Watching the frosty beauty across from him, Ben knew he only had one thing that could get her to open up now—a Divine Line!

He hadn't used it in a little while because he'd been busy with school and girls he was already dating, but it could work on Laura, because it could work on anyone!

With no time to waste, within Ben's consciousness, he activated the skill!

When the system messages came out, Ben swallowed because this was the tough part. In the following three options, he needed to choose the correct one. If he judged right, it would be the key to victory. If he judged wrong, the interview would be over!

As the system wrote out the text, he focused on the options one by one.

Ben's eye twitched. 'Next! Next one!'

Laura's gaze at him changed, becoming serious, but no longer apathetic!

He succeeded! Even though she didn't respond yet, Ben squeezed his fist in a mini-celebration as her attraction level rose. He poked the first hole in the dam!

Laura was still contemplating how to answer the question. In truth, her work costing her youth and social life was her biggest concern!

She got the job because of her father, but because of their relations.h.i.+p and his desire to not display favoritism, he treated her even harsher than the other employees. He was so demanding that she often worked nights and weekends just to keep up! She liked the job but it took its toll, leaving her full of doubts when she came home late at night, left with only time to sleep.

Before working here, she had a large social circle of friends, dated, and was generally happy. Now, it was rare for her to be available for social gatherings so her friends stopped contacting her as much. A boyfriend? She lacked the time or energy for one. As for her happiness...she didn't want to think about it. People didn't hop on the career track for happiness...

In New York, it was extremely common to sacrifice one's personal life for their career, and even pushed as an agenda by feminists, but as a woman, it created an inner conflict in Laura!

It was one she tried to avoid thinking about…

Yet, now this young man brought it up, out in the open!

When she said that, her eyes enlarged. 'What did I say?' She couldn't believe she admitted it out loud! It was as if the issue was building inside of her, and broke out to the surface!

She wasn't the only one shocked! Paul stared at his daughter with narrowed eyes! 'Is she serious?'

Watching her admission and the discomfort that followed, Ben knew it was his chance. 'I need to strike while the h.y.m.e.n's hot…'

He leaned in toward Laura. "Is the sacrifice worth it?"

When Ben saw her gaze down at her hands in her lap and ma.s.sage her upper thighs, he understood he was on the right track. Those were body language signals of doubt!

"I-I don't know…" Laura questioned it often but didn't have a straightforward answer.

"Was this your dream job when you were younger?" Ben kept poking holes in her sh*t...

At this question, Laura glanced at her father, as if checking for permission, but he didn't interfere in the interview. He was also interested in her thoughts. She was never this open with him…

Laura looked back at Ben. "When I was in high school…I wanted to be a veterinarian." The dam was cracking...

"Why didn't you pursue that?" Ben was hammer-f*cking the dam's cracks...

"I-I didn't think it would make my father proud…" Laura made a hesitant glance toward her father again and her hands squeezed together in nervousness. 'Why am I saying all this?' That was the real reason she was saying these things, deep down--she wanted to!

It was probably a good thing though. Ben didn't notice his backup brain hijacked the entire body just now...

As the interview continued, he observed Laura look over multiple times at Paul, and his tense reactions. With that, Ben started to figure out their relations.h.i.+p. 'Is he her sugardaddy?'

Soon, Ben decided it was wise not to break the dam here, which would bring all Laura's issues exploding to the surface. If that happened, he wasn't sure what Paul's att.i.tude would be. Besides, Ben already achieved his goal. He'd lubed her up…

Changing topics, he s.h.i.+fted to more usual interview topics, asking about Laura's life at the company. Now, she was no longer standoffish. You could even say, the ice queen warmed up to him!
