Seeing his furrowed brows finally straightening out as she continued to ma.s.sage his head, Xiu Mei felt relieved.

If a simple ma.s.sage like this can soothe his exhaustion even for a little bit then it's fine.

Before, when their relations.h.i.+p was still strictly an employee-boss relations.h.i.+p, she would usually serve him a calming tea and try to lessen the workload that had to go through him. As a reliable subordinate, that's the only way she could think of to help the president.

But now that she's his wife, she can now at least help him like this.

She continued ma.s.saging his temple for a few minutes more while Lu Chen thoroughly enjoyed the treatment.

"That's all for now." She uttered as she finally stopped pressing his temples.

But before she could pull away, Lu Chen quickly grabbed her right hand that was still on his head. He grasped it firmly without even opening his eyes.

Slowly, he pulled it downwards his face and made her hand cup his cheeks. Watching his actions, Xiu Mei felt her cheeks slightly getting hot when she felt Lu Chen leaning his head on her hand even more, making it look like as if she was cradling him.

She felt her hand slightly tremble.

What was he trying to do?

Somehow, she felt that this action was more intimate than when he hugged her last night. Even though the two of them aren't touching each other too much, this action seemed to make her heart pound harder than yesterday.

Her mind blanked out and all she could feel was Lu Chen's warmth as she leaned like a baby towards her hand. He seemed to be enjoying himself even more as they stayed in that position.

The only thing she's thankful right now is that his eyes are shut so he can't see how fl.u.s.tered she is at the moment.

Lu Chen rubbed his cheeks in her palms for a little bit before finally opening his eyes to see Xiu Mei's expression. His eyes widened at first but eventually turned into gentle crescents as he warmly smiled at her.

Seeing that fl.u.s.tered expression on her face, only one thought ran in his mind.

Cute.

d.a.m.n it, he's wife was tempting him without her being aware of it. What to do?

He finally loosened his hold to Xiu Mei's hands as he quickly turned his chair and stood up. He was finally completely standing in front of her while showing such a gentle yet heart-pounding expression that no one this building would've expected to see in his face.

But right at this moment, with her reflected in his eyes, he gazed at her with such gentleness as if she's the only person he could see in his eyes.

And she's right.

Like a magnet being pulled closer together, Lu Chen closed their distance while Xiu Mei felt like she was being hypnotized by his eyes.

She didn't even notice how close they are right now because all she knew right at this moment was that her heart was pounding like crazy than ever. It almost felt like it was echoing in her ears like a drum.

Lu Chen, just like a moth attracted to a flame, approached Xiu Mei. His eyes never strayed away from the woman in front of him.

He raised his hands and caressed her cheeks, feeling the soft skin underneath him. This action just made him crazier and tempted him to do bad things.

And that, he did.

His thumb ran over her lips when he noticed how Xiu Mei's body trembled underneath his touch.

His eyes trailed over her doe-like eyes, her nose, and her small and plump lips. And that's where his eyes paused.

A few seconds later, he returned his gaze to her eyes while leaving his thumb over her lips.

Xiu Mei who felt like she was under a spell saw how Lu Chen slowly lowered his head towards her.

She stood frozen stiff in her place, cautiousness all thrown in the wind, and her guard all broken down.

She watched Lu Chen's eyes slowly close as he inched closer, and Xiu Mei eventually mirrored his actions. She felt drunk in his warm touch on her lips, finally feeling some pressure pressed on it.

With her eyes closed, all her senses were completely heightened. Her sense of touch, hearing and smell.

The room fell into complete silence, and she could slightly hear the ruffling of papers outside the door. Lu Chen's hands that rested on her waist felt like a burning touch even if their skin wasn't touching at all and her hand clinging to the arm that was caressing her face before.

She felt Lu Chen slightly bending her neck that made her stand in tiptoes, making themselves closer to each other than it already was.

She got intoxicated in the minty scent that was exuding from his body, slowly making her desperate to cling into him. From his arm, she clung to her shoulders as she wrapped her arm around it.

Despite their lips not touching at all, with a thumb separating the two of them, both of them couldn't care less at all.

In that situation, this action was enough to wake up whatever was sleeping inside them. It was like akin to a switch, that later on, they will fully realize the consequences of what they had done.

Lost in their world, the couple thumb-kissed for a little bit longer before finally deciding to pull away.

As soon as they opened their eyes, they could see the intoxicated expression in each other's faces. Still lost in their own world, they continued to stare at each other's eyes just like that. It was only when they heard a knock on the door that the two of them returned to their senses.

Realizing that someone was going to enter the room, Xiu Mei unconsciously pushed Lu Chen away and quickly escaped from his arms.

"Boss, I—" Lu Shao immediately stopped in his tracks after taking his first step in entering the room.

Looking at the two figures behind the table, with Lu Chen's back facing him and Xiu Mei that was looking in a different direction, he was able to piece everything together and realized that he had disturbed the two of them.

He blushed at the thought, and since he wasn't quite used to that scene yet, he awkwardly looked at their direction as he slightly bent his body as an apology.

"My mistake, I'll return later." And with that, Lu Shao, the intelligent secretary that quickly read the atmosphere of the room, left in rush to exit the room. He was determined not to disturb the couple's time anymore.

Xiu Mei fell in a state of turmoil as the things they did a few seconds before finally sank in.

Her hand flew to her mouth as she tried to cover her cheeks that were reddening in embarra.s.sment. Her mind is in a complete mess as she resolutely avoided looking at Lu Chen's direction.

All she wanted to do now was to flee from the room and escape from his sight but she somehow felt rooted in that spot.

Lu Chen, who almost lost his mind and control awhile ago, saw her reaction. He himself was also surprised at what he did since he wasn't originally planning to do that at all. At first, all he wanted to do was to hug her but as soon as he saw her fl.u.s.tered expression, it seemed like something snapped within him.

But he still thanked himself that he didn't completely lose his reason and was still able to clearly respect her s.p.a.ce. At the last moment, he kept his thumb in place meaning he hadn't crossed the line of kissing her yet.

He returned his attention to his wife who was trying to avoid him at the moment and slightly panicked.

Uh...did he accidentally scare her now?

Lu Chen quickly caged her by holding her shoulders, making her look at him. Seeing her startled expression and her blus.h.i.+ng cheeks, he desperately held down the urge to attack her again.
