Mu Qing shook his head and said truthfully, “I have already given Master Jing way too many antibiotics and he should not get more shots at the moment. I could have given him some alcohol to bring the fever down, but he was seriously injured and the physical method would not work. So there is no other way to bring down his temperature at this moment.”

Seeing Shangguan Ning looking so concerned, he also got worked up. But he said, “Don’t worry, Sister-in-law, I know how Master Jing is doing. He may have a fever right now, but it doesn’t matter. She forced a grateful smile at Mu Qing. “Okay, I understand. Go and rest, you have been working for the whole day.”

Mu Qing had, as far as Shangguan Ning knew, been working for almost ten hours without resting or taking even a bite of food or a sip of water, ever since Jing Yichen and other injured men were brought in.

He was strong, but he could also collapse. Now his eyes were bloodshot, and he looked really tired.

Mu Qing smiled at Shangguan Ning brightly, “It is okay. As long as you are fine, I won’t get tired. I am a skillful doctor and it’s my primary duty to save people. In this aspect, I am better than Master Jing, and proud of it.”

He exchanged a few words with Shangguan Ning, and then left from there after a.s.suring her that Jing Yichen would be fine.

As he was closing the door, he noticed how concerned Shangguan Ning was when she looked at Jing Yichen. She loved him deeply and could do anything for her. It was a touching sight.

Mu Qing had not understood why Jing Yichen would force Shangguan Ning to marry him after knowing her for such a short period in the beginning.

Jing Yichen was not an impulsive person. Instead, he was always rational and careful, and never got emotionally involved to this extent. This was the only thing which he had done impulsively.

But he had been proven wrong. Jing Yichen had not been impulsive or emotionally overwrought even when it came to marriage.

He had simply recognised that Shangguan Ning would suit him perfectly and was afraid that she may slip away from him, thus making her stay by his side, using force.

Mu Qing did admire Jing Yichen who always had a good judgement about things. He either stayed away from love relations.h.i.+ps or found the most reliable and devoted wife.

They were deeply connected with each other at the moment. As time went by, their emotions had strengthened and deepened.

If one of them left, the other would not be able to live on, alone.

That was the most beautiful love in the world – staying together forever until death. Their love had become so deep that they could read each other’s hearts.

He wondered when he and Zhao Anan would experience the same thing, staying with each other despite any difficulties, and loving each other no matter how much time had pa.s.sed by.

Mu Qing did not dare to expect too much.

There was only one Jing Yichen and one Shangguan Ning in the entire world. He had witnessed too many people at the hospital but was yet to find any other couple as devoted as them.

He slid the door shut, nodded at Lee Duo and Knife Lee who were guarding outside and left.

In the ward, Shangguan Ning was sitting by Jing Yichen’s bedside.

She had been ignoring the increasing discomfort and pain in her body.

Lu’s blood had brought her complications. She was feeling sour and her bones had started to hurt. But right now, they were too insignificant for Shangguan Ning to bother.

Her soft hands were holding Jing Yichen’s. She was staring at his pale face and thought of how he had fought against those numerous strong men standing on the high pile of bodies. Her heart hurt like crazy when she thought of what Tang Shunian told her.

Luckily, she arrived in time, and had Lu with her. If she had gone there alone, she would have failed to help him and instead, slowed him down. He would not have been able to withstand the attack for too long.

Shangguan Ning was very grateful to Lu. She had helped a great deal this time. It had been because of her strength that kept her and Jing Yichen safe.

She wished that she knew how to use fists, so that she could keep herself safe even if she might not be able to help Jing Yichen.

The moment she saw Jing Yichen earlier today, she felt her heart break.

When they arrived, he was already at the verge of losing his strength!

He was supporting himself with the strongest willpower, forbidding himself to fall down.

She had almost fainted when she saw the blood all across the cellar. It was such a disgusting environment with a bad smell. It was not a place for anyone to survive in.

Some of the bodies had started rotting away. There were broken limbs everywhere, sinister and creepy. It was a place where Jing Yichen had to spend a long time.

Suddenly a hand crept over her face, wiping off the tears.

“Why crying?”

The low, hoa.r.s.e voice reached her ears as Shangguan Ning suddenly opened her eyes and said with joyful surprise, “You are awake, Yichen!”
