Jing Yiran woke up on the evening of the following day.

He was generally healthy, so apart from feeling weak and a bit dizzy, he was mostly fine.

Seeing him wake up, Lu said in a serious tone, “No more stunts like this again.”

“I am fine, I will recover soon.”

Jing Yiran had not planned to tell Lu about him giving her the blood. But she got to know about it after all and that made him feel a bit uncomfortable.

“When will the blood transfusion happen?”

“The day after tomorrow.”

“I will go with you!”

Lu looked at him quietly and said with a soft voice, “No need, I can go on my own. You just stay at home and rest.”

“Let me go with you, what if you are replaced by the other one that day again?”

“Won’t happen. It is very unlikely that she would replace me when the virus is breaking out. When my energy is draining badly, it’s always me there.”

Jing Yiran got startled. He did not expect that the virus could work in this way.

But he still insisted. “I will keep you company, anyway!”

Lu could not persuade him. So two days later, Jing Yiran went to the Mu’s Hospital with her.

They went there deep at night, fearing that Yang Muyan’s men would discover them.

At the Mu’s Hospital, Doctor Mu and Mu Qing were waiting for them.

There was a huge secret hidden inside Lu’s body, and if someone else knew about the powerful virus that could improve mankind’s gene, she would attract a lot of different people. So only Mu Wensheng and Mu Qing knew about this treatment.

Jing Yichen was not here. Lu had done this numerous times, and Mu Wensheng had never failed at it, so Jing Yichen did not think that this matter was worth his attention.

Mu Wensheng had learnt from Jing Tianyuan that Jing Yiran had not died, so he was not surprised to see him at this moment. But he found it curious that Jing Yiran kept Lu company for the surgery. Mu Qing whispered in his ears to tell him what was going on.

“Never expected a b.a.s.t.a.r.d like you would come to understand the world. But you two look cute together!”

Jing Yiran was surprised that Mu Wensheng would think that he and Lu looked cute together.

Mu Wensheng never praised anyone, and even to his own grandson, he would always lecture and teach him harsh lessons.

Jing Yiran did not utter a single word.

Lu ignored Mu Wensheng too. She was an introvert. Mu Wensheng might not speak nice words, but he was her savior and she admired him from the bottom of her heart.

It could not permanently cure the virus, but helped expand her lifespan, tremendously.

It sounded like a simple surgery, but the process was actually very complicated. The virus-infected blood had to be taken out whilst new anti-virus blood must be injected at the same time. During this process, her body couldn’t be completely drained out of blood. The process had to be done slowly and dozens of circulations were done before the density of virus infected blood inside Lu was reduced to the lowest degree.

The virus inside her body had invaded every single cell of hers, so even if the blood was changed, the new red blood cells would soon be infected.

That was why she must get the blood changed every sixth month.

Lu removed her clothes without embarra.s.sment. Then she laid down on the operation table with only her underwear on. This startled Jing Yiran.

But neither Mu Wensheng nor Mu Qing had the slightest change of expression. Mu Qing proficiently connected all instruments to Lu. Her thighs and belly were connected with devices, so was every corner of her body, even her feet.

After the linking was done, the devices were turned on in the operation room, showing the index of Lu’s physical conditions.

Jing Yiran hesitated for a moment before he made up his mind.

Although he did not feel comfortable to see Lu naked in front of two men, they were doctors and must be used to naked bodies. Also, they were trying to make sure that Lu would have a successful surgery, so it would not work even if he was unwilling to let her do so.

The process of blood changing lasted for days, during which time, Lu pa.s.sed out many times. Since the newly-injected blood was all antivirus blood working against the infected blood inside her body, the body would go in shock for a few minutes.

Mu Wensheng and Mu Qing took turns in doing the procedure but even then, both of them looked very tired with bloodshot eyes.

Mu Qing was slightly better than Mu Wensheng who was much older and needed a long resting time before going back to do the procedure, again.

Jing Yiran was also on guard all the time. He kept Lu company, making her feel warm and cared for. She even stretched out her cold hands to feel Jing Yiran’s handsome face.

“You have grown a beard.”

“You don’t like it?”

Jing Yiran half-squatted by the operation table and had his hands over her little ones, trying to give her some warmth. His eyes were br.i.m.m.i.n.g with concern.

Lu observed him carefully for a moment and then cracked a slight smile. “I do. You look even more handsome now.”

Right now, she seemed to be very emotional, no longer cold like her usual self.

Jing Yiran almost had tears trickling down his cheeks. Suppressing the pain in his heart, he showed a charming smile. “Glad that you like it. I will become more handsome and I will only show myself to you!”

Mu Qing rolled his eyes as he was busy putting new blood into Lu whilst observing the monitor.

“Hey you two, can you not show off your love here? I am still here. You both are so cruel. I am exhausted to death and no one is looking after me. I will leave immediately if you keep up this behaviour.”

Ignoring Mu Qing, Jing Yiran kept staring at Lu with a smile.

Lu also ignored Mu Qing and said softly, “It feels nice to have you by my side. Will you continue to do this in the future, too?”

“I will!”
