The male voice was extremely familiar and there was a low smile in his lazy voice. It was incomparably beautiful, like wind blowing through the curtains.

Su Wan was in a daze for a moment. She raised her head in disbelief and an elegant and n.o.ble face instantly came into sight.

Was she dreaming?

The man standing in front of her was her husband, Jiang Xuecheng.

In tears, Su Wan felt everything in front of her eyes seemed to have been fogged by a layer of smoke. She stood up and wiped off her tears.

“Xuecheng? Are my eyes playing tricks…aren’t you lying in the emergency room being rescued by a doctor?”

Su Wan’s eyes were as red as a bunny. The tears on her face had not dried and her hair was still wet. She looked in a state of terrible mess.

“Wan Wan, it’s me.”

Jiang Xuecheng comforted her with his smile. He stretched out his hand slowly to wipe away Su Wan’s tears carefully.

He was alright but Su Wan had brought herself into a terrible state.

Hearing Jiang Xuecheng’s confirmation, Su Wan’s heart finally calmed down.

Without caring about being reserved, she went straight into Jiang Xuecheng’s embrace. Su Wan sniffed but her tears kept flowing onto Jiang Xuecheng’s sleeves.

This man’s embrace was still warm and reliable. Su Wan could even hear his powerful heartbeat.

Su Wan choked and her tears rolled down once again.

“I saw the car accident on the highway on TV. Your Koenigsegg Agera R had been knocked out of shape. I was really scared you’d be injured or dead. I was so scared you’d leave me just like this.”

That wet tears seemed to come with a certain kind of scalding temperature. Jiang Xuecheng could feel the heat on his shoulders even with a layer of clothing in between them.

Jiang Xuecheng was a mild clean freak but now, when he saw Su Wan’s sobbing look, how could he bear to reproach her? He hugged her in his arms more gently.

“Silly girl, how could I bear to leave you alone?”

Jiang Xuecheng paused and started to explain to Su Wan, “My car was. .h.i.t hard but all the airbags were deployed to protect those in the car.”

Su Wan heard Jiang Xuecheng’s warm consolation but when she recalled what happened just now, her teary eyes remained as hazy as the misty rain in Jiangnan.

In less than an hour, it was as if Su Wan had gone through h.e.l.l.

However, at the moment, Su Wan’s heart was more happy than afraid.

How nice it was that Jiang Xuecheng was fine.

She knew now that although she and Jiang Xuecheng had known one another for less than half a year, this man had entered deeply to the bottom of her heart, rooted and sprouted, and couldn’t be removed completely.

His hug was the warmest harbor of her life.

Su Wan shut her eyes with a lingering fear. Her clear, soft voice was now completely hoa.r.s.e.

“Xuecheng, I heard the nurse saying that a man who has the same surname as you is inside being rescued. I thought the man was you. She also said that he has been hit hard on the head and it might be time to prepare for a funeral…”

Jiang Xuecheng tapped her nose softly and his deep voice was as gentle as usual.

“I told you not to entertain all sorts of ideas, and now you’re scared? You didn’t ask clearly, how did you know it was me? You’re my lucky charm. I’ll be fine even for your sake.”

When the man’s magnetic voice entered into Su Wan’s ears, she felt touched and a sense of bitterness.

In fact, he was her lucky charm.

Su Wan blinked. She raised her head slowly and got herself out of Jiang Xuecheng’s embrace. Then, she started to examine him from head to toe.

“It was such a serious car crash. Are you really okay? I called you and Ah Si just now but no one picked up…”

Jiang Xuecheng stood steadily in front of Su Wan and allowed her to examine him. He knew Su Wan would not be at ease if he didn’t allow Su Wan to look closely several times.

Su Wan looked carefully and discovered his right elbow wrapped with bandage without blood stains. It looked quite okay.

Jiang Xuecheng saw Su Wan staring at his elbow. He smiled and lowered his head to place a kiss on her forehead.

“I’m fine. It’s just a slight scratch on my elbow. You know I have very strong healing ability. I should be alright tomorrow.”

Seeing his calmness, Su Wan let out a sigh of relief. Suddenly, she thought of something else and started asking, “What about Ah Si? Was he in the car during the car crash?”

On their business trip to B City, Jiang Xuecheng drank a little wine. So, it was Ah Si who had driven.

Seriousness crept into Jiang Xuecheng’s gentle eyes.

“Ah Si was in the driver’s seat at that time. He was taking care of me when he was driving and so, he’s more seirously injured. One of his arms broke and gla.s.s shards. .h.i.t his head. Luckily, there was still a distance between the gla.s.s and his temples and it isn’t life-threatening.”

Hearing Jiang Xuecheng’s calm voice, Su Wan took a deep breath.

No matter what, credit should be given to Ah Si for Jiang Xuecheng’s survival.

Su Wan stroked the bandage on Jiang Xuecheng’s arm and said, “Let’s go and see Ah Si. He is your savior, thanks to his good driving skills.”

Jiang Xuecheng nodded and brought Su Wan to the intensive care unit.

“Young Madam, why did you come dressed like this?”

She didn’t even change out of her pajamas. How anxious was she?

Ah Si, who was lying in the ward, saw the extremely unkempt Su Wan and couldn’t help frowning.

Su Wan smiled carelessly. She walked slowly toward Ah Si. Ah Si’s injury was indeed much more serious than Jiang Xuecheng’s.

His head and arms which were exposed outside the blanket were bandaged.

This was the first time Su Wan had ever seen Ah Si looking so pale. At the thought of Ah Si getting himself hurt this way because of Jiang Xuecheng, she thanked him. “Ah Si, thank you, thank you, really, thank you.”

She uttered three thanks in a row. Besides these two words, she didn’t know what else to say to express her grat.i.tude towards Ah Si.

Su Wan lowered her eyes. Her red eyes were full of hot tears.

Seeing Su Wan’s solemn manner, Ah Si smiled. He felt a little embarra.s.sed.

“Most welcome, Young Madam. This is not a serious injury. When I was training with Young Master back then, I sustained more serious injuries than this.”

As Ah Si spoke, he saw Su Wan still choking. That instant, he could only look at Jiang Xuecheng as if asking for help.

He didn’t know how to console someone.

Jiang Xuecheng hugged Su Wan. When he was about to say something, he saw a nurse walking in.

The nurse walked slowly toward Ah Si and started to check his injury. Then, she replaced the intravenous bag with a new one.
