My Queen Of Terra 33 Friend Or Foe?

"Ouch, stop it!" Zoe giggled hysterically as she resorted to her protecting arm to intentionally block Erin's friendly a.s.saults. As if she didn't perceive it, she continued to whack Zoe and sided with 'Red'.

"Is that how you first met? You should humbly thank him that he still talked to you after what he went through because of you!" She was certain how Zoe was extremely cautious with her relations.h.i.+p with men.

They have been friends for a marked decade. She could count on her fingers the number of guys who were fearless enough to approach her, only to experience outright rejection by her.

Despite that, she has no idea she could beat somebody because of her suspicions. And the grimmest part is, she did that to the most attractive male creature she has ever seen.

She still couldn't believe how Zoe pinned him on the ground with her judo skills when he was merely being a gallant gentleman by returning her important things to her.

"I don't know. Maybe he was just extremely nice," Zoe responded now in a softer tone as she relived how 'Red' covered her with her beach robe after she hurled him flat on the white sand. He even guarded her so no guy might be audacious enough to leer at her while they were on the pristine beach.

'Come to think of it. He was genuinely a nice guy,' she whispered tenderly under her breath. It naturally evoked all the ample times they have been together.

She instantly realized he was always working out something for her. Her glittering eyes glowed as she reminisced fondly how she keenly enjoyed being in his company.

"A 'nice guy' coming from her gracious majesty, huh?" She jeered as she recited the word 'nice guy'.

For as long as she could remember correctly, she has never heard that phrase uttered out of Zoe's mouth. She poked Zoe repeatedly as she went on provoking her.

Zoe's lovely cheeks reddened in evident embarra.s.sment. But she chortled as she shoved her longtime colleague's stabbing fingers away. "Why? Don't tell me he was not. He actually risked his life to catch that man who was spying on us, for all we know."

In a twinkle of an eye, she recalled his a.s.sailant who tried to threaten with a knife. In doing so, she had recalled his last words before he escaped. "Lady Zhou."

She already met Lady Zou twice, and both in an unpleasant condition. 'I wonder if she was after me.' She pondered as she placed her fingers on her lips.

As if the brilliant stars were listening carefully to her conscious thoughts, the door of the express elevator suddenly opened and an elegant woman stepped out.

Her high-heeled emerald wedge shoes thumped on the polished floor, which will naturally make anybody turn around to properly look at where it's coming from.

She was wearing a ¾ sleeved casual line knee-length emerald dress knotted collectively with the same shade of the belt. Her glossy hair was sleek and tied on the right side.

By her dignified posture and how she projects her commanding presence, anyone would undoubtedly see that she was of n.o.ble origin.

"Greetings, Erin!" She greeted her dear friend in a cordial yet refined tone.

Erin and Zoe fixed themselves, with Erin tacitly acknowledging the attractive woman with a gentle kiss on the cheek. "h.e.l.lo, Veronica." She reluctantly approached her in a sociable way.

'Erin must have a.s.sociated with every local villager on this isle,' Zoe muttered in amazement at her companion who seemed to know everybody, from the clerk to the stock owners of Lord Howe Island.

"I'm surprised. I a.s.sumed you had already gone back to your country." She said thoughtfully as she struck up a civil conversation with her. Afterward, she flashed at Zoe and beamed her a modest smile.

"I was. But I returned here for a reason," Erin merely responded with the corners of her lips twitched up and a raised eyebrow.

Zoe observed her friend who was having a tête-à-tête with an accomplished lady in front of her. She was having a normal chat with her, but something was off, and she could feel it.

She glanced at her and introduced her to her acquaintance. "By the way, this is my longtime friend, Zoe. Zoe, this is Veronica Zhōu. She was the daughter of one stockholder of Lord Howe Island."

As soon as she heard the surname Zhōu, her eyes widened as she peered back at the sophisticated female standing in front of them.

After carefully scrutinizing her from head to toe, she came to a conclusion. She was the daughter of Lady Zhōu! No wonder she appeared familiar to her.

Veronica grinned amiably at her and generously offered her rosy palm to shake hers. She stared grimly at it, wondering if it is a hand of a dear friend or a potential foe. In as much as she knew about her mother being a wicked lord, she sincerely wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Zoe glanced at Erin, who seemed to obtain more information about her. She nodded at her to do so. Because her lifelong friend gave her the go-signal, she humbly offered Veronica a welcoming smile and shook her hand. "I'm delighted to meet you."

Veronica gently squeezed her hand in confirmation, "The pleasure is mine. Though this was not the first time, right?"

Zoe recalled how they initially met. She and Lady Zhōu were in a heated argument as soon as they left the dreadful scene in the middle of the sea a few days ago.

Even though she was not the quarrelsome type, she couldn't help it but defend Mrs. Gong. If it wasn't for her daughter's personal intervention, it might have been worse.

"I'm ashamed about that one." Zoe smiled wryly in embarra.s.sment. She turned sideways, contemplating ideas on how she could make it up with her. In a matter of seconds, a brilliant notion flashed through her mind.

"Why don't you connect with us at our reunion this weekend?" She blurted out while grinning from ear to ear without thinking and then looked at Erin. On the other hand, Erin smiled back at her, but she was jerking her head vigorously.

Zoe's smile was still plastered, but her eyebrows were now knitted as she glanced back at Veronica. Veronica gave her back her sweetest smile.
