No wonder you were so cold to me before!” After a pause, before Chen Meilin could speak, he said, “There was one night that I wanted to take a good look at you, but seeing that you were asleep, I didn’t disturb you. Fortunately, you weren’t awake at that time, or you would have been scared!”

Father Meng teased her half-jokingly.

Chen Meilin really believed it now. She naturally believed in the talismans which Master Chi had given to her. If Old Meng in front of her was that evil spirit, it wouldn’t dare touch the talismans at all, to say nothing of wearing them around the wrist.

Also, the thing that had bothered her the most was the way Father Meng stared at her that night. Back then, she always felt that Old Meng’s stare was too scary and creepy. Thinking about it now, she might have been too agitated these past few days; you would naturally be scared and think too much if you suddenly saw someone staring at you in the middle of the night.
