Chapter 96: Such a Mean Tactic!

The sun rose and the gentle morning breeze was blowing, making the branches and leaves of the camphor trees by both side of the streets in S City flutter.

Su Wan ma.s.saged her sore neck and shoulders and marched into the main entrance of Long Teng International.

She took out her employee card and was about to swipe her card to check in, but unexpected sweet words that greeted her from behind stopped her.

“Good morning, Miss Su. You look good today.”

Su Wan put down her employee card and turned around. What welcomed her was the sight of a young girl with chestnut colored hair. It was Ji Qing. She had never greeted her on her own initiative before.

There was a lingering fear in Ji Qing’s heart, perhaps because she was caught by Ye Shanshan when she stole Beitong’s draft proposal, so when she looked at Su Wan, she was not as confident as usual but instead there was a nervousness in her look.

Su Wan examined Ji Qing. She could see her emotions clearly. Just when Ji Qing was feeling uneasy, Su Wan laughed faintly.

“Good morning. Why do you look pale today?”

“Really? It must be the weather, it’s a bit cold this morning.” Ji Qing waved her hand awkwardly. She was a little hesitant as she invited Su Wan. “Miss Su, let’s go up together?”

Su Wan nodded calmly and walked towards the elevator. She pressed the b.u.t.ton for the level for the planning department and turned her head sideways to chat with Ji Qing.

“The seasons are changing now. The difference in the morning and night temperatures is greater in S City. You should drape an outer coat before coming out in the morning.”

Ji Qing was overwhelmed. She lowered her head to look at the sleeveless dress she was wearing and kept agreeing with Su Wan.

“Thank you for your concern, Miss Su.”

Coincidentally, the elevator door opened then and Su Wan stepped into the elevator first, followed by Ji Qing who was behind her.

After entering the elevator, Su Wan stopped chatting with Ji Qing. They were not very close and if she were to be overly friendly, it would be easy for Ji Qing to get suspicious.

Both of them were silent and the atmosphere in the elevator turned chilly. Ji Qing stood in front of Su Wan and could not turn around directly to look at her. All she could do was to make use of the reflection of the elevator to peep at Su Wan, to observe her superior’s reaction.

Su Wan’s eyes were dull and under the bright light of the elevator, her expression was unclear but no matter how she looked, Su Wan’s att.i.tude towards her was the same as usual…

Ji Qing let out a soft sigh of relief. Since, nothing was unusual, she could let go of the weight in her heart.

Both of them walked into the office one by one and Su Wan walked straight to her desk. She took out a small round mirror and placed it on her desk on purpose. From the mirror’s angle, she was able to observe Ji Qing’s movements.

Su Wan would not use Long Teng International’s computer for the plan B that she and Jiang Xuecheng had discussed. Instead, she would continue refining the first draft to avoid giving the game away.

She pretended to flip her hair occasionally and through her little mirror, she saw Ji Qing looking at her from time to time though her gestures were secretive.

Su Wan laughed coldly in her heart. She had not known Ji Qing in the past and since she came to Long Teng International, they had no grudges. Why did she want to steal her draft proposal?

If it was exactly like what Jiang Xuecheng deduced and Ji Qing was thinking of selling the draft, who was she selling it to?

Among their compet.i.tors for the Beitong development zone, only Lu Group and Gu Group could be on par with Long Teng International…

So, who would this draft end up with? Lu Qingyu or Gu Zihang?

Su Wan couldn’t figure out and decided not to think about it anymore. She sped up her typing.

Due to the existence of plan B, her effort on plan A dropped by half. This would be taken by someone else anyway, so why should she work hard for others?

Perhaps because of this mindset, Su Wan’s stress decreased tremendously. The more she wrote, the smoother it became.

When Su Wan was speedily tapping on the keyboard, the phone rang and brought her thoughts back to reality.

Su Wan took up her phone and saw the familiar number on the screen. She couldn’t help but laugh out softly.

This was the first time Jiang Xuecheng had called her during office hours.

Su Wan accepted the call and her voice was exceptionally gentle.

“h.e.l.lo, busy bee, why are you so free to call me?”

“Wan Wan, I’ve investigated and I know who Ji Qing is in contact with.”

The familiar cold voice entered her ear and Su Wan’s smiley face instantly changed. She frowned and held on to the phone tightly.

The speed of Jiang Xuecheng’s investigation was much faster than she had imagined. Before she could prepare herself mentally, she was informed of the mastermind. Hence, Su Wan was nervous without reason.

Pursing her lips, Su Wan kept calm and asked, “Who is it?”

“If I’m not mistaken, it should be someone from Gu Group. Since you accepted Beitong’s project, Ji Qing had been in touch with that person from Gu Group. Oh, your cousin sister is involved too.”

Upon hearing this, Su Wan’s lips curved into a sarcastic smile. Sooner or later, their relations.h.i.+p would turn nasty, so it was not strange for her cousin to use a mean tactic, was it?

“Wan Wan, don’t step into this matter. I’ll deal with this for you.”

Su Wan answered softly and ended the call.

When Su Wan’s female colleagues saw her smile turning into a frown when she was on the phone, they got curious and they opened their ears to listen.

When they heard the word ‘home’, they became nosy. They had seen the ring on Su Wan’s left ring finger and now, they were almost sure Su Wan was married.

A girl with a round face, sitting behind Su Wan, asked daringly, “Miss Su, are you married?”

“Yes.”

When Ji Qing hear Su Wan’s answer, her eyes lit up. She pretended to chime in with interest and asked, “Miss Su, which man is so blessed to have married you?”
