"Mom!?" Deeder face paled seeing his mother standing there with a knife in her hand. He turned and looked at the two girls who were behind him, both of which were glaring at him as if they wanted to kill him. On top of that, his wrist was completely shattered as well. The entire time that Kana thought that the girls were glaring at her, they were, in fact, glaring at Deeder.

"You little beast! You dare hit on my guest when you have two young wives next to you!? Look at how old you are, and you're trying to hit on such a young girl!" Cia yelled. Her face was red with anger as she looked at her good for nothing son.

"Mom, it's not what you think! This girl called me over and then broke my wrist!" Deeder quickly tried to make everything Kana's fault.

"You think I'm stupid!? I can tell by your wives' expression that you were hitting on the poor young lady! It's a good thing she was able to protect herself, or you might have forced yourself on to another poor girl. Do you know what they call you in the capital? The piddler! All the girls know to stay inside when you walk on the streets, or they will end up like these poor girls. You may be my son, but even I am disgusted by you. How old were these girls when you forced yourself on them!? They had just turned of age! Now there is a Piddler Task Force that warns all the young ladies when you show up!

"Do you know how much shame you have brought to me!?" Cia's chest was heaving up and down as she yelled. She had never been so angry since the time her poor daughter in law's parents came to her complaining about how her son did such horrible deeds!

"Mom, wait, it really was not me… Ow! Mom, why did you hit me!? Wait, why are you hitting me with a knife!?" Deeder was scared out of his mind! It seemed his mother had gone completely crazy!

"You know the law in this kingdom is if you brought it into this world, you can take it out! I am exercising my right!" Cia raised the knife in her hand as she turned to the two girls who were standing off to the side and smiled sweetly at them: "Don't worry, girls, I will not kick you out. You will still be my daughters. I will even help you find someone to marry into the family. So do me a favor and hold this little b.a.s.t.a.r.d down!"

"Yes, Mom!" The two girls did not sound aggrieved or sad that their husband was about to be murdered in cold blood. They even smiled brightly and ran over to help Cai hold Deeder down!

Kana, who was watching all this from the side, was taken aback by what was happening. Deeder was trying to push his wives away and escape while his own mother was stabbing him with a knife. What was more was a few guards had walked in and even stood to the side to watch the show, not showing any signs of making a move! Kana really did not know what to say. To think a country had a law where if the mother deemed it to be fit, she could kill her offspring. She really did not know what to even think of such a rule. Soon the room was filled with the smell of iron, as Deeder laid on the ground in a pool of blood, the two girls who were once his wives jumped up in joy and laughed as if a great demon had been killed. Cia flicked her knife and turned back to Kana with a smile: "I'm sorry, dear. I did not wish to put you through such a traumatic event, but this was something that was a long time coming. I will get your breakfast ready right away."

Once Kana heard food, she completely forgot everything that happened as she smiled and nodded her head. The two girls from before walked over to Kana and bowed their heads: "Do you mind if we join you?"

"Sure." Kana replied with a smile. She saw no reason to decline.

The two girls quickly took a seat. Both girls had mostly human looking features except their pointed ears and horns in their heads. They also had patches of blue and green scales here and there on their exposed skin. On their buts were two thin lizard like tails, nothing in comparison to Kana's tail. "We must thank you… My name is Lea, and this here is Lin. You have no idea how many years we have had to suffer the humiliation of being that mans wives. Every day having to service him was another day we wanted to kill ourselves. We were forced to marry him due to him taking our innocents the day we came of age. At that time we had no choice. That was five years ago. Now that he is dead we can finally find a man who will treat us well. Deeder was someone who got angry easily and used his fists instead of words… Our lives up until now…."

Kana realized now why the girls were so happy when Cia asked them to hold him down. But one thing sprang to mind: "Why didn't you two leave him?"

"Leave? I wish we could have. It's against the law for married couples to split up. If we were to leave, not only would we be given one hundred lashes, we would be sent to the detention house to serve for a month and that is a place where you do not want to go. There has only ever been two people who were sent there and those girls…. Let's just say it is better to be beaten on a daily bases than to go to that place." Lin answered she then leaned forward and continued: "The detention house is just a cover for a wh.o.r.e house. Women who try to escape their marriage are seen as such. So in order to keep their dignity it is better to suffer at home. Luckily this doesn't happen much. Most men are good to their wives it is just some bad eggs like Deeder… You have no idea how many times Mother has tried to talk some sense into her son. She had even sheltered us for a while. But nothing changed even after Deeder promised her over and over that he would treat us well."

Kana's image of a peaceful place was ruined by this incident. At the two girls' words Kana could only say: "Well now at least you two are free."
