The Devil's Sleeping Beauty Chapter 6 Pinky Promise

Four years pa.s.sed, Xia Meiren became a famous pianist and composer in London. She hired a caretaker to babysit her son, Little Melon, while he was small and whenever she was away.

But ever since Little Melon can walk and speak his thoughts, Xia Meiren started bringing him to her concerts and the parties that she was invited in. Xia Gua was loved by Xia Meiren's workmates since he was such a lovable and adorable child.

"Are you excited to meet your uncle Sinian?" Xia Meiren asked as she fixed the small bow around Little Melon's neck.

Little Melon was wearing a black suit as he stood still and admire how beautiful his mother was since she was wearing a royal blue gown that was hugging her beautiful figure. It glitters when it was touched by the light and any child would be attracted by it's glittering effects.

Upon hearing her question, he quickly nodded. "Mello is excited!"

Little Melon was now three years old and a half. He can speak English fluently with a british accent but whenever he was alone with Xia Meiren, they would speak in Chinese.

'Mello' was Xia Gua's English name. He was called Xia Mello by everyone that knows him that's why he got used by the name 'Mello'.

They were going to the banquet that Xia Meiren will be attending. A lot of known business people will be attending the banquet and one of them is her brother. Xia Sinian gave his sister a word that he'll be heading straight to the banquet as soon as his plane landed in the country. The host of the banquet was one of Xia Sinian's close friends.

When they got off the car, Xia Meiren and Little Melon entered the hotel, hand in hand.

The banquet was being held on the top floor dining hall of Ritz London Hotel.

Just like how she usually attracted the people around her, the people who saw Xia Meiren were stunned by her beauty, even the eyes of a certain man.

Little Melon walked proudly beside his mother, he was surprisingly behave whenever he accompanied her. Little Melon was an intelligent and obedient boy that Xia Meiren was surprised by how he acts sometimes.

There were a lot of known faces, even some famous English actors and actresses were there. After all, the one hosting the banquet was a very famous man in London.

A lot of people greeted Xia Meiren and her son but they were all cut off when they heard the host, Andrew Watson's voice. After his brief speech, the dinner began.

Since it was a banquet, socializing and alcohol was customary.

After greeting and talking with some people, she went to the buffet area with her son. She filled their plates before they went to the table that was a.s.signed to them.

Xia Meiren sliced the steak into tiny bits so that Little Melon can eat it neatly. Using his fork, he stabbed the meat and eats it that way.

A handsome man in a white suit went to approach her. "Good evening, Ms. Xia."

Surprise by how a man greeted her in Chinese, she turned her head to look at him. Her eyes went wide upon seeing the face of a man that she will never forget.

Seeing that Xia Meiren could still remember him, the side of his lips curled up. "Fancy meeting you here."

She snapped out from her trance, a grin appeared on her face. "Ning-ge ge!" She stood up and gave him a hug.

He was her childhood friend and first love, he was the reason why after all this time, she never dated anyone.

Xia Meiren was with Feng Ning for almost seven years. They were together since they were babies since their mothers were best friends. They grew up together and were inseparable.

Before Feng Ning and his family left for Paris, Feng Ning promised that he will come back for her and because of this, Xia Meiren promised to wait for him.

Feng Ning hugged her back. "I'm so happy to see you here."

When he arrived in the country, he saw Xia Meiren in the Tv as she was being interviewed. He couldn't believe his eyes, the woman on the screen was his childhood friend, Xia Meiren.

When he saw her enter earlier, he couldn't help but think that she was actually prettier in person.

"Momma, who's he?" A small, cute voice of a boy was heard.

Remembering that her son was around, she pulled away from Feng Ning and faced her son, she smiled a bit. "Baby, meet your uncle Feng Ning, he is mommy's friend. Ning-ge, this is my son, Xia Gua, although he prefers to be called Mello."

When Feng Ning saw Little Melon with Xia Meiren earlier, he was surprised and he couldn't help but wonder if he was Xia Meiren's son but now he does. Despite that, Feng Ning gave Little Melon a gentle smile to give the little boy a good impression of him.

"Where's your... um... husband?" Feng Ning asked as he turned back to Xia Meiren.

"Ah... he's... in heaven." Xia Meiren looked away as she lied.

Feng Ning knows her well, her nose would always twitch whenever she lies that's why he knows that she wasn't saying the truth but despite that, he didn't exposed her lie. "I see... I'm sorry for your loss."

"No, it's okay..."

Little Melon looked up at the tall, handsome man and a small pout appeared on his lips. Since he was seating on a high chair, he raised his arms to Xia Meiren as if wanting to be carried.

When she saw this, Xia Meiren chuckled at his adorable gesture before she carried him in her arms, and as soon as she did Little Melon wrapped his short arms around his mother's neck. "Momma belongs to Mello!" He said possessively as he hugs Xia Meiren protectively.

'Since Dada is no more, it's Mello's job to protect Momma!' Little Melon would always think of this whenever a man tries to approach his mother.

"..." Xia Meiren didn't know whether to laugh out or hold it in, but she chose the latter. She pursed her lips as she tried not to laugh at her son's adorable and sweet actions.

When Little Melon turned to look at his mother, he can clearly see that she was trying not to laugh. He pouted cutely, "Momma! Mello is serious! Uncle Ningning is a no no, okay?"

Xia Meiren let out a small giggle, "But baby, he is mommy's friend and uncle Ning is a good man."

Feng Ning clears his throat a bit. "Yes, I am your mother's friend. I am not here to steal her from you." He smiled as he thought that he needs to deal with Xia Meiren's son first.

Little Melon turned his head from Feng Ning then back to Xia Meiren before he turned back to him as he gave him a doubting gaze. "Really? Uncle Ningning won't steal momma?"

He nodded, still smiling gently towards the little guy. "I won't, I promise."

Little Melon showed his tiny pinky finger. "Swear it! If uncle Ning-Ning broke the promise, uncle Ning-Ning will have to eat thousands of needles!"

"..." Feng Ning turned to Xia Meiren.

A small smile appeared on Xia Meiren's lips. Whenever she made a promise with Little Melon, she would always say that if she won't be able to fulfill it, she would eat thousands of needles as a punishment.
