Jing Yiran did not react to Jing Yichen’s words as he normally did. He looked determined and that was the only expression on his handsome face.

“I am here even if it means death. I did not come back for myself. I am here for Lu.”

Hearing what Jing Yiran said, Jing Yichen was surprised.

That was not what the earlier Jing Yiran would have said.

For Lu?

Since when did he become such good friends with Lu?

Could it be because Lu saved his life and took care of him for a month, that he was moved and wanted to repay her kindness with his life?

Jing Yichen might have believed the authenticity of such words if they came out of someone else’s mouth. But he would never believe that a man like Jing Yiran would do something like this.

Who was Jing Yiran?

He was a famous womanizer of A City and had fooled around with numerous women. None of them had gripped his heart. For him, women were disposable.

Also, as far as he knew, Lu was not Jing Yiran’s type.

She was tiny, strong and violent. He preferred women who were charming, sunny and mature.

Jing Yiran had known that Jing Yichen would not believe what he said. He had been Jing Yichen’s rival for a long time and if Jing Yichen knew him well, he also had a good knowledge of his brother.

Even Jing Yiran could not believe that he had changed so much and he must be crazy to bow down to Jing Yichen.

He had been Jing Yichen’s worst enemy. A month ago, he had been killed once by Jing Yichen but he survived and ended up standing here.

Jing Yiran smiled self-mockingly.

“So you don’t believe it? I also find it incredible. But I can tell you that I am here for Lu. I would like you to tell Jing Zhongxiu to keep protecting Lu, so that those who are hunting her, or trying to take her away for experimentation or hiring, should all go away.”

Jing Yichen’s men had been keeping their eyes on Lu and Jing Yiran on the sly. He knew how much trouble they were in.

But he had never expected that it would become the reason for Jing Yiran’s return!

Lu was capable enough to hide from those people, but she might suffer a great deal because of that. Jing Yiran, on the other hand, would make it even harder for her. But Lu had faced even harder situations than this and Jing Yichen knew what Lu was really capable of. So he found Jing Yiran’s decision even more curious.

“Lu does not need protection. If you know about her being an experimental tool, you should know that she is strong enough to survive, even with you, who would drag her down.”

Jing Yiran did not get furious at Jing Yichen’s words. He would have started a fight with Jing Yichen earlier after hearing such terrible words, but now, he stood motionless, looking calm.

It was because he was aware that he indeed had been dragging Lu down during the past one month.

Jing Yichen found it even more curious when he saw Jing Yiran staying silent.

But he did not show it. Instead, he sounded cold and said distantly, “Why must Family Jing keep her safe? Are you planning to make use of her so as to harm my family in the future? You do have a brain but you have found the wrong target.”

“The Jing Family does not owe Lu anything. On the contrary, you can ask her how much she owes us. Apart from driving her enemies away, she needs a large amount of money for medical treatment. Her virus returns every sixth month and she needs a blood transfusion. If the Jing Family had not been a wealthy family, she would have used up all of our money. But no matter how nicely the Jing Family treated her, she still chose to be on your side. Why should we have her with us?”

“Virus returns? She needs blood transfusion?!”

Jing Yiran got startled. He felt his heart ache again.

He had no idea!

Lu never mentioned it and had been keeping this away from him.

He had thought that she was used to the virus and was basically safe.

But it turned out that she was still roaming around with the threat of death inside her.

“If that is the case, then I will definitely expect the Jing Family to take her in.”

Jing Yiran had no idea when the virus inside Lu would return, but he felt that the date was approaching, because during the past year, he had seen Lu around. She had not been hospitalized during that time.

The Jing Family was the only one who could help her.

He pressed down his anger and tried to speak as calmly as possible. “Okay, I am not worth anything, but I have something that may be useful for you!”

Jing Yichen found it even more curious. He had lashed out at Jing Yiran and he should have gotten mad. But why was he not angry yet?

Was this man really that irritable, out of control Jing Yiran?

Jing Yichen suspected that the bullet had affected his head.

Suppressing his thoughts, Jing Yichen said coldly, “I don’t want to make any deal with you.”

Jing Yiran clenched his teeth and said in a low voice, “What if I know where Yang Muyan is?”
