Chapter 179: Chapter 179

.

After quite a while, Yoo Chun Young’s voice escaped through his lips at last.

“No.”

“…”

“I wouldn’t leave you with n.o.body.”

Using a double negative to say that he would stay beside me, Yoo Chun Young looked at me.

He wouldn’t leave me with n.o.body; he would keep staying beside me. I suddenly lifted my eyes. At last, his words seemed to permeate slowly into my heart at intervals like raindrops.

I could barely move my lips after a while. I had no idea if I was smiling or not. Perhaps I was. It felt like I couldn’t clearly realize if I was smiling or not.

It was the same as that moment when a volleyball hit my face. My sights turned into a blur, and I had gone dizzy as if my blood vessels were running fast to make my vision pulsate.

When I suddenly gathered back to my senses, I noticed that Yoo Chun Young and I were looking at each other in the eyes until then. Oh my G.o.d… I replied while sitting back defensively.

“Um… y… eah… now that I think about it, it’s very embarra.s.sing to say such a thing… haha…”

“…”

“Haha… ha…”

Sigh. I barely drew in my breath and hung my head down. I didn’t know why, but I couldn’t look at Yoo Chun Young’s face anymore.

‘It feels like I said something really strange right now…’ rambling those thoughts in mind, I heaved a deep sigh. Suddenly, something not so heavy weighed on my shoulder. Someone must have placed his or her hand on me. I lifted my head.

What came into my sight right away was, strangely, Yi Ruda’s face, which looked distorted as if something terrible happened to him.

I turned back and finally understood why he was having such a sour mood.

“Oh, hi.”

“Hi, Donnie.”

Sweeping her disheveled blond hair, Yi Ruda showed a gorgeous smile on her face.

This was the first time I saw her after the vacation. I mean, we had the summer break ceremony yesterday, so it was only about a day later when I had last seen her again.

I never expected to see her in this place; thus, that might be the reason why I felt that she was more unfamiliar somehow. Having those thoughts in mind, I stared at Yi Ruda.

Her bright blond hair drew other people’s eyes on us; thus, many of them seemed to be dwelling upon our direction with a wistful and yearning glance. No, when taking a closer look, I found out that some of them were gazing at Yoo Chun Young, who was sitting beside me, instead.

No matter who it was between Yoo Chun Young or Yi Ruda, they both attracted people’s eyes nonetheless. It was just Yi Ruda who was transcending away from the gender norm a bit.

As soon as I thought that way, Yoo Chun Young’s sharp voice flew over. It wasn’t directed at me.

“Why are you here?”

“Why can’t I be here?” said Yi Ruda turning her mouth up slightly to resemble the hint of a sneer. Her bent blue eyes were on Yoo Chun Young. It looked like she was teasing him.

Yoo Chun Young was just staring at Yi Ruda while displaying his annoyance thoroughly on his face, which seldom happened. The warm air that hung between Yoo Chun Young and me then all vanished away.

‘How can she flip the atmosphere so easily just by entering this s.p.a.ce!’ I glanced at Yi Ruda in awe.

‘How amazing she is to have the spotlight pointed at her in this café just by appearing!’ Like an excellent supporting character in a TV drama, I noticed that everyone in the café couldn’t take their eyes off of Yi Ruda and Yoo Chun Young, who were both scowling at each other.

‘So this is…’ the moment when I wondered to look for a more appropriate metaphor, I soon spat out the word, ‘Oh.’

This was a similar reaction that took place among the students when the Four Heavenly Kings appeared at the school.

‘Is this a critical scene in this novel?’ I thought while resting my chin on my hand. Meanwhile, their war of nerves continued without a hint of ever stopping.

Both just stared at each other’s eyes in silence; it wouldn’t be surprising if one would be confused if they were fighting or being captivated to each other. I suddenly felt quite uncomfortable to be in between the two of them with that thought in mind.

I shouldn’t be in this place right now. A shrimp among whales… there was a reason why this proverb existed; besides, it would be quite unfair for me if my back would snap because of a lovers’ quarrel…

I took a step back; however, once I did that, Yi Ruda suddenly grinned and dropped into the chair right across me. She then directed a dazzling smile only at me as if she decided to take away her interest from Yoo Chun Young.

Her smiling face astonished me. The frayed nerves that she had at Yoo Chun Young until now all subsided; a soft and moist breeze then seemed to have flown over from her shoulder to my direction. Her smile was so gorgeous that it was enough to disarm the person who was staring at her completely.

‘Is it possible for her to show that smile unintentionally?’ I thought while gazing at her, ‘No, that would never happen.’

There was a ma.s.sive gap between Yi Ruda’s smiling and non-smiling face.

‘Well, there’s another person who can show a smile like that.’

It was Jooin. His smile was enough for others to treat him warmly. I startled myself unconsciously with that thought. However, the two had such a different personality.

Since they both had something unknown hidden within them, both of them were a little alike. Having those thoughts, I raised my eyes and glanced at Yi Ruda.

Suddenly, her body tilted backward. She leaned so hard that she almost tumbled back; however, surprisingly, Yi Ruda jumped up into the air while placing her hand on the chair for that short moment before her chair fell backwards.

With a thud, her chair dropped onto the floor. Yi Ruda was, however, fine.

‘What happened just now? Why did the chair suddenly fall back?’ wondering what had just happened, I glanced beside me.

Yoo Chun Young, who was sitting beside me, was resting his chin on his hand with his usual, straight face. His blue eyes under his blue-black lashes were directed at Yi Ruda.

It looked as though a slight grin was hanging on his lips. ‘What?’ I turned my head back again.

Yi Ruda soon strode toward us and shouted while placing his hand on the table.

“Hey, how can you push someone’s chair out of the blue?”

“Push the chair?” I asked in surprise.

Looking at me, Yi Ruda replied to express the unfair treatment that has just befallen him.

“Yeah! I was just sitting quietly, but this jerk pushed my chair with his feet. Donnie, can you imagine how hard he would have pushed it for the chair to fall back when someone’s sitting on it?”

‘Um… uh…” making an ambiguous sound, I turned to look beside me. Yoo Chun Young, sitting next to me, furrowed his brows.

‘He pushed her chair? Yoo Chun Young, who’s the calmest person ever?’

Without batting an eyelid, Yoo Chun Young answered back in his usual, expressionless face.

“Oh, sorry. My legs were a little stiff, so I had to stretch them…”

His words made Yi Ruda’s blue eyes fume. Placing both of her arms on the table, she dropped her head toward Yoo Chun Young. Their faces were almost firmly attached.

She then roared, “Are you kidding me? The chair fell back just by stretching your legs?”

Confronting her, Yoo Chun Young looked surprisingly composed. He stretched out his hand and touched his colorless lips. Without a hint of a smile on his face, he replied, which made me almost burst out a cough.

“Maybe I have long legs.”

“…”

Quickly turning my head away from him, I clenched my fist to suppress a cough.

I thought, ‘Yoo Chun Young, how could he be so shameless… how can he say that he has long legs? Although it’s true…’

A few months of modeling might have turned him quite shameless, or Eun Jiho could have affected him… that narcissistic a.s.shole… While those thoughts rambled inside me, I heard Yi Ruda’s voice that changed fiercely.

“How can you possibly think that what you had just said made sense!?”

“Why? Stretch your legs while sitting on the chair then.”

“Are you serious?! I’m as tall as…!”

With that said, Yi Ruda remained silent for a while as if shutting her mouth tightly. As I slightly turned my head to glance at her, I found that her face flushed so much that I could only swallow my breath carefully at the sight of it.
