Her eyes were bright as she told him her plan for herself and her unborn child. How her child would receive the love and attention it would never get from its father from the people who truly cared about them. 

Li Xiuying had decided to finally cut off everything from her husband and move on. She was willing to start again without him although she knew it would be hard to live in this judgemental society as a divorcee. 

People would wonder what the h.e.l.l was wrong with her and why did her husband cheat on her despite everything that she had, but Li Xiuying didn't want to care one bit about the public's opinion once she signed the divorce papers. 

She just wished that Mu Jianyu wouldn't regret his decision later on since Lin Meirong… No… Li Xiuying corrected herself. Gu Changge wouldn't be able to marry him without admitting her existing marriage with another man. 

However, was Gu Changge brave enough to confess the truth that she lied to Mu Jianyu?

If she was another woman, Li Xiuying would use this information she got about Lin Meirong to ruin her and her husband. It was just a pity that her conscience wouldn't allow her to do so. She wasn't that kind of person. She didn't want to become a monster to defeat the other monsters. She didn't want to become a person filled with a bitterness she cannot control.

In this heartache, the sun won't s.h.i.+ne for her and him anymore. The birdsong pa.s.sed as if the melody can't glide through the air as it once did. But the truth was, Li Xiuying would rather forgo comfort than keep a lover who doesn't love and respect her anymore. 

So instead, she would let this heartache be her teacher. Because she'd rather break this relations.h.i.+p than herself. 

Either it turned into ashes or she would because she'd have to have no self-respect at all to stay with the one who couldn't see how wonderful she was. There wasn't a woman alive who wanted a man who would betray her. It was time for her to walk away,

"Are you sure about this?" Shen Zichen questioned her. 

Was it really alright to leave everything like that without teaching Mu Jianyu and Lin Meirong a lesson?

"Ying, are you sure that after you divorce him, they wouldn't try to bother you anymore?" 

Mu Jianyu was able to stab her from behind and use Li Corporation to his advantage. What if he found out about the child he had with Li Xiuying? Would he use the child to gain favors from her and the Li family? 

Shen Zichen's eyes narrowed at the thought. Such an opportunistic leech who only knew how to take what wasn't his. Mu Jianyu was fortunate that he, Shen Zichen, wasn't in the business world to crush him with his own hands but that didn't mean he wouldn't be able to inflict damage to the man responsible for Li Xiuying's tears. 

"Lin Meirong wouldn't dare unless she wanted to be destroyed beyond recognition." She chuckled. 

The cheating could have succeeded in hurting her but it would be a different matter if they dared to touch her child. 

She didn't get out of his car and they remained silent. Each was preoccupied with different thoughts. 

"Ying, I know this isn't the right time to tell you…" Shen Zichen started. 

Li Xiuying felt a s.h.i.+ver run on her spine. Whether it was from the air conditioner in his car or from his almost confession, she wasn't sure. 

"I've loved you for a long time and I hate to see you like this." He continued. He kept his eyes steady, resting on her face, but just briefly, the sorrow already building inside of him.

Li Xiuying stayed rooted to the spot, her hair softly pushed away from her cheekbone that had become so much more prominent over the previous weeks. Her features buckled just slightly before she spoke in all honesty. Shen Zichen deserved the truth. She cannot let him suffer in silence anymore. 

"I know, Brother Zichen… I know.��� 

It was Shen Zichen's turn to be speechless, not expecting her response to his confession. 

"I'm sorry..." She knew those were the wrong words to say at that moment. 

"What are you sorry for? It was me who never said a word about it. Please, don't burden yourself because of this." This was why Shen Zichen never dared to tell her before. It takes guts to express a romantic interest in someone, and most people have enough self-awareness and humility to know a rejection when they see one, and Shen Zichen was one of them. 

"I'm sorry, I just didn't feel a connection." Li Xiuying said truthfully. She didn't want to give him ideas or false hope that there would be a chance between them. She regretted not knowing about what he felt before marrying Mu Jianyu. It must have been hard for him to watch her marry another man. 

"I know my place and I clearly know what you feel," he sighed and shook his head, "but that doesn't mean I've never had the urge to punch your husband right in his face. I've been tempted several times, just so you know." He said with a playful tone, hoping that the awkward atmosphere around them would lessen. 

"Ying, if you change your mind and you want to teach them a lesson, you tell me, alright? If you want to use me to spite Mu Jianyu, feel free to do so. I'm a man so I know he hates my mere existence and how close I am to you." 

Li Xiuying couldn't help but laugh at it even though she wasn't sure if he was being serious or not. 

"I'll keep it in mind then."
