“What did you say?” Qiu Junqiao breathed in deeply. “What’s the matter? Is President Huo playing dumb now? Do you really think I don’t know why you married Su Qingsang?”

Huo Jinyao leaned against the back of the chair behind him. His steely gaze swept across Qiu Junqiao’s face. “What exactly is Miss Qiu trying to imply?”

“I said that you married Su Qingsang due to reasons that are dubious and likely to cause embarra.s.sment to the parties involved.”

Qiu Junqiao had a strained expression on her face as she held Huo Jinyao’s gaze. Her infuriation imploded as she recalled Qiu Yanbo’s warning to her.

“President Huo has elite status and a positive air of authority. However, your feathers are ruffled because of an attractive woman. Because of Su Qingsang, you threatened to transfer our partners.h.i.+p to another company. Doesn’t your exceptional treatment of Su Qingsang smell of your guilty conscience?”

“Why should I have a guilty conscience?” Huo Jinyao’s demeanor turned cold and he looked at Qiu Junqiao with a piercing stare. “Miss Qiu, I sincerely hope that you’ll be conscious of your behavior. After all, if you create problems for the Qiu Family again, I’m afraid that even if your brother and father come to me, matters can never be salvaged.”

“Don’t you get too eager to threaten me.” Qiu Junqiao was also making a determined effort to demonstrate her hostility. Qiu Junqiao was not able to breathe due to the vice-like grip on her neck. Her face turned beet-red and she widened her eyes in disbelief at Huo Jinyao.

“You…don’t you dare…”

“There is nothing that I’m not capable of.” Huo Jinyao laughed coldly. His eyes glistened with the sharp look of steely menace.

“I don’t have the habit of beating up women. However, if I just choke you to death now and then throw you out of the window, my account of the incident would be that you committed suicide when you failed to win my affection after confessing your feelings for me. Do you think people will believe that?”

Qiu Junqiao was scared out of her wits. She turned as pale as a sheet. “You…you…you can’t…you lunatic…”

“Good that you know it.” Huo Jinyao loosened his grip. Qiu Junqiao crumbled to the ground as she lost all the strength in her body.

He looked down at her as she coughed continuously and said without a tinge of pity in his voice, “Miss Qiu, allow me to remind you that if I were you, I would keep a low profile and behave myself. You also mentioned before that our families currently have an ongoing partners.h.i.+p. Since we’re collaborating, it’s best that we do not cause any problems for one another.”

“Regarding the previous job, don’t think about it anymore. If you and your family behave yourselves and do not make things difficult for my wife or me, we can still establish partners.h.i.+ps for future jobs.”

When he was speaking, Huo Jinyao squatted to face Qiu Junqiao. “A smart person like Miss Qiu should know how to choose her moves, right?”
