of you go inside. We will go and check it out.”

Shangguan Ning nodded. “We will be fine. You be careful.”

Lu was out there. There should not be any problem.

Shangguan Ning was not scared, though she was a bit troubled.

She subconsciously ma.s.saged her belly and showed a touch of determination on her elegant face.

Baby, mom will protect you. We will wait for your father to return.

Suddenly, they could hear the sound of shots being fired outside the villa, and then the crying stopped.

Some time later, silence dominated the villa.

Hearing the sound of running footsteps, Shangguan Ning dragged Zhao Anan and retreated to the living room. She had a feeling that Lu must have been the one who shot the bullets just now, but the footsteps didn’t sound like Lu. She would not make any sound in such a situation.

Zhao Anan wanted to go out and take a look. But she gave up the idea at the sight of Shangguan Ning. She better stay by Shangguan Ning’s side to keep her safe no matter what happened outside.

What if it was a trap – when she left Shangguan Ning, she would fall into the trap. That was what happened on TV shows. Zhao Anan had always considered those people silly, so she followed Shangguan Ning without hesitation.

A long while later, there came no sound in the villa as if time had stopped for a bit. There didn’t seem to be anyone else in the villa apart from Shangguan Ning and Zhao Anan.

“Don’t be scared, Ning. I will keep you and my nephew safe. I do not have too long to live. My existence will be worth the while if I can save you and the baby!”

Shangguan Ning got extremely annoyed upon hearing Zhao Anan’s words. “Shut up now! What nonsense are you talking? You are definitely going to live for a very long time. Both my baby and I are fine, we don’t need your rescue. I don’t want you talking nonsense. I won’t let you jeopardise your life for mine. Do you hear me?”

Shangguan Ning usually had a mild temperament. Zhao Anan got startled when she threw temper at her for the first time.

She knew that Shangguan Ning was annoyed by what she said about her short life-span. She was at the edge of tears when she said that.

Honestly, why did Shangguan Ning think more about her life than her own. She was so touched.

Then someone clapped at the entrance of the living room followed by a woman’s laughter. “What a lovely pair of sisters!”

Zhao Anan and Shangguan Ning turned their heads following the sound.

There were two women standing there, one gentle and beautiful, the other hot and s.e.xy. They would have been lovely girls except both of them had terrible hearts. They were Shangguan Ning’s enemies.

“Sister, long time no see. You almost killed me. Actually, I am a dead woman who is here to seek revenge.”

Shangguan Ning looked with hatred in her eyes at the woman in a pink dress. “What are you doing here, Shangguan Rongxue? Are you here to ask for your death?”

Jing Yichen had told Shangguan Ning that Shangguan Rouxue was still alive. Shangguan Ning was not surprised at the sight of her. But she was not sure how Shangguan Rouxue had managed to enter the villa.

The villa was equipped with an alarm system and there were many bodyguards on watch, including Lu. It was strange that Shangguan Rouxue could come in so easily.

Then another sinister voice arose. “I heard that you are pregnant, Shangguan Ning.”

Shangguan Ning looked at Tang Yun standing next to Shangguan Rouxue.

She was no longer wearing elegant clothes. Instead, she had put on smokey eye makeup with dark red color on the lips. She had a gold color wig on her head and was dressed in a tight top that showed half of her b.r.e.a.s.t.s. Her beautiful body could be seen clearly and the black leather gloves and boots made her look like a hooligan from some gang.

Shangguan Ning looked at Tang Yun who was not staring at her but at Zhao Anan in fury. She had not forgotten what they had done to her back at the hospital.

Zhao Anan and Zheng Lun had shaved her head little by little so that she ended up getting almost no hair growth. Now a days, she couldn’t meet anyone without wearing a wig. She was going to take revenge from Zhao Anan who had whipped her badly.

Zhao Anan glared back at Tang Yun. She was never scared of getting into a fight. She would have killed her ages ago if Tang Yun had not saved her cousin once. She was a troublemaker.

Tang Yun stopped glaring at Zhao Anan and moved her gaze back to Shangguan Ning. She stared at her belly as if trying to kill the baby inside with her look.

Shangguan Ning was the key target before she went to Zhao Anan.

She was not going to allow Shangguan Ning to give birth to the baby. Family Jing was not going to have any offspring.

Shangguan Ning looked at her calmly and said, “Yes, I am pregnant with my husband, Jing Yichen’s child. Any questions?”

Tang Yun was about to say something when Shangguan Ning interrupted her instantly. “You better let your questions rot inside your stomach. My being pregnant has nothing to do with you. Do you have a death wish that you dared to break into my home? Or do you think I won’t kill you just because you saved my husband’s life? You are mistaken. I am not as kind hearted as you think.”

She said as she scooped out a gun from the pocket of her sportswear and then aimed at Tang Yun’s forehead in a professional way.

The rest of the women were startled. Shangguan Ning knew how to use a gun?

And she had a gun on her inside her own home!

It didn’t make sense. This was not her style.

Zhao Anan burst into laughter after a moment of astonishment. “Ning, you are truly the coolest woman I have ever known!”
