Chapter 595: No Shame

Shangguan Ning almost burst into tears when she heard his voice.

She was driving at a high speed following the black Buick in the modified car which Jing Zhongxiu had given her.

She had spoken to Tang Shunian for more than one minute, and Jing Zhongxiu’s men had managed to trace Tang Shunian’s location. Jing Zhongxiu was now one step ahead and would reach the place before her.

Jing Zhongxiu’s mission for her had been to drag the conversation with Tang Shunian for as long as possible.

And she did it!

For whatever reason, Tang Shunian seemed to enjoy talking with her. As long as he was willing to chat, it was good enough for her.

She did not care about being taken advantage of, by Tang Shunian, verbally, and he had not said anything over the top, either. Tang Shunian had acted like a gentleman during the entire process.

She was willing to keep Tang Shunian talking with her, because only in this way, he would be distracted from hurting Jing Yichen, at least momentarily.

Although Shangguan Ning could barely hear Jing Yichen’s voice, she was still very happy to hear that he did not get injured.

“Yichen, how are you doing?”

Shangguan Ning’s concern reached him through the phone.

Maybe it was because of the bad signal in the cellar, but her voice was not very clear.

Jing Yichen’s angry heart was warmed by her voice, and he no longer felt that his blood-soaked s.h.i.+rt was uncomfortable.

“I am fine, don’t come here, do as I say.”

“No, I will come there! He has promised that as long as I come to you, you will be fine. Otherwise, you will be in danger!”

Tang Shunian could not help but show a cruel and lethal smile as he heard Shangguan Ning’s determined voice.

Well, well, Jing Yichen’s woman was going to reach here. He had been looking forward to seeing this beautiful woman who could heal people.

She said all of it on purpose.

It was through her words that Jing Yichen realized that his father was on his way, too.

But he still did not want Shangguan Ning to come here. It was a h.e.l.lhole, and he did not want her to come and be exposed to the danger.

He was just about to say something when Tang Shunian took away the phone. He turned off the speaker and said, “Miss Shangguan, one minute is over. Both of you should stop showing off your love. You guys can talk face to face when you meet, alright?”

Jing Yichen could not hear what Shangguan Ning replied, but he could hear what Tang Shunian said about “not being worried, your husband is currently safe etc”. He figured that Shangguan Ning was asking Tang Shunian not to do anything to him.

They spoke for a while before Tang Shunian hung up.

He stared at the picture on the phone for a long time before looking up and said with a twisted smile, “What a gentle woman, innocent and smart. She fits me perfectly. I don’t like idiotic or tricky women. Shangguan Ning is just perfect.”

Maybe it was because he had just spoken with Shangguan Ning, Jing Yichen calmed himself down.

This cellar, which had been filthy, b.l.o.o.d.y and dark, failed to disturb him any longer.

Shangguan Ning’s voice had shown him a glimmer of light in the darkness.

All this time, she had been the bright suns.h.i.+ne in his life, offering him warmth and bringing color to his life.

Staring at Tang Shunian, Jing Yichen stopped showing any more emotions but said distantly, “She is mine. As for you, you will always be a lonely wandering ghost even in h.e.l.l.”

Tang Shunian threw a look at Jing Yichen as if he were staring at an idiot. Then he said in an exaggerated tone, “Jing Yichen, have you lost your memory? Look at these people on the ground. And think back to what happened eleven years ago. You were like a stray dog who hid himself under a pile of bodies just to avoid those crazy men.”

For the first time after eleven years, Jing Yichen did not feel disgusted by what had happened, and for the first time, he did not puke.

“Yes, I remember everything. I was forced to hide under the bodies, and I could not stand being touched by these people. But I was lucky! They were driven crazy by your drugs and even killed each other. I have no shame that I survived using whatever means possible. I survived because I am better than you. You sold yourself, whilst I didn’t have to do it.”

Tang Shunian was irritated by Jing Yichen’s provocative words. He shouted loudly, “Shut up!”

“Oh yeah? Do you remember what you have been through, the filthy life which you had to endure?” Jing Yichen looked rather bored. He did not care about how angry Tang Shunian was becoming.

But Tang Shunian stayed angry for just one minute before he suppressed his emotions.

After so many years, he had developed an iron clad control over his feelings.

He could stay calm and think about matters rationally under pressure.

“Jing Yichen, are you trying to irritate me?” Tang Shunian lowered his voice, sounding disdainful. “You were able to escape only because I was careless.”

“I had underestimated you. I thought that a few hundred people and the influence of drugs could conquer you. I had been overconfident but realized later that you were just too capable to be beaten down by only this much.”

Tang Shunian’s handsome face still showed astonishment when he thought of what happened in the past.

“I made an erroneous judgement. I did not expect that you could be so skilled at fighting and had such a strong resistance towards the large doses of drugs. I had thought that you would definitely die, so I left after watching the show for one day. But you managed to escape. Lucky for me. Had I stayed longer, I would have died like my brothers when Jing Zhongxiu arrived. But now, I have understood what you are capable of, and I will not repeat my mistake.”

“Look at the guns around you, how would you ever escape?”
