“How does that sound? You can trade your freedom for Jing Yichen’s. Actually, I am more gentle than Jing Yichen, and I know how to treat women right. You will definitely be happier!”

He was blackmailing her but his gentle voice and mild tone made him sound as if he were a gentleman courting a lady.

Shangguan Ning sneered inwardly but said calmly, “I agree!”

“Oh?”

Tang Shunian was surprised, and couldn’t conceal his reaction.

“Miss Shangguan, didn’t you make up your mind too fast? Don’t you need to think about it further? I suspect your sincerity when you answered so quickly. You sound as if you are bluffing. I hate it when people try to trick me.”

“I can do anything for my husband. You can suspect my sincerity towards you, but you do not need to suspect my feelings for my husband. There is no doubt that I will trade my freedom for his.”

Shangguan Ning hated Tang Shunian to the bone, but still sounded poised and rational.

She did not need to deal with Tang Shunian on her own, so no matter what he said, she would simply say yes!

Her mission was to distract Tang Shunian, so that he would not hurt Jing Yichen more.

It had been a while since she got the first call. She was driving, but Jing Zhongxiu had taken the helicopter. He and his men must have arrived there already.

Shangguan Ning denied calmly. “I had nothing to do with it. I drove out of home the moment I saw your text. I did not talk with my father. I have no idea about his whereabouts.”

“Hahaha!” Tang Shunian suddenly laughed wildly, but he did not sound happy.

“Shangguan Ning, I underestimated you. I thought that you were just an eye candy, but it seems that you are a good actress. You are brave and dared to come to me with my men. Beautiful and capable, I do look forward to seeing you!”

“I am already at your mercy, Tang Shunian. Are you still afraid that a weak woman like me would run away? Or, are you so scared that my father will kill you?”

“Oh, you are provoking me again.” Tang Shunian still behaved like a gentleman and said in a mild tone, “I still can’t help but fall for your words. It has been a long time since a woman talked with me in this way. Anyone who dared to talk with me in this way was chopped by me and fed to the dogs.”

Shangguan Ning felt goose b.u.mps on her back after hearing what Tang Shunian said.

This man was indeed a maniac.

“So, you will cut me to pieces as well, if I show up?”

“Are you scared, Ning?” Tang Shunian sounded rather excited when he imagined the scenario. His voice turned sweeter and he even changed the way of addressing her.

After the Tang Family collapsed, Tang Shunian had not spoken with a woman in this way.

He hated women!

Women would remind him of the torment which he went through with those aged, obese and old women. They were all ugly and disgusting people who cheered themselves by making fun of him!

But for some reason, Tang Shunian did not hate Shangguan Ning.

He had gotten himself numerous outstanding women in order to cure his problem. He tried hanging out with all kinds, the lovely, the innocent, the naive, the charming, but none of them succeeded in curing him.

Shangguan Ning was the only woman so far, who could make him feel relaxed.

How wonderful! She was not only able to make Jing Yichen overcome the psychological barrier, but also made him feel comfortable.

Tang Shunian turned on the computer and leafed through the thousands of pictures stored in the computer that showed only one woman – Shangguan Ning.

Shangguan Ning was not aware of her having been clicked. Nor did she have any idea that Tang Shunian had kept a large numbers of her pictures.

All she could feel was Tang Shunian did not seem to be scared by Jing Zhongxiu’s arrival.

Confused, she asked Tang Shunian politely. “Will you believe me if I say that I am not scared?”

“Oh, you are indeed honest. Look, that is another merit of yours. I feel that I like you even more. You suit me perfectly.”

“I don’t think so.” Shangguan Ning didn’t like the way Tang Shunian was speaking and said with a calm voice, “You are cruel, and I am scared.”

Sure enough, Tang Shunian seemed very pleased. He liked it when Shangguan Ning was talking in a neutral tone, and he liked it even more when Shangguan Ning was not being docile.

His voice sounded as if he were drunk. So he said in an excited voice, “Don’t be scared, Ning, I enjoy speaking with you. I won’t chop you and feed you to the dogs. Your voice is so nice. It tickles me. I am a bit regretful that I noticed you way too late, otherwise you would have been mine by now. You can read stories to me every single day, alright?”

“That won’t work.” Shangguan Ning turned him down coldly, “If you want to hear stories, you can tune into a broadcaster.”

“No, honey, you are smart enough to have noticed that I don’t like gentle, docile women. I like a cold, distant woman like you. You don’t want to please me, and you won’t want to please me just because you are scared, I like that.”

Shangguan Ning was a bit shocked.

Tang Shunian was mentally disturbed, but he was very intelligent. He had realised that she noticed his preference and was making use of it.

Tang Shunian caressed Shangguan Ning’s eyebrows on the screen and moved his fingers over her exquisite face. “You have the right looks, and voice. You are pretty when you throw a temper, when you do nothing, when you smile. You are the prettiest woman in the world, you know.”

Shangguan Ning could not help but frown.

She felt that Tang Shunian was talking in a very strange way.

Had he seen her before?

Or did they ever meet?

He was talking in such a way as if he knew her well!
