Li Yuan looked at the cigar he had given him. Was he smoking something funny? Weed? Since when did people start borrowing heirlooms, "What?"

"You know Old Madam Yu had that had knee ache that made her unable to walk. Yu Youhan then like all other medical emergencies called her other service after trying many specialist for months."

He remembered the time like yesterday when they took Lei Xinyi to see her, she was hangover and in last night-party dress. It was an emergency Old Madam Yu pain had resurfaced harder than before that it was hard to walk.

It was just as hard for Lei Xinyi too as she was a hangover after a crazy night.

Old Madam Yu saw her and refused to let treat her because 'she looked like a reckless young woman' she had said. Indeed Lei Xinyi was young to know all that skills but since when did life see ages before testing you?

All it took was her holding the wrist of Old Madam Yu and listing her small and big symptoms, some that Old Madam Yu even hadn't noticed then. 

He took a big puff and smiled tenderly at the memory, "Lei Xinyi healed her in about two months completely, even offered her other advices to improve her health and body. Old Madam Yu become her die-hard fan and would call her on her every tea party and even tried to set her up with the Yu's brothers. When that didn't work she set her up on match-making dates but Lei Xinyi declined all that."

Then his eyes hardened and he took a deep breath before continuing, "Old Madam Li was even more impressed because she thought she was career-conscious and an independent woman when in fact... Lei Xinyi was busy getting drunk and gambling the nights away. She occasionally even fought in underground arenas and sometimes broke out in fights in pubs...She had always been the wild type...self-destructive type."

"That was one of those days when her deranged underworld 'friends' dared her to steal from the Yu's and Lei Xinyi being Lei Xinyi stole the heirloom of the Yu's. It was easy for her, she had to just replace it with a forged one on Old Madam Li's wrist."

He had heard a lot about her in the last half hour but still, she was a stranger to him. It was even obvious that she was no familiar ent.i.ty to Jiang Cheng either.

She was a mystery. An unsolved mystery.

The more you unfolded and the more she reeled you in. Like a maze she entrapped you and like a vain, she clutched you.

He gazed at Jiang Cheng who was gazing at the boot of his car in thought.

"Where can I find her?"

Jiang Cheng head snapped in Li Yuan direction in horror as he had just confessed having s*x on his parent's matrimonial bed, "See, as a brother, I would give you a piece of sincere advice. Let her go and just...just don't think about the baby anymore because in any case if we will see Lei Xinyi again or not, you are never seeing the baby. The baby will go to the Lei's."

Li Yuan gave him his most murderous glare and he was a comment away from beating him to a pulp. 

There was no baby but even the talk of leaving his child to those psychos infuriated him to no ends. 

Jiang Cheng raised his hands in surrender, "Don't look at me like that I am just telling you the truth!" When Li Yaun glare intensified, he took a deep breath, "Listen, maybe someday she will show him/her to you or make him/her meet you but forget about her and the baby for now."

He then a.s.sessed his face for any giveaway. None.

So he continued, "As it's obvious Lu Xinyi isn't into you and Brother Yu is fond of her so forget about her too. Explore the world, find yourself a good or hot girl, fall in love, start a family and we are with you. Just start everything fres.h.!.+"

Seeing as his speech was working he continued as if concluding, "Lei Xinyi is my adopted sister and I here know her like no other. It isn't her first time doing this. You can ask Yu w.a.n.g. We have seen her for years and she isn't coming back!" 

Li Yuan nodded his head looking at the ground and Jiang Cheng smiled and heaved a sigh of relief that his message has gotten through.

Li Yuan looked up form the pathway and coldly demanded, "I have had enough of your tales. Now, where is she?"

Jiang Cheng jaw hardened and irritation was laced in his every word, "Brother, didn't I just say that it was vain to look for her?"

Li Yaun hadn't known the man for a long time but he reeked of dirty, old, haggard secrets and then his stark a.s.sociation with the Leis wasn't helping his case, either. The man was more than he let on.

He was dangerous because he looked like a man whose loyalty was divided.

Li Yuan could read it in his eyes, all he was waiting for was a confirmation, a proof or a lead and then this man will be in his clutches.

Li Yuan eyes narrowed, the man in front of him was like a cave with a treasure, using every trick and plot to push the seekers away, "Where is she?"

Jiang Cheng threw his cigar on the floor and huffed in irritation, "I don't know. Okay! She just does that and let me warn you anyway. Stay away from her or you will start something bigger than we are ready for!"

"So you know something you are not telling."

"Don't take it personally but that's a family thing."

A mocking smirk took over Li Yuan's features and a sarcastic laugh left him, "Is betraying and backstabbing a family thing too?"

Jiang Cheng looked at him like he had slapped him. His face was contoured in different shades of his rage. But before he could act on his rage and commit a blunder Li Yuan's phone ringed breaking the thick tension in the air.

Li Yuan took out his phone without taking his eyes off the man who was now glaring at him.

Ji Zhou!

He picked the call. Ji Zhou had been working without a break on Lei Xinyi's case with his best people on call.

"What is it?" Without taking his eyes off the suspicious man, he asked. He really wasn't up for listening updates, he wanted progress!

"Si...Sir ." Ji AZhou hesitant voice followed, "We have a... discovery."

"What is it?" He asked sceptically. Ji Zhou was a kind of man who never lost his composure. His hesitancy rung with alarm bells.

"Sir...we may have found Ms Lei." Ji Zhou neutral business-like voice with a hint nervousness followed.

A smirk tugged his lips as he looked at a.s.sistant Jiang with provocation, who had heard the conversation because of his close proximity and echo in the vacant s.p.a.ce, "I am coming. Where is she?"

"On the abandoned road that connects with the port...and Sir, she's probably... dead."
