Chapter 661: Internal Strife

The difference in temperature inside the hall compared to the outside had to be at least ten degrees, maybe even more.

As if he had just entered a sauna room, Lin Jin took two curious steps forward to find the entrance to a mystery realm ahead.

The entrance was decorated with cracks as if it had been smashed by a powerful force before. It resembled a large broken piece of crystal suspended in the air, and it stretched about a hundred feet long.

While the realm might appear spatially limited to the size of the hall, the moment one stepped inside it, the realm would turn out to be more than a hundred times the s.p.a.ce Lin Jin was seeing. This was a common supernatural spell used by many experts.

In most cases, mystery realms existed in a stable condition. A person shouldn’t be able to notice anything from its outer appearance, and after entering the realm, the s.p.a.ce would expand, and what used to be a small room could be a scenic farm.

From what Lin Jin was seeing, a battle had probably occurred within the realm.

It was from the cracks that the blazing heat seeped out.

“Wasn’t Yan Shenjun meeting a guest?” Lin Jin frowned in confusion.

He figured it was best not to enter the realm because if he did, he might get dragged into a fight he supposedly had no part in.

Even then, this blazing fire energy caught Lin Jin’s interest.

Lin Jin’s main attribute was fire and his first pet beast, Xiao Huo, was a fire wolf. Having cultivated Dragonfire, Lin Jin was quite knowledgeable about this specific attribute.

The fire energy he was sensing from the mystery realm felt oddly familiar.

Tempted by a thought that surfaced in his mind, Lin Jin stepped inside the mystery realm without hesitation.

The mystery realm should have been sealed off by mana, but following some ma.s.sive impact, energy started flowing out from inside, which allowed Lin Jin to enter the realm with ease.

The instant Lin Jin stepped inside, his world changed.

What should have been a great hall was now a blazing sea of red.

No matter which spot Lin Jin looked at, he saw burning flames, boiling magma, violent heated winds, as if the entire world was being engulfed in fire.

The temperature here was unbearable.

If a mortal entered this place without the protection of magic treasures or their pet beast, he might last a few seconds before succ.u.mbing to the heat.

This place was a ma.s.sive industrial oven.

Thanks to Xiao Huo, Lin Jin had high immunity when it came to fire and heat. Still, it was so hot that it felt uncomfortable.

In any case, he would endure it.

Thank G.o.d for the Four Ocean Gourd. Lin Jin patted the gourd and a warm layer of water energy enveloped him, removing enough heat from his body to be noticeable.

Then, Lin Jin saw two people dueling up ahead.

One of them was Yan Shenjun.

The other man appeared to be fighting a losing battle. He was covered in heavy wounds and was none other than Inferno Monk, whom Lin Jin had met before.

Weren’t these two accomplices? Why were they fighting each other?

Was there internal strife?

It wasn’t an act. Inferno Monk and Yan Shenjun were trying to kill each other.

Yan Shenjun was doing fine. Besides his charred sleeves and eyebrows, he was unharmed. Inferno Monk, on the other hand, was partially bloodied. Upon closer observation, Lin Jin noticed a few strange worms crawling on Inferno Monk’s right arm. Like an octopus leeching on him, it was slowly draining Inferno Monk’s blood.

Inferno Monk had tried everything but failed to remove these strange worms. Each of his attempts would be stopped by Yan Shenjun too.

“Yan Shenjun, why are you doing this to me?” Inferno Monk roared. The fire on his body burned fiercer, but the instant those flames pa.s.sed over the worms, they were devoured immediately.

Not only was Inferno Monk furious, but he was also frightened by the odd phenomenon. At that point, he was at a loss for what to do.

Yan Shenjun said nothing. He was a ruthless person who remained silent when accomplis.h.i.+ng his task. Regardless of the reason as to why the battle unfolded, since he already started it, he must have already come up with a solid plan because every attack had been aimed at Inferno Monk’s weaknesses.

For instance, while the strange worms looked fragile, they had the ability that prevents them from getting burned.

Just then, Yan Shenjun noticed someone entering the mystery realm. He frowned at first, but after realizing that it was Lin Jin, a look of fear pa.s.sed through his face.

He took a glance behind Lin Jin.

Sure enough, that door was still behind Lin Jin.

Upon realizing this, a look of apprehension appeared in Yan Shenjun’s eyes.

Yan Shenjun had made the necessary preparations to trap Inferno Monk. He calculated all possibilities and was sure that his plan was flawless. The only thing he failed to take into account was Lin Jin, who barged into this realm alongside that door.

This alarmed Yan Shenjun.

Inferno Monk also noticed Lin Jin’s presence by now. His eyes glowed and he performed a spell to charge at Lin Jin.

Yan Shenjun wanted to move, but on second thought, he held himself back.

“If Inferno Monk attacks him, will Curator take action? Though, it matters little to me if either one of them dies. I will still benefit from either outcome!” muttered Yan Shenjun to himself.

Frightened, Lin Jin hadn’t expected Inferno Monk to charge at him instead.

Just as he was about to prepare a counter, he heard Inferno Monk’s voice in his head, saying, “Young Friend, don’t be afraid. I’m bringing you out of here!”

A moment of hesitation on Lin Jin’s part and Inferno Monk arrived before him. Inferno Monk invoked a Golden Transformation spell that allowed him to grow three times his size before he launched his crescent edge shovel upward. The magic treasure shot up and exploded in the air. The huge impact simply shattered this mystery realm, even breaking the formation Yan Shenjun placed to prevent him from leaving.

Inferno Monk managed a successful escape, bringing Lin Jin out with him.

Yan Shenjun was startled. Things were now beyond his control. He did not expect Inferno Monk to still have this much strength. Of course, he never antic.i.p.ated that the man would sacrifice his magic treasure to break the formation.

“Oh no!” Yan Shenjun gave immediate chase. However, Inferno Monk was a profound immortal too. Even if he was badly hurt, if he gave his all in escaping, who could stop him?

By the time Yan Shenjun flew out of the hall, every inch of this cave was burning in fire. Inferno Monk unleashed his flames everywhere he went, turning this cave into a literal h.e.l.lhole. Shouts of immortal servants could be heard as some worked to extinguish the fire. The unfortunate ones who were incinerated screamed tragically in pain.
